  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 16, 2010 -> 03:02 AM) And all is well with the world again. The pregnant woman has been fed her pickes. That better not be a shot at me!!
  2. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 16, 2010 -> 02:01 AM) Fair point, but we just saw the guaranteed runs the Sox were given by Burnett being in so long and he didn't get anyone out so it didn't save the bullpen. I understand the logic, but when the guy looks that bad you can't leave him in. He wasn't making it out of the 4th if not for a bad AB by Rios.
  3. What I don't get is Twins not throwing 2 strike offspeed pitches to our hitters. They always used to do that, and our hitters really struggled.
  4. AJP! Great swing there. Thanks Gardenhire for leaving him in.
  5. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 16, 2010 -> 01:57 AM) You dont know waht the call was on the first pitch. It may have been Pierre's choice. He got a great bunt down, and it took a great play by Mauer to get him. Youre acting like Pierre is Frank Thomas in his prime and how can you take the bat away. Hes fricking Juan Pierre. Great play? Every catcher in baseball makes that play. In a game where the Twins have struggled to retire our hitters, I just hate giving up easy outs (ie: Vizquel tagging)
  6. BALK! Nice break, get him over AJ
  7. There's a ton of room down the RF line for AJP
  8. Great AB by Kotsay. AJP has to get the job done.
  9. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 16, 2010 -> 02:55 AM) Because if the pitcher throws a ball on a hit and run Beckham is hung out to dry? This pitcher has little control, Pierre at least can take a walk (if hes bunting). With hit and run you need a pitcher who is close to the strike zone. Exactly, so why bunt on the first pitch?
  10. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 16, 2010 -> 01:51 AM) I have nothing against the Pierre bunt, it was fine and he almost beat it out... it ended up giving our 2 best hitters a chance to tie or even take the lead in game hard to argue against it. If you're going to bunt with Pierre, why not just do a hit-and-run? He's one of the best in baseball over the last few decades at making contact when he swings.
  11. I can't recall a game where our hitters had more 2-0 counts.
  12. This isn't the NL where the pitcher is batting. Swing away, we had 9 hits and 8 swings that resulted in outs up to that point.
  13. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 16, 2010 -> 02:46 AM) Nick Punto has taken a few days off of my life. The fact that he continues to kill us despite having absolutely no talent is so frustrating. He plays like the smartest player in baseball when we face him.
  14. THANKS TWINS FOR GIVING UP FIRST OUT VIA BUNT
  15. Jeez, do we even scout Punto? He does that once a game against the Sox.
  16. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 16, 2010 -> 02:42 AM) Well first of all youre assuming that Ozzie called for the bunt and it wasnt Pierre's own doing. If Pierre was a better hitter, Id agree completely. But most of his game is speed and hitting the ball to the left side. When you have a runner on, those plays arent nearly as hard. Taking into account Pierre's skill set, I think that butning for a hit is just as likely to have a successful outcome as swinging. And you would be wrong with your last sentence, as he's around .140 on bunts this year, which would make him in the .275 range when swinging away. Bunting is also dumb to get a runner into 2nd with Vizquel up, as he'd have a tough time driving home a run with how shallow the defense plays him.
  17. Good job bunting, that really worked out well!!
  18. Worst AB of the season for Rios.
  19. Wow, not a good 2-0 swing by Alex
  20. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 16, 2010 -> 01:38 AM) Bunting with Pierre is always okay. You expect he moves the runner over, but he also has a chance to get a hit. Mauer made a great play, could have easily been a hit. He has like a 15 pct chance to reach base, based on his bunting stats this season.
  21. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 16, 2010 -> 01:35 AM) Why bunt there.... Ozzie has Burnett on his fantasy team
  22. I hate the bunt...no reason to give up the first out.
  23. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 16, 2010 -> 01:33 AM) Has Gordon always had that Morganesque twitch of elbow ? yes, RockRaines pointed it out during ST last season.
  24. Sox still need to be aggressive with the hit-and-run if Pierre/Vizquel are up.
