QUOTE (The Beast @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 09:07 PM) Yeah, you suck ump. If that had been a ball, Rios would have hit a home run. The Sox would have won the game. They would have gone to the World Series and our lives would have gone on anyway! STFU

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 09:07 PM) I feel like we just got majorly f***ed in the ass Well, we know where the home plate umpire is going after this game.

I really think if Rios swings at that 2-1 pitch, we win that game 9-8. That was a pitch he's crushed to left all year.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 09:04 PM) Ridiculous that you give Marmol that 2-0 pitch with his control problems completely changed the at bat. agreed, either the 2-0 was a strike or the 2-1 was a ball. You can't give the pitcher a 30 inch plate like that.

I swear Marmol gets more calls from the umpire than anyone. His wife must be performing favors after games for the umpires.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 09:39 PM) I think it's the combination of the winning streak coming to an end and it coming at the hands of the lowly Cubs. With this pitching matchup, this is a game where the odds were stacked in our favor, especially after getting the quick 2-0 lead. Johnny just didn't have it today and we let Dempster get in a rhythm after having him on the ropes early. Oh well, you can't win them all. Need to get another winning streak started tomorrow. Dempster is the worst match-up of all the Cubs starters for our hitters, due to our lack of quality lefty hitters.

So did the Cubs put Tyler Colvin on the same diet this past offseason that Soto and Fox were on in previous seasons?

After not seeing the game threads for the last few days, I'm shocked at some of the awful posts in here not even dealing with the happenings in the game. I thought the mood around here would be a lot happier.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 08:09 PM) Did fathom go to all 3 games? Is his wife having the baby? Good luck with the birth, fathom. Hope all is going well. As a joke, please give the baby a middle name of Oz. Just got back from a business trip all weekend...was hoping for the sweep, but hard to argue with this weekend's results.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 10:01 PM) I'd call it somewhere between a good and a very good year, but I'm not sure how you can have a great year and write off 2+ months. I don't think Quentin can possibly have a great year either. Ditto Beckham. What about Jose Contreras in 2005? I can't recall his early season numbers though.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 10:57 PM) Actually, I think it probably does. He'd need to give up like 5 runs total in his next 30+ innings to get his ERA to a decent place for the season. But it's like Tony Pena...if a lot of the runs were from a few bad games, then you have to worry a little less about the ERA. If he ends the season with 2 or 3 blown saves, and can pitch well in tie game situations, I'll consider it a great year.

QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 10:56 PM) Correct, but that doesn't mean that Bobby cant end up with a great year And please find me one person who said that if he pitches good the rest of the way, it wouldn't be considered a great year?

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 10:30 PM) I guess it's a bad lineup any day Rios sits or Kotsay plays. I give up
