What's all these intangibles that AJP provides? I used to be a huge fan of his hustle, aggressiveness, etc. Now, he's basically just a singles hitter who can't throw and struggles blocking pitches in the dirt. Also, it's not like he's helping our pitchers overachieve with his pitch selection. AJP is a solid player, but I don't think it will kill the organization to get some new blood behind the plate.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ May 18, 2010 -> 01:18 PM) True, but the Bulls have a lot of bad publicity with their front office / ownership on how they handled VDN, and the whole Paxson fiasco also. If that didn't happen, I'd say they are definitely the clear cut fav's for Lebron. I don't think any marquee basketball player would even care about that stuff that took place with VDN and Paxson.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 18, 2010 -> 02:18 PM) Not true. They had no intention of ever drafting Porcello. I remember telling Flash he was going to be very disappointed when he was saying there's no way the Sox won't take him if he continues to fall. Same holds true with Wilson, I believe. Sox are going to take a pitcher, as well they should with the first pick.

QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ May 18, 2010 -> 09:34 AM) Yeah I'm calling b.s. on this. Do you honestly think there's even the slightest chance that the White Sox, less than one month out from the draft, won't have scouted every potential 1st round player? They likely won't even know what Wilson's bonus demand is, and they won't have been able to get a good feel for his signability without meeting the guy. The White Sox will do their due diligence on basically every legit draft prospect, especially the top guys, even if they're unrealistic picks (i.e. Bryce Harper, who they will also have scouted). Yes, I know for a fact they don't scout every potential 1st round player. They didn't scout Porcello a few years back.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 18, 2010 -> 06:17 AM) Wilson > Brentz And I'm saying this right now and not after the fact. I'll be extremely disappointed if we don't take Wilson at #13 if he's on the board. Last I heard, the Sox haven't even scouted him due to his contract demands.

QUOTE (JuiceCruz16 @ May 12, 2010 -> 04:02 PM) The Jack kid replacing one of the Wear twins looks pretty good even with Kentucky coming hard after him now as well. I've heard that the Heels may give a senior transfer from Alabama named Knox the other spot. He graduated already in 3 years, so he would not have to sit out a year, and the Heels would be only locked into him for this year as another big body with experience. GT sources think Knox is GT bound after having his transfer to UAB denied. -

Ga Tech is fighting to get Thornton eligible, and they're pretty optimistic he will be. He's expected to announce for them on Thursday. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 18, 2010 -> 04:10 AM) Pau Gasol is amazing. I honestly think he's one of the top 15 players in the game. Other than being "soft," he really doesn't have a legitimate weakness. You can say whatever you want about Kobe. But Kobe's ass wanted out when they were getting their asses kicked by the Suns a few years ago. It wasn't until the Lakers got Gasol for a used tampon that the Lakers went from .500 to title contender. I'd say top 10. I think he's a better player than Dwight Howard.

Shannon Brown just almost had one of the greatest dunks you'll ever see.

Miguel Olivo with the very rare walk, this time on 4 pitches to tie the game.

T. Moore is a very respected journalist who's very involved with NBA happenings.

It's between Cleveland and whatever team has the guts to bring in Calipari.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 18, 2010 -> 12:24 AM) You just argued against your own point by noting the large flaw in your argument: a s*** sample size. Teahen has a career .700 OPS vs LHP (.743 last year), over the course of his career he hasn't been a non existent offensive threat vs LHP as he has this year and given that it's only been 28 PA (26 AB) there's still plenty of time for him to move back towards his career norms. Not if he's not facing Buehrle!! He's clearly struggling against LHP, as he's not picking up the low slider at all. You're a stat guy, what was the direction of his home runs last year? He doesn't seem capable of hitting a home run to right field.

QUOTE (knightni @ May 17, 2010 -> 11:58 PM) Houston might be a place as well, but McGrady proved that you need more than a giant center and a shooting guard/small forward to win consistently. It's funny that a healthy Yao Ming would be a great fit with LeBron, as he's a fantastic catch and shoot player. Meanwhile, Shaquille was just about the worst fit ever.
-
Houston would have to do a sign-and-trade I believe, according to ESPN today.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 17, 2010 -> 11:07 PM) You and I have very different definitions of "A lot". Against LHP, Nix is far more dangerous than Teahen. A .333 OPS against LHP in 30 ABs is quite the feat.
-
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 17, 2010 -> 10:41 PM) Our defense significantly improves in this scenario, and honestly we don't lose that much on offense either. Don't lose much on offense? We gain a lot on offense.

QUOTE (chisox2334 @ May 17, 2010 -> 10:20 PM) Im sorry to say complaining about nix starting is just for everyone to complain about ozzie not doing his job. If Beckham wasn't sucking we wouldn't even be having this as an issue. If the White Sox didn't decide to= have a crappy off season we wouldn't be having this topic. God, who knows if Nix would of made the team if they decided do some things different. If Nix started playing more and playing like crap we be asking why is ozzie playing him. Who knows why Ozzie isn't playing Nix at all. Write e-mail to ozzie. Just hope for good pitching, defense and maybe some hitting tonight. Let's GO SOX Nix should be starting every game against LHP, especially at 3rd base. Mark Teahen has an OPS near .333 vs LHP this year.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 17, 2010 -> 09:30 PM) He seems to be in the dog house for some mysterious reason. Maybe a 43 year old non-hitting utility infielder is our future? Maybe Nix took Ozzie's kid out drinking? It's just ridiculous.
-
BTW, Nix should get more ABs in the remaining months to see if he can even be in the plans for this organization in the future. He's just a waste right now.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 17, 2010 -> 09:25 PM) Our organization thinks too much. Beckham has been deemed ready to play by our organization. Play him every f***ing day. This team was ruined with bad offseason acquisitions that weakened the lineup, coupled with mediocre starting pitching when it was supposed to be overpowering starting pitching. The only changes I want to see involve moving Beckham back to third base and sitting that stiff, Teahen. If Nix and Omar have to play second every day, so be it. I'd say moving Lexi back to second, but we know we can't do that since our organization thinks Lexi is some whiz at short. It should be Beckham at third, Omar at short and Lexi at second. Then replace Omar in the offseason. Stop saying it doesn't matter with Vizquel, because with this team tanking as badly as it is, there's no f***ing reason for him to ever play unless Jose Mesa is pitching. And Alexei isn't getting moved because your amazing manager deemed him to be a fantastic SS.

QUOTE (IamtheHBOMB @ May 17, 2010 -> 10:17 PM) Any changes aside from Gordon possibly being sent down? No idea, just that changes are happening.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 17, 2010 -> 10:13 PM) Wow. What the hell happened to this organization? No accountability
-
Well, a little birdie yesterday told me that changes are coming tomorrow night/Wednesday morning. Beckham being demoted looks like a possibility.

How about someone like Dunleavy who will just catch and shoot?
