  1. QUOTE (soxfan3530 @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 06:02 PM) How can Madden justify putting Ben Zobrist in over JD??? Peter Gammons said Zobrist is his AL MVP for the first half.
  2. Haha, Granderson made it over Jermaine. Looks like Buehrle is only Sox player.
  3. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 02:37 AM) How cheap would Freddie Sanchez from Pittsbugh be? Getz and Hudson? Gross...I wouldn't give up our top pitching prospect for an overpaid 2nd baseman.
  4. If we signed Orlando Hudson, we wouldn't have Jared Mitchell coming into our organization. Also, Hudson has cooled off in a huge way since his hot start.
  5. Oh, and I really don't want to see Bedard included in rumors with the Sox. I don't trust he's healthy.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 08:47 PM) Garland? For the money, I would rather keep Richard in the rotation and find another bat to come off of the bench. or just give Poreda a chance in the rotation.
  7. Halladay's deal doesn't make sense for where this organization is at. Considering the astronomical deal he'll get after next year, I'd rather pass.
  8. QUOTE (High Mileage @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 09:05 PM) I thought there was more to it. Lame. There was a post by someone who had heard Beckham slayed a lot of "ladies" while at Georgia. Thus, the development of a nickname.
  9. BTW, it's great to actually be this disappointed when the team loses a game. For a while in May, it seemed like losses were too easy to handle.
  10. Just got home and read the game thread. Our double play combo has been a disgrace all season. Between that and our base running, Jeff Cox has taken over Greg Walker as the worst coach on our staff. Also, why do we keep playing Castro against RHP? Ozzie sure seemed to go with a Sunday lineup here.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 02:57 AM) The Dodgers offense just transforms with Manny in the lineup. What was their record without Manny by the way? Anyway, it's them and then everybody else in that wack ass league. 30-22, I believe
  12. Excellent, the first two games have been a prime example of one team playing well while the other team is struggling.
  13. I'd like to say that Nix throws the ball probably 25 pct harder on the double play relay than Alexei does.
  14. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 03:33 AM) Linebrink's control is just not there. Agreed, even when he's been getting guys out lately, it's after 4 or 5 pitches.
  15. Jeez Linebrink...first two reach. Jenks going to start warming up.
  16. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 03:25 AM) Was watching the Durham / Charlotte game on TV tonight and Egbert took a nasty line drive to his throwing hand, and left the game. It didnt look good but who knows how bad it is. He had pitched 3 or 4 scoreless innings up to that point. On another note, Kroeger might be the most un-graceful player I have ever watched. The guy badly misplayed a ball in RF last night, made an error on a slow roller, and tripped over his feet going from 1st to 3rd. Now maybe these were random events that are unlike Josh, but I was very surprised how badly he looked in the field. Kroeger sucks in the field, that's been known for a while. Thanks for the observations though!
  17. So would that have been an easy double play if Nix had caught the throw? I was watching Manny's first AB.
  18. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 02:04 AM) Or maybe a second baseman if he's a stud. Or even a stud 3rd baseman if you decide to move Beckham to 2nd.
  19. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 02:03 AM) We should be careful what we wish for. I'd much rather go up against the Tigers down the stretch. Yep, but at this point, I'd rather just have it get bunched up
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 01:54 AM) However, if KW did get a RH hitting outfielder with pop, that player would be guaranteed 30-40% playing time as the RH DH/PH for Thome regardless of what happens with Quentin and/or Pods health-wise. The worst thing KW could do is upset the chemistry that seems to be building. We already have a guy who can DH vs LHP if we need it, and that guy is Josh Fields. We're really beefing up our attack against LHP, with Alexei hitting .400 vs lefties, and Nix/Castro providing some spark.
  21. Nice to have some speed guys who can score from 2nd on a single to the outfield.
