  1. Walk-up sales are so important to our attendance. Cubs basically sell out their games well before they ever start. It's a lot harder for some families to justify going to a Sox game on impulse and having to spend 250 dollars for entertainment. I've tried to get a lot of my friends to go to a Sox game and buy tickets on the day of the game, but far too often this year they've said that they need to watch how they spend their money. That didn't happen in previous years.
  2. QUOTE (rangercal @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 06:01 AM) fathom.. I swear it was you... did you not claim Paulie would never have 20 hr power again, just a few weeks ago? Yes, but truth be told, that was only due to the information Hawk was providing (you know, freaking out every time he got jammed thinking his thumb just tore off).
  3. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 04:15 AM) hopefully that was scheduled and there were no setbacks. it was
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 04:07 AM) Agreed...starting the season with Lillibridge, Owens (later), Anderson, Corky Miller, MacDougal, Betemit, D. Wise, Colon/Contreras...that was just PRACTICALLY BEGGING for trouble. Fields and Getz weren't sure things either, although both looked very good in ST. He really got bailed out a bit by Colon and Richard, now Contreras...and the emergence of Pods and Beckham to breathe some life into the offense. It's amazing the change now, and how other complementary players like Getz have less pressure upon them and can stay within themselves and trying to press to do too much. And that's without Quentin for two months. He got bailed out that the division is severely underachieving.
  5. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 05:06 AM) Including all the celebs from today?? Show it to me. Can't find it...it was with all the people who would gather outside the courthouse during his trial dressed like him, etc.
  6. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 05:02 AM) Amen.... and where were all these mutha phuckers when Jackson was on trial for freakin' on boys? He dies and suddenly the records start selling again and people are talking about how he changed the world. GMAFB. Time for someone to find the Triumph clip with all the Jackson fans outside the courthouse during his trial.
  7. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 05:00 AM) The attempts of the media and MJ fans to ignore his flaws and try to lift him into being some sort of Christ like figure now that he's dead has been pretty sad. I saw a shirt today with his picture on the front and on the back said "good luck trying to moonwalk in hell". A little too soon, as the person was wearing it at lunchtime at Woodfield Mall.
  8. Not to be cruel, but I laugh at everyone during the memorial asking "what did he do to get taken from us". The answer is a whole lot of drugs. This isn't a situation like Steve Irwin where it was just a freak accident.
  9. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 02:51 AM) He does not have control to live at 91 -92 as his offspeed stuff is not consistent either. I agree...his stuff is very underwhelming so far.
  10. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 03:43 AM) If he throws 96 he really should be throwing it here what is with all ofthe breaking stuff For now, he's a 91-92 mph pitcher. He's having success, so no reason to change things.
  11. I say this every time we see him: I have no problem trading Poreda in a big deal.
  12. Pie is not very good. This would be selling very low on Fields.
  13. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 03:28 AM) Is he still with the A's or has he gone to pursue other.... exploits? No idea...I'm sure he'll try to play for San Fran before he retires.
  14. I miss seeing Kaz Tadano pitch for the Indians for all the gay puns.
  15. Dodgers might be looking for some bullpen arms, as Bellisario has some elbow problems. Dotel to the Dodgers makes a lot of sense.
  16. Who would have thought that job security is what PK needed to get going? Let's get him one more at bat.
  17. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 03:20 AM) What I find funny is the cubnation thought the season was turning because of the Linebrink disaster and beating the Indians bullpen. The Indians real should have swept those douchechills. It has sparked them to have more of a swagger at home though, I truly believe.
  18. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 01:52 AM) Paulie. I f***ing love you. I was just going to type that. Brandon Allen who?
  19. What a bunch of crap from KW. As others have noted, he did nothing to excite the fan base this season, and the team has played absolutely pathetic at home this season.
  20. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 01:01 AM) Dotel sure must have some serious value Especially for a team that can potentially afford to offer him arbitration and hopes he turns it down and gets an A comp for him.
  21. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 01:57 AM) His stuff hasn't gotten him much success in the past. I understand he has potential, but that doesn't make him any younger. If this signals a move of Dotel for prospects, then it makes a lot more sense. I've watched Pena a lot the last few years (especially in 2007 vs the Cubs). He throws hard but doesn't seem to miss a lot of at bats. His fastball is firm, but his slider sucks.
  22. Anderson is now 6-45 vs LHP. I can't wait for CQ to get back.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 01:47 AM) Isn't PK only signed for 1.5 more years? You might be right, even though another 2 years seems to be discussed in the media a lot.
