6/10 GT: White Sox vs. Tigers - 1:05pm CDT CSN
fathom replied to knightni's topic in 2010 Season in Review
QUOTE (docsox24 @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 08:24 PM) I don't see anything wrong with what he said either Reason it's frustrating to me is he interjected himself into being someone who could be dealt a few days ago when they didn't even ask him specifically about being traded. It's why I don't get mad at AJP for talking about trades right now. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 07:17 PM) Because you read more than the headline. Oh come on, after Cowley's initial tweet, it sounded much worse than what Peavy actually said. -

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 07:00 PM) Detroit sucks too. Minny is going to run away with this division They aren't already? It's going to be interesting watching AL teams battle to win the Wild Card, while the Twins win the division by 8-10 games. -
QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 06:55 PM) Ide almost rather just trade him now to get out of that contract.. Oh hell yes

Shut up Jake! We're having to rebuild cause you've been the biggest underachiever on a group of underachievers!

Both CQ and Gordon flew out to deep center? Anyone watching let me know if they actually hit it well? -

How far was Omar's home run? Omar and Lillibridge must have finally received the HGH I sent them. -

I'm just thankful knowing that whatever happens with the conference realignment, Paul Hewitt will be able to adjust to the conference and continue to keep Georgia Tech a national powerhouse that always overachieves. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 05:47 PM) There was also a specific Issue of Flowers in May trying to do more to overhaul his swing to cut down on the strikeouts. It left him uncomfortable. In June he's gone back to what he's been doing and it's suddenly working again. Have we confirmed that he's actually changed his swing back to what it was?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 05:49 PM) Once you get past the first couple rounds its all so much a question of system development though... I think people are silly for ranking NFL drafts before a couple years are up. Baseball ones? My God. I couldn't agree more with you.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 05:16 PM) Fathom, You were the first person I really saw mention GT, but now it seems to be gaining traction. New rumors floating around are the Big 10 wanting Maryland, Syracuse, Rutgers, GT and ND to fill the last 5 spots. Every indication is that Missouri is the Big 10's last resort. GT was approached two months ago by the B10 and SEC. The Atlanta market is something the B10 really wants to add to the conference. GT is also a great fit with the B10 with it's engineering curriculum. With that said, no way I see GT picking B10 over SEC. Maryland is the heavy, heavy favorite. -

Maryland would seem like the heavy favorite, as GT would rather go to the SEC. It's crazy how much television markets are playing a role in this. -
If guys like Flowers, Hudson, and Viciedo tank as prospects, there's really not much hope for this team over the next 5-7 years. We have to find some cheap, productive players somehwere.
-
Did Bud Selig pass a ruling that the Cubs must face Dave Bush in every series between the teams? Heck, he got demoted to the bullpen, and he's still finding a way to start against the Cubs!

Big 10 desperately wants Maryland or Ga Tech -
QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 03:51 PM) Flowers is currently hitting .228 with a 1/3 BB/K ratio at Charlotte. I'd rather keep him down there until the rosters expand. Has Kenny ever thrown in money to get a better prospect in a trade? I can't remember him ever doing that. Flowers is also playing better over the last week, and I'm a huge believer that you should give him time in the majors this year in order to see if he can even be in your big league plans next season.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 03:49 PM) Yeah, for whatever reason, Law is always unusually critical of the Sox. I just saw an analysis of the draft somewhere last night, stating the Sox had one of the better drafts in MLB. Our second day was average...nothing special, nothing awful. But of course, the big headline was something about how it's a tale of two Sox (Red Sox being the best).
-
QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 04:43 PM) I don't really care if we trade AJ or not. He's not costing an arm and a leg and we're not going to get much in return. The extra draft pick may be similar in value. We'd save like 4 million dollars, as well as opening up playing time for Flowers. As I mentioned earlier, if we trade him to Texas, it wouldn't shock me though if we throw in money and get a much better prospect (since Texas has all those financial issues).
-
So did anyone see who Keith Law said had the worst second day of the draft? That's right, KW and the Sox. Did KW run over Keith Law's puppies or something?
-
QUOTE (hogan873 @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 04:19 PM) As long as he doesn't get another at bat, he'll keep his .500 BA. Well, he could not get another at bat all year, and the way things are going, he'll end up with the same amount of home runs as Beckham/Buehrle/Pierre/Vizquel/Barry Bonds combined
-
So with that Millwood news, it seems like Garcia would be a better fit.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 04:07 PM) Exactly, Brent should be on the front cover of the Trib and the back cover of the SunTimes. Cover of SI this coming week should say "Lillibomb", and show his pose. I just hope the SI jinx doesn't cause him to go into a funk. What's the chances he can keep up is .500 batting average?
-
Garcia probably makes more sense, but if the Cards are willing to take Buehrle's contract and give us a high-level prospect, along with a power bullpen arm like M. Boggs, I will gladly thank Buehrle for his amazing career here....and then drive him to the airport.
-
I feel like the Chicago media is covering the wrong story today. The Blackhawks will very likely win another Stanley Cup in the next 5 years. Lillibridge will never hit a longer home run than he did last night. Poor White Sox, always getting the s***ty press coverage.
