  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 10:15 PM) Nice triple for Pods. He almost overslid again. "You gonna call that?"
  2. jeez, this is a terrible performance by our offense.
  3. Way too long of swings against a sinker baller today.
  4. This team needs to wake up. Can't let this be another sweep game letdown.
  5. QUOTE (gatnom @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 04:56 AM) This draft is starting to look not so good... Big time
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 15, 2009 -> 08:49 PM) How are you watching the game? It was a joke
  7. QUOTE (son of a rude @ Aug 15, 2009 -> 08:48 PM) f*** Of all games to have non-descriptive comments during the game thread, today is not the game.
  8. Knowing him, probably hit the foul pole! Good job Nix, I still love you against LHP.
  9. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Aug 15, 2009 -> 09:31 PM) I wonder why people gave up on Scott Hairston. He seems like a good little player. Who gave up on him? Padres got some solid arms in return for him.
  10. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Aug 15, 2009 -> 09:26 PM) Good to see Gio has gotten good all of a sudden. Gave up 11 to the Twins in the last game I saw from him. Since he has give up a total of 4 runs against the Red Sox, Yanks, Rangers and O's. Including no runs in the last two starts. Awesome. Looks like he might be a decent pitcher in this league afterall. Even if we didn't trade him for Swisher, it's likely he would have been out of the organization by now anyways.
  11. You couldn't come up with a worst nickname than Bacon
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 15, 2009 -> 07:16 PM) We need to give Bobby rest. Don't pitch him on back to back days. If we do that, his velocity is down 2-3 MPH and he's vulnerable. Pitch him with some rest and he gets it up there at 95-97, which makes him much more effective. There's something wrong with Bobby right now, I don't know what it is. But we need to watch his use carefully. He's a closer. If you can't pitch him on back-to-back days, then get rid of him in the offseason.
  13. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Aug 15, 2009 -> 05:49 PM) ^^^^^ And I've heard an inkling that it might be because throwing the curve bothers his shoulder. I truly love BBB, but if he can't or won't throw the curve long-term, we might need a different closer next year. I'm guessing that his arb # this coming year would be in the $8M range, so if we use that as a budget, we should be OK. There's really no way he should be brought back next year. Thornton's ready for the closer spot, and you could save a lot of money by trying to acquire a lefty set-up man and getting some players back for Jenks.
  14. In case you haven't noticed, Jenks is throwing more 2-seamers than 4-seamers this season. I think he's a little gun shy due to all the homers he allowed earlier in the year, and he's trying to keep the ball lower in the zone. The reason key to his success is having confidence in his curve ball. That pitch is far and away his best pitch when he has confidence in it.
  15. Thornton is just a machine out there. He makes it look easy. Alexei's coming up huge for this team while some of the big names continue to do nothing productive. Hopefully we saw Jose's last start tonight. Thanks for a strong Sox career, but it's time to hang them up.
  16. How can anyone hate Nomar? He went to the Cubs and absolutely sucked. He has my respect for that.
  17. Nice D by Beckham in that inning. Alexei, you're are hero this trip!!
  18. Wow, what a shank for a hit. Jenks better start throwing something other than a fastball, as a smart hitter is at the plate.
