Calipari would only take the Bulls job if he knew LBJ was coming to Chicago, I can pretty much guarantee that.

Rios homer far to center?

QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 6, 2010 -> 01:58 AM) We're going up there now just giving away AB's. It may not matter, but we're just going to regress after we showed such good signs earlier in the game. Every team does this, no biggie

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 6, 2010 -> 02:55 AM) I'm looking forward to the start of the Dan Hudson era. I appreciate the effort that Garcia is putting out there, but I can't generate much enthusiasm seeing a guy whose mostly smoke and mirrors try to gut through 5 innings every 5 days. It's like he's walking a tight wire. I couldn't agree more. I have no idea how he's retiring anyone, but I'll take it for now.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 6, 2010 -> 02:34 AM) I just turned on the Phillies game. Jose Contreras just threw a 97 MPH fastball. My god. Yep, his K/IP ratio this year is insane.

Really feel like the worst struggles of the offense are behind us, but we just have to avoid the 3 inning droughts we've had with regards to getting runners on.

How deep was Rios fly out?

Good start to the game. Farmer didn't act like Jones hit was going to leave the park.

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ May 5, 2010 -> 08:58 PM) He should have retired after his stint here . . . he made that great play in the blackout game and he could have retired on a semi-high note. This bloated, no-bat speed Griffey is depressing to watch. He should have retired after robbing Lou of the walkoff homer in the tiebreak game in Minnesota.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 5, 2010 -> 06:55 PM) Really? See my post right above this. I will also say that anyone that didn't live in Chicago at that time wouldn't grasp the horrible situation that it was. For example, the night of Game 6, I was in a Master's class taking a 3 hour exam. My prof was a Cubs fan, and put the gametracker up during the test. Nothing like having kids in the class starting cheering for every Marlins out, etc. when you're trying to focus.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 5, 2010 -> 09:06 PM) Guilty as charged. September/October of 2003 to that point had been BRUTAL for me (in a sporting sense). The Sox choking down the stretch made it tough enough. But the Cubs on a playoff tear? It was unbearable. It was Cubbie fever 24/7. Everywhere you went. People who had never watched a baseball game in their lives sporting Cub gear. Even my mom, who can't spell baseball, jumped on the wagon. The Sox had never been so irrelevant. I'm with fathom. The most relieving moment of my sports life? No. But I can see where he's coming from. I'll be forever in debt to the 2003 Marlins (and Bartman). Yes, relieving in terms of not having to deal with the awfulness that was surrounding the Chicagoland area during that playoff season. I would never say that the White Sox winning in 2005 was relieving. That was more thrilling and satisfying. And if the Cubs won it in 2003, the 2005 WS wouldn't have been nearly as special in Chicago.

QUOTE (flavum @ May 5, 2010 -> 08:50 PM) Twins win. 19-9..that's their record. Be afraid. It's crazy to think what the situation could be after next weekend.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 5, 2010 -> 07:25 PM) How the heck is it May 5th and we still have Kotsay and Vizquel on the roster? I'd rather have some young guys up then have these guys around. Ozzie will never DFA Omar

QUOTE (kev211 @ May 5, 2010 -> 08:30 PM) For all the people bashing LOST the last page or so, have you ever watched the show from the pilot forward? If so how far did you make it before you quit? And yes Flashforward has been phenomenal since it came back from break. I watched Lost every episode since pilot to now, and I've just been more entertained the last few months from watching FF.

QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 5, 2010 -> 07:29 PM) Hahaha...then you can pin Quentin on me. I knew I should have never bought that Paniagua jersey.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 5, 2010 -> 01:12 PM) And the game-tying home run came from the starting pitcher, which should give you all the momentum you need, until that same pitcher coughs it up, just like the other "ace" did. The one thing I'll always remember from that game is MCab's 1st inning 3-run bomb. Wood threw him like a 97-mph fastball ankle high, and Cabrera just golfed it out to the back of the bleachers. I was just like, wow, this kid is gonna be good. Juan Pierre almost led off that game with a homer, BTW. I went to a Marlins game a few years ago, and their video moment in team's history was Mordecai's double. I was way too happy to see that.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 5, 2010 -> 06:47 PM) When Wood hit that HR I immediately said to myself "f*** it, the Cubs are going to the World Series." I was obviously watching the game on the tube. But I had never heard a ballpark as loud as Wrigley got after Wood's HR. I couldn't believe it. When Alou made it 5-3 I turned it off. I couldn't take it. About 20 minutes later I said f*** it. I was just gonna suck it up. Good move by me. Haha, I remember feeling absolutely sick to my stomach when Wood hit that homer. When Bako flew out to LF to end the game, it was the most relieving moment of my life. Thank you so much Josh Beckett.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 5, 2010 -> 03:32 PM) His big issue is that Teahen backs up on the ball and lets it play him. The minute he starts to back peddle you can just wait for him to get eaten up. The minute he starts to get more aggressive and play the hop better he will be fine. The problem is, he keeps on making the same mistakes that should of been corrected a long long time ago. It's so true that he lets the ball play him. If anything, he needs to be playing in more. He plays so far back, and this just creates all sorts of bad angles and hops. I'm shocked he hasn't had more throwing errors, as every play seems to be closer than it should because of his footwork and how far back he plays.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 5, 2010 -> 04:46 PM) So let me get this straight. We traded for a third baseman who can't hit or field and then extended his contract? Brilliant! Not only that, we took a guy who's versatility was his best asset, and we put him in a full-time position at probably his worst position on the field.

The stuff on the sub was great yesterday, but I was shocked at how lame the stuff with Locke and Jack in the hospital was. I was expecting more out of that. I also think that Jin just lost the Father of the Year voting to Chris Benoit. Everyone who's married or has a kid probably had the same conversation yesterday.

QUOTE (Brian @ May 5, 2010 -> 02:40 AM) Sorry, but the worst episode of L O S T is about 100 times better than any Flash Forward episode outside of the pilot. I thought the mole twist was great on FF

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 5, 2010 -> 03:42 AM) I was in the theater laughing my ass off at all the politcally incorrect lines....and I was like the only one...finally I said out loud, come on people, lighten up! Oh yeah, it was educational

Speaking of movies, I was shocked at how much I enjoyed Gran Torino.

QUOTE (skidoochic @ May 5, 2010 -> 02:30 AM) Thanks for the tip!! If you want, I can get you a signed autograph? Either that, or I can get AJP a TRO
