Ely just K'd Fielder on a nasty 2 seam 90 mph fastball
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ May 7, 2010 -> 03:15 AM) Ooh, I see Johnny Ely is starting tonight for the Dodgers. 88 mph fast balls galore!
-
QUOTE (jphat007 @ May 7, 2010 -> 03:13 AM) This message is for fathom only. PLease don't highlight if you are not fathom: Awesome use of the spoiler tag. I'm watching the game mix channel. Santos is amazing though, I can't believe how good he looks.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 7, 2010 -> 02:07 AM) The Sox are going to rightfully baby Santos. This is second year of pitching, and he went through a sore arm last year. What type of arm issues?
-
QUOTE (jphat007 @ May 7, 2010 -> 02:11 AM) I mean, I don't even know what to say. I do...DON'T ADD BERKMAN!
-
Going down weakly right now...BORING!
-
Donny Lucy could have done that!! Castro does look extremely heavy.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 7, 2010 -> 03:03 AM) John Danks. Hey Fathom, Ozzie had Santos warming to start the inning. Maybe he's starting to get it? yes, that was nice to see

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 7, 2010 -> 01:56 AM) Is this going to be another one of those "sometimes you just have to tip your cap" games? I'm not sure if it counts as a loss if our hitters had a great batting practice session.
-
Another stretch of way too many Sox hitters retired in a row in the middle innings.
-
Well, that guy has been deeper in the outfield than any ball hit by Pierre this season.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 7, 2010 -> 02:45 AM) Come on dude, it's par for the course in here tonight. This offense sucks. This roster sucks. Kenny is an idiot. I want Fred Lewis. Willie Harris is the best. It's 2-0 and 90% of the posters are already anticipating an inevitable loss. Most of them were anticipating it before the Jays scored their runs. I just wonder why any of you do this to yourselves if you're going to carry such a negative attitude into the first pitch. If you truly believe this roster is horrible and incapable of winning anything, for the love of Pete, go out and do something else. Life is too short to spend in front of the tv every night if you're just making yourself miserable over it. I must have missed where someone said Willie Harris was the best. If you don't want people to criticize how poorly this team is playing, these threads are going to have like 20 responses on nights like tonight.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 7, 2010 -> 02:40 AM) Funny. I appreciate the effort. Honestly though guys, you are a miserable bunch. If I hung around this group on a constant basis I would lose all my hair, my balls would shrivel up, I'd drink nothing but vodka, and my feces would be black. What has been said that's so bad tonight? Considering how horrible we've looked in all facets tonight, things have not been so bad on here. I do agree that if anyone said game is over when it was 2-0, that is excessive.

QUOTE (jphat007 @ May 7, 2010 -> 02:38 AM) Haha. Listening to Rob Dibble do Nationals games is hilarious Just turned that game on to see Willie Harris have a walkoff single.
-
Wow, he pulled off so much on that pitch, it almost hit the tip of the bat. This has to be his last game hitting 2nd.
-
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 7, 2010 -> 02:37 AM) feels like this team has been owned by soft tossing lefties for at least the last five years. Well, there's been one constant over the last 5 years outside of Konerko and AJP.
-
QUOTE (jphat007 @ May 7, 2010 -> 02:35 AM) I'm not sure how my statement is negative. I figure I've been pretty positive tonight. True, considering there's been nothing positive about this game at all really. Bad hitting, mediocre pitching, bad fielding, bad base running.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ May 7, 2010 -> 01:32 AM) Seriously? So now we are going to all lament that we don't have the great Fred Lewis? Goodness... He's a good player, hits a lot of line drives and runs well. He had a great season two years ago for the Giants in that ballpark. Tonight wasn't the first time some of us have talked about how he would have been a good fit this offseason.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 7, 2010 -> 01:30 AM) We could have had Fred Lewis as our leadoff hitter for almost nothing. Lewis fails, there's no hit against our payroll. Instead, we're stuck paying a fading Juan Pierre $9 million, and it's an untradeable contract for the White Sox. KW made some really bad decisions with the allocation of resources this offseason. Between Juan Pierre and Teahen's extension...WHAT? Luckily, he might have ended up with gold in Andruw Jones and JJ Putz. Unfortunately, the bad acquisitions are the ones with multi-year deals.
-
And we're in a lot of trouble. Threw a meatball to Lewis...why couldn't we have got him instead of Pierre? Danks velocity hasn't topped 90 on Comcast, I hope it's a slow gun.
-
Bottom of their order doing damage. Our starters just have no breathing room.
-
QUOTE (jphat007 @ May 7, 2010 -> 02:20 AM) 2 hits in 4 innings. Doesn't look like a struggle to me. How many games this season has the opposition had more hits than the Sox?
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ May 7, 2010 -> 02:17 AM) Well, I know I am a bit more of a glass half full guy, but I like the composition of this offense. The problem isn't in the way the offense was built, but rather that it's two best hitters have been extremely underwhelming. I'm really not that surprised by Jones and Rios. Konerko's performance has been a bit surprising. But if Beckham and Q do 80% of what they are capable of, this offense will be fine. But neither Beckham or Quentin had any type of track record of consistent success coming into this season. Remember how many times we heard "If X players performs well, this offense will be fine"? Like many said back then, there were too many ifs and an extremely mediocre offense wasn't out of the question.

Awesome, Alexei thought it was a hit-and-run.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 7, 2010 -> 02:13 AM) To be completely honest, so many guys are struggling that I find it comical to even complain about the lineups at this point. Our "optimal" lineup has struggled just as much, if not more, than lineups featuring Vizquel and Kotsay. Isn't that what we were doing, as it was in reference to jphat saying that this offense sucks.
