  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 01:48 AM) If they are signed for a decent amount of time, it wouldn't bother me at all. Agreed, sell high on both of those lefties. Haren't obviously the big gun, and KW has my blessing to unload any prospect we have not named Gordon.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 01:45 AM) With Allen gone, then we pretty much have to keep Thome somehow next season...don't we? It's not too hard, especially in this market, to find designated hitters for cheap.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 01:44 AM) Really, if KW makes any deal right now with how this team is playing its because he's decided to clear some space, maybe even for Allen. There really is no where for anyone to play that gives us a big upgrade. Honestly, unless we offer up Poreda/Richard in a package again as we acquire a big time starter, nothing makes sense.
  4. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 02:42 AM) Hopefully the biggest out of the night there after a small rally. You know very well how KC makes comebacks against the Sox.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 02:40 AM) Would like to see the White Sox make a run at Fukudome again and see how much the Cubs would be willing to eat on that deal...we wouldn't have to give up much. Prefer Fukudome to Rowand in terms of those contracts and future ROI, but both would be high-risk moves...even if we have the financial flexibility. Don't dismiss the idea of KW going after Pierre with Manny back in LA. Ozzie has the love for Pierre from his Marlins days. Where would any of those guys play?
  6. My prediction would be a Josh Fields for Cla Meredith deal. Padres were interested in Fields in the past, and rumor is Padres will be trading Kouzmanoff soon.
  7. Unless it's a superstar 2nd baseman, I am puzzled as to what KW would be looking to upgrade on this current team. No reason to get a CF with Quentin's likely return.
  8. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 01:36 AM) Maybe we can acquire Kung Fu Panda He is going to be a monster in the NL.
  9. Carroll updated it to say it's not necessarily a deal between Sox and Giants.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 02:34 AM) Are you trying to hint at the Dye for pitching deal? Well, if the Giants and Sox are trading, it's not for the Giants to get more pitching. I just pray that KW doesn't have soft spot for Jonathan Sanchez.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 01:32 AM) Rowand's coming back?!?! Giants aren't going to be trading offensive players.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 02:31 AM) That's news? Kenny is always trying to make a deal. It's be a big deal if he wasn't. The implication from the tweet was that something is brewing. Possibly with the Giants.
  13. BTW, KW is supposedly trying to make a deal very soon (according to Will Carroll)
  14. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 02:26 AM) So the Rays have the best run differential in the leagues. Didn't figure that. Holy cow, would have never guessed that. I guess Dodgers have so many one run victories. Tampa's pitching still seems real iffy.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 02:25 AM) Ward/Kroeger? Or just arguing for keeping both Anderson AND Wise on the team? Keep both
  16. So Dusty pitched to Pujols with bases loaded, 1 out in a 3-0 game. I absolutely would have IBB Pujols.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 01:21 AM) Seriously, if the rotation can stay in this groove, there's no reason to keep the extra LHP in the bullpen if Quentin comes back. Hold Wise and Anderson and send down Gobble; gives you an OF bat/PH/PR from both sides of the plate. There's no reason to have Gobble on the team, end of story. We have needed an extra bat on the bench a lot longer than we've needed another arm in the pen.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 02:19 AM) Does Beckham really have such a strong arm? All the scouting reports said "average or slightly above average" for SS when he was drafted. I haven't seen him play at all since ST (here in Thailand now), so how could you compare his throwing ability to Valentin/Uribe/Crede/Ramirez? Maybe he's try to get a little extra on his throws from over there and he's changing his natural throwing motion a bit??? His arm seems very good over there.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 02:19 AM) I think we are seeing the book develop on Nix. Keep the ball away from him, as his power seems to be when he turns and burns. And that's why he's perfect as a platoon against LHP. The only pitch that can be effective against him from a LHP would be a low and away changeup.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 01:15 AM) With a really good arm, playing 3b instead of SS makes your throw longer, wouldn't that make it much more likely that a throw is going to sail on you? It's pretty close. The main thing at 3rd you have to learn is that you have a lot more time on a routine play than you do at SS.
  21. Was UGa's first baseman 7 foot tall? I love Beckham like he's my second wife, but he has got to get those throws down.
