Five is Enough - Turning this S*** Around Game Thread
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 01:52 AM) Shields with a gem. f***. He threw meatballs in the 9th, but we just can't square up a f***ing 92 mph fastball. I've never seen our hitters chase so many 2 strike fastballs.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 01:52 AM) lol really? i don't care HOW bad his AB was. you don't just GIVE UP an out with Juan Pierre on first. have him steal for christ sake I'm sure that bunting will pay off sometime this year...we're about 0-9 with it so far.

Brilliant hitting, brilliant managing....awful, boring team.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 01:50 AM) No, he's not. Right now, Dunn's swinging an invisible bat. Just a whopping number of strike outs...he'd made Jordan Danks, Jared Mitchell, and Tyler Flowers blush.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 01:48 AM) Don't you play for the tie at home and play for the win on the road? Yes...Dunn is the easiest out in baseball right now probably. Our manager seriously needs to be fired.

Yay, he's bunting. Please throw it away.

I have faith in Dunn...seriously

Sad thing is if Pierre reaches to start the 9th, Beckham will be bunting again to set up Konerko with 2 outs and runner on 2nd.

QUOTE (Knackattack @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 12:36 AM) Quentin, Danks, Buehrle. Left handed starters and slugging outfielders = Big return by desperate teams. Reports are that Quentin drew limited interest this last offseason, while Buehrle would be a rental that wouldn't get you much. Danks is far and away our best chip.

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 12:33 AM) Stop with your pipe dreams of Ozzie being fired during the year. JR won't do that to him. Most years I'd agree, but I truly think if this team continues to suck and play terrible baseball, he'll be gone.

QUOTE (Knackattack @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 12:34 AM) Honestly, if the team continues to be s*** up until the trade deadline, we have some players that would be worth some good talent. Who?

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 12:25 AM) but then who takes over? They'll give Cora a test run. Better to see what he has now instead of making him the full time manager when Ozzie inevitably leaves. This is just a horrible team with regards to fundamentals. You have one of the slowest runners in the history of baseball get picked off at first?

Good news is Rios won't bat again tonight unless we have a major threat.

This team is playing like a squad that is going to get their manager fired by mid May.

Holy cow, screw this team. That's our captain.

Josh Johnson is a beast. Best pitcher in baseball? 3 times this season he's had no-hitters into the 5th.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 12:09 AM) I just want to know what more (of the things that have gone wrong) could they have done? Did you 100% honestly think going into the season that the defense was going to be bad? Nope, same defense as last year with a lateral move to Morel and a more experienced Beckham. Did you 100% honestly think going into the season the bullpen would be bad? Nope, losing Jenks was probably a positive. Sale looked legit, +1 year experience for Santos, Thornton is Thornton, and Crain. I just don't get it, what are Oz and KW to do when the team plays VASTLY below their averages? No gm or manager in the world can fix that, I don't see the point in stressing out over it. Yes, this bullpen had huge question marks about their closer spot. I agree about the defense being a huge surprise so far. I would say that Ozzie's handling of the bullpen/offense has been worse than he's displayed in the last few years. The bunting has got to stop. Good post though jenksy.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 12:07 AM) holy s***. like PK said, it was JP and Gordon that triggered the hot start. And now it's the same duo who's killing us. Screw that, it's everyone that sucks besides the occasionally solo homer by PK or Quentin.

Any chance Dunn has another appendix that can get him out of the lineup?

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 12:02 AM) Would've been nice to have drafted and signed Tanner Scheppers in '09 over Josh Phegley. We'd just make him a reliever and then trade him for Curtis Granderson.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 11:56 PM) So...we trust the franchise to make the right selections, but only if those selections aren't KW or Oz. Got it. My philosophy is that this year is the year for them to prove they should keep their jobs. If it's a bust, then see ya to both of them. Let Rick Hahn become GM, and go outside the organization for manager and hitting/pitching coach.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 11:59 PM) JD is a second-tier pitcher that will be looking for ace money. And he'll get it. I hope it's not from us. I think most of us agree with you on this. He'll be traded this offseason, there's very little doubt of that. With that said, starting pitching in our organization is more dire than ever after this season. If Sale can't transition into being a starter, we'll long for the days of Danny Wright in the rotation.
