  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 14, 2011 -> 09:48 PM) Again, how does Humber pitching yesterday make Gavin have no life on his pitches? I'm saying general rule of thumb in baseball is you try to split up your rotation so you don't have similar pitchers going on consecutive days. You know this, I don't know why you're being difficult about it. I never said it has anything to do with Gavin's stuff sucking today. He either isn't 100% healthy or just not focused.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 14, 2011 -> 08:43 PM) The A's haven't exactly hit him hard or looked like they're exceptionally on the ball, Gavin's just been inconsistent in the zone. Unless Humber took Floyd out to celebrate, that is a solution for the wrong problem. Crisp twice, Willingham, Kouz, and Barton have hit him hard. There's no life on Gavin's pitches today.
  3. I just don't like having virtually the same pitcher going on consecutive nights.
  4. Gavin's determined to throw 80% of his pitches tonight above the belt. He doesn't look comfortable at all on the mound. I really hope we start separating him and Humber in the rotation.
  5. Holy cow, our boys must have had a late night last night. Everyone seems a step slow today. Beckham needs to keep that in front of him.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 14, 2011 -> 08:36 PM) Some solid curveballs have been snapped off in these first 2 batters. Weird pitch selection to Kouz with 2 strikes.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 14, 2011 -> 08:32 PM) Rios could not possibly have swung the bat farther away from that pitch. He'd have gotten closer to it if it was a pitchout. I know the batting average against is similar, but it really seems like today is an odd game to stack the lineup with righties. That tight little slider by Ross seems tough on righties.
  8. Alex is flying open way too much. He has no prayer on an outside pitch. He needs to take a seat, as this can't continue much longer.
  9. Gavin's got nothing so far. Not sure if foot is still bugging him.
  10. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ May 14, 2011 -> 09:10 PM) Does JP ever get a hit? Man he's horrible Rongey today was saying how he started slow last year, and ended up having a good season. His views of a good season must be different than ours.
  11. Hopefully Dunn gets it going again. He looks feeble so far this series.
  12. I don't like Morel in the lineup. Ross made him look pathetic when we faced him in relief.
  13. FILTY! AJP did a great job tonight with pitch selection.
  14. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ May 14, 2011 -> 05:23 AM) Alexei almost air mailed it over Konerkos head. Shades of Jose Valentin
  15. QUOTE (Andrew @ May 14, 2011 -> 05:22 AM) That was completely bulls***. Coco tried to steal Home (not a squeeze; but flat out steal)...."Out of respect". Yeah, right. I don't think the A's respect Thornton, but if you're trying to "steal" a run with 2 outs, it's usually cause you're not confident you can get a hit off that pitcher.
  16. 4 runs on a night where you had two hard hit balls is pretty good production.
  17. QUOTE (Andrew @ May 14, 2011 -> 05:17 AM) It's clear that nobody respects Thornton, now. Slow to check runners, unsure of his pitches, and SLOW to the plate. That shouldn't have been close at all for a guy who throws mid-90s. He's a mess. In the scheme of things, 88mph compared to 95mph doesn't make much of a difference. He's always been slow to the plate, so his struggles/lack of confidence had nothing to do with that play. If anything, trying to steal home with 2 outs is a sign of respect from opposition.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 14, 2011 -> 05:16 AM) Had to be the dugout, walking lead, nonswing Probably something they picked up against him last series.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 14, 2011 -> 05:08 AM) And here goes the Thornton collapse Was Crain's pitch count high?
