  1. QUOTE (knightni @ May 2, 2010 -> 07:51 PM) Just think of the draft pick next June. Indeed...but don't tell greg that, he'll say every win is important.
  2. QUOTE (hogan873 @ May 2, 2010 -> 07:49 PM) 25 games in, and the 10-15 record doesn't really tell the story. If it weren't for Danks, Konerko, and Jones the record would be considerably worse. I've said all along, we should be happy we're 10-15. With so many players underachieving, we could have a Baltimore-esque record.
  3. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ May 2, 2010 -> 07:44 PM) Why the HELL is Santos up????? WTF!!!!! Why waste an ounce of energy on one of our best relievers in a 11-0 game? Jeeeeze have we all lost our minds?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Ugh, that pisses me off that he's warming up. We really need a long man, especially with this clunker of a pitching staff.
  4. QUOTE (Capn12 @ May 2, 2010 -> 07:37 PM) Wow, just did something I NEVER do...closed the mlb.tv broadcast of this abomination of a game. Me too, I put on NFL Network to watch a great special on Suh, McCoy, and Myron Rolle. Most entertaining thing I've seen all day.
  5. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 2, 2010 -> 08:35 PM) is it too much to ask that nick swisher get beaned, sparking a benches clearing brawl? Beckham would go to hit him, but of course he would swing and miss.
  6. QUOTE (Capn12 @ May 2, 2010 -> 07:32 PM) Yes, lets make this one sided-game look even worse...is there one aspect of this team that is even above average at this point? home run hitting
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 2, 2010 -> 07:17 PM) I won't believe that D1 is getting dealt in the offseason until I see it. That'd be KW admitting he didn't think he could win that year. Agreed, especially if he's far and away the ace of the team, which is looking to be a possibility.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 2, 2010 -> 07:14 PM) 11 games already giving up 6 or more runs. The whole team or the starters?
  9. QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 2, 2010 -> 07:13 PM) I hate days like today. We look so uncompetitive. We're ground out to the pitcher while they keep ripping singles and homers...The offensive disparities between these two teams is really sad. Well, I asked this question on Friday: who in this Sox lineup would start for the Yankees? We could easily be getting no-hit today.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 2, 2010 -> 08:11 PM) Since every game the White Sox don't hit, Walker gets a lot of crap, when does Cooper start getting questioned? Walker didn't have the luxury of working with the greatest starting staff as the chairman called them, nor did he have resources spent on a bullpen. I'm not saying spending money on pitching is wrong, I just wonder how every slump is Walker's fault, and on the other side of the coin pitchers getting lit up has nothing to do with the pitching coach? I'm all for a total overhaul of GM, Manager, and the rest of the coaching staff. This pitching staff is really disappointing so far this season, and there's been too many blow outs already this year.
  11. I'm proud of Hawk for referencing how lucky we've been with pitching match-ups so far this year. No Felix Hernandez, C.C., and now Greinke.
  12. I have lost a lot of faith in KW to make a good trade if he does unload J. Danks. Just as I type that, Swisher hits a bomb off of Tony Pena.
  13. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ May 2, 2010 -> 08:02 PM) If you look at the schedule, May isn't bad except the trip to Tampa at the end. In June we are playing the likes of Tex, Cle, Cubs X 2, Pit, Flo, Atl, KC Texas, the Cubs, and Florida can really hit. I can't believe Atlanta has played as poorly as they have this season.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 2, 2010 -> 07:00 PM) So, I'm to believe it was no where near Cano yet Cano knocked it down? My god, he's a jedi! It actually had side spin on it that brought it closer to him after it hit the ground initially.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 2, 2010 -> 08:00 PM) They could still salvage things by being on fire in June. But I'm losing faith in ever seeing that. Esp. from the starters. The reason I say next week is cause of the brutal road trip the following week.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 2, 2010 -> 07:56 PM) He's rapidly convincing me that the "Send him down for a stint" plan might be the only option. It's no longer just in his head, his mechanics are totally off. Agreed, even when he swings, he's just pushing the ball towards the right side. At least a few weeks ago, he was swinging with some authority.
  17. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ May 2, 2010 -> 07:55 PM) been over a month straight now of bad, unprepared, poorly managed "baseball". its probably time to stop putting weight into whether we win or lose games, i know what my eyes are seeing, this is NOT a "turn it around in june/july" team, they're just bad Agreed, I get happy when they win, but then by the time the next game is through a few innings, all of the bad aspects of the team are present. When your offense stinks, your defense is average, your starting pitching is the most underachieving in the league, and your bullpen is average....you get a bad team. If they don't go on a good stretch next week, this season could be in real jeopardy.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 2, 2010 -> 07:53 PM) Beckham's shoulder is flying wide open on every swing. Gosh, what a disaster he is right now.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 2, 2010 -> 07:50 PM) The catch-22 of course is...you'd be giving up a lot of your possibly cheap young players to get him. More like all of our cheap young players basically. The funny thing is that I would trade Beckham for Gonzalez now
  20. QUOTE (Disco72 @ May 2, 2010 -> 06:47 PM) Frankly, I want no part of someone signed for that much money and that long. I know that's the price for an elite bat, but I'd rather the Sox have 2 very good bats at that price. Even if you include Gonzalez as part of the new core with Peavy and Rios, you'd still need a lot of production from cheap players to have a good team. Agreed, we don't have the resources in the minors to fill the holes this team has, so you go ahead and trade Hudson/Flowers/Santos/Danks2/Viciedo for Gonzalez, and then our resources are even more depleted. I still don't think we can compete with Boston for Gonzalez anyways.
  21. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 2, 2010 -> 07:47 PM) Buehrle is what he is. Good hitting teams will beat him up. I think in the NL he would be great. I am more comcerned with Paevy though. Pitching in the AL is light years different than the NL. Cubs had no problems destroying Edwin Jackson today
  22. Another non-quality start by our starting pitching. That's becoming common place.
  23. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 2, 2010 -> 07:43 PM) Is Buehrle going to be another example of Chairman Reinsdorf being right about not giving pitchers long-term deals? He have one year left after this season?
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 2, 2010 -> 07:43 PM) I'm also not convinced Danks will sign a long term deal here. I haven't seen anything that shows there is something in common when it comes to an extention. Then our rotation is really going to be doomed. Peavy's going to have a very hard time living up to his contract, and Buehrle's best years are seemingly behind him. It's not like we have a lot in the minors coming up. Danks should be the biggest priority for this team, and save money on a 1st baseman. I still think finding a solid 1st baseman for cheap is one of the easier things to do in baseball.
