Torii Hunter seems pissed that he didn't see enough fastballs tonight.
-
Wow, what terrible base running by Ortiz. I can't believe Girardi didn't bat ARod, and I absolutely cannot believe Arthur Rhodes didn't pitch.
-
It looks like Arthur Rhodes isn't going to pitch. Shame on Charlie Manuel if that ends up being true.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 14, 2010 -> 03:18 AM) It sucked to see Thornton cough up the lead, but I'm sort of glad that he didn't allow the hit to Byrd. Haha, I was thinking the same thing

QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 14, 2010 -> 04:07 AM) gameday had the 3-2 to byrd on the black....damn Looked high, especially after Thornton got a really low strike call on the first batter.

QUOTE (Real @ Jul 14, 2010 -> 04:05 AM) Im pretty sure he's given up inherited runners in that span, because guys arent swinging and missing off him anymore His location hasn't been as good, I'll give you that.

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jul 14, 2010 -> 03:40 AM) Awesome thanks! I remember somebody made a video of every HR in the 2005 season. I still watch it every once in awhile. Good times. Can you post that?

QUOTE (Real @ Jul 14, 2010 -> 02:59 AM) Hard to argue that since his elbow issue he hasnt been the same 11 scoreless innings in a row for Thornton

Interesting players on Bulls Summer League roster, including McNeal, Sam Samuels, the Jack McClinton, and A.J. Ogilvy.
-
Great job with this video!

Is that Scott Boras standing right behind home plate?
-
I don't get why Cecil Fielder got to sing the National Anthem.

No real update on Grimes, only that it's 50/50 and no decision will be made until close to the deadline.

QUOTE (docsox24 @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 10:11 PM) good lord he talked about those damn shoes about 57 times it was the only analysis he gave and listening to berman describe the homeruns was giving me a headache And the worst part about it was Morgan and Berman were good compared to Bobby Valentine. Bobby Valentine sure was a lot more interesting when he was in another continent.

great post Balta. I even went as far to stick up for Quentin on the play in question, as I was at the game and know how awful the conditions were.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 10:04 PM) Joe Morgan from what I've heard is a strange cat. If you call him a black cat, he'll get Jesse Jackson on your ass.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 10:00 PM) That's a good question. You know what? I'm not down on the field. I don't know who is "tired" or who needs a day off or if a guy is beat down or what? I am cynical by nature, but I do trust a proven baseball guy like Ozzie on that most of the time, even though I don't understand why Juan Pierre never gets tired and needs a day off. Some people act like Ozzie is a buffoon. The guy has been in baseball a f***ing long time. So has Joe Morgan, and he's dumber than s***.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 10:44 PM) So the bad "lineup" b****ing daily comes down to Jones and Kotsay and if he rests somebody like Rios on a given day. There are just so many options when the roster is full of bad hitters. Yes, Ozzie wanted that roster (I added it for you). Greg, who's to say that sitting Rios so frequently didn't contribute to his minor slump? Sure seems like he swung the bat better this last week when he played every day.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 10:50 PM) What kind of logic is that? The team is 25-5 and and you want to talk about the defense of a guy who is ON FIRE? That's not very logical to me. I think it "gets a little tiring" to nitpick at this present time. Want to nitpick? With our pitching, this team could easily be 28-2 over the last 30 games if not for 3 horrific offensive performances against KC, Texas, and the Cubs. We scored 2 runs combined in those 3 games, I believe against Larew, Hunter, and Lilly. There's definitely room for improvement with this team, especially offensively.
-
Glad someone mentioned it earlier, and I mentioned it during April...but Bobby Valentine freaking sucks as a baseball analyst.
-
Is it true that Andrew Larew is pitching in this HR Derby?

Unlike last year, where I think an Alexei Ramirez opposite field single was considered one of the top highlights of the first half of this season, there's a lot to choose from this season. Here's my top 5 so far: 5. Jake Peavy shutout to beat Nationals 1-0 4. John Danks 2 hit shutout vs Angels to win 1-0 3. Konerko 8th inning homer/Thornton induces DP in the 9th to beat Cubs and run streak to 11 games 2. Opening day (home runs, Buehrle defensive play) 1. Alex Rios walkoff homer to beat the Mariners A prediction for the top plays of the second half will not include: - Dayan Viciedo's first MLB walk - Juan Pierre hits the ball into the outfield - Jake Peavy Promotion where first 10,000 fans receive part of his back muscle - Ramon Castro Prison Suit Night - Randy Williams exciting recall to the majors!

QUOTE (VAfan @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 10:26 PM) If Beckham started a sustained hitting tear like last season, I would actually hit him lead off, not #2. Pierre's bunting skills might be better used advancing Beckham on occasion, whereas I'd seldom want a hot-hitting Beckham to sacrifice. And if Pierre gets on with an out, his running threat should allow Rios to see more fastballs. (Frankly, if Beckham and Ramirez both got hot, I'd hit them at the top and Pierre #9.) What bunting skills for Pierre? He's the worst bunter I've seen on the Sox in forever.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 11:19 PM) KC is probably one of the worst I've ever heard. Brennaman's been gone from AZ for a few years...and so Grace has felt the need to "take over" and he's gotten pretty painful to listen to. I can't even sit down and watch one inning of a DBag game. No offense, but I disagree with you about Arizona. Darren Sutton is the best announcer in all of baseball. He even is able to make a terrible team sound like they're having interesting games.
