  1. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 01:25 AM) I am just assuming we will be .500 at the all-star break. With the Tigers playing Cleveland, you'd be looking at 5.5 out at the ASB, and should be looking to sell then. The Dodgers are looking for relievers according to their GM.
  2. Hawk and Stone sure seem to be ripping on Danks mental mind set so far tonight.
  3. Is Stoney watching the same game we are? These pitches have all been pretty close.
  4. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 12:20 AM) Fantastic start. 8 more games here after this game...it's going to be so much fun!
  5. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 01:19 AM) I am already frustrated. I f***ing hate the Twins and the stupid Dome. Especially with this freaking umpire.
  6. QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 12:11 AM) Keep in mind that we would only get 1 full season out of Halladay... Then we'd have to outbid the RedSox and Yankees to keep him. It just makes no sense for the Sox to trade for Halladay especially with the offensive departures we're likely to have after this year.
  7. You have to be kidding me about this strike zone.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 09:53 PM) There's some decisions to be made clearly, but how many teams don't get a bunch of outings like this out of their 5th starter every year? Not as bad as this one, but Richard hasn't been giving this team a good chance to win for well over a month now. I'm pretty sure his starting ERA is something like 7 now. Clearly, it's not working out with him as a starter.
  9. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 10:50 PM) If this was a blowout, I'm sure Ozzie would of had a big old tirade. What is it with Chicago fans and thinking that their managers are going to have big tirades on a daily basis? If the players on the team need a tirade after being with Ozzie for 5 years now, then they don't deserve to win.
  10. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 10:50 PM) We did a great job of coming back today. But we need to start to chip away at the bullpen later in games. Even with our poor start, this was winnable. Yep, don't always have to get the 3 run homer to change the momentum in the game. Hard to be upset with the offense today though. At least Ozzie will stop saying Carrasco is the MVP of this team.
  11. Not many times you lose when your leadoff hitter gets 6 at bats in a 9 inning game. We have a huge issue with our #5 starting pitcher, and that's where KW needs to make some big decisions.
  12. Getz with just a hell of a day. Two chances to tie it hopefully. Where's D. Lee when you need him?
  13. We've made a ridiculous number of outs on 3-2 pitches today. Just one of those games.
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 09:27 PM) Thanks Ozzie for starting Richard on short rest. Just an absolutely idiotic decision coming off of the start in KC where he ran out of gas. We treat him like he's a 20 year veteran with a rubber arm, when really his most success is pitching like a power lefty.
  15. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 10:24 PM) What is the Sox record when trailing after 6 innings. That tells you all you need to know about the Sox ability to hit bullpen pitching. We started off the year struggling vs starting pitching but hitting the bullpen hard. It's completely changed since mid-May.
  16. Never would have thought the Indians bullpen could shut us down the way this game was going.
  17. QUOTE (hogan873 @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 09:18 PM) It's so damn frustrating in games like this. If is wasn't for Richard being off (way off), it's a whole different game. 1+ inning changes everything. I can't believe some people still think Richard is the best option as the 5th starter. He's been a huge disappointment after his first 3 starts.
  18. We've had our chances with the right people up to tie this game today, but we can't seem to get over the hump.
  19. QUOTE (Elgin Slim @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 07:59 PM) Poreda is fine where he is on the big league club, and that is as the 2nd lefty out of the pen. from what I've seen of him that is the best he'll be is a reliever. He doesn't have the stuff to be a starter. Might as well live with Richard and let him grow as a SP because he has better stuff than Poreda does. IMO Poreda will be a worse starter than Richard if you can believe that is possible You can't keep putting Richard into the rotation when he can't get through 5 innings and his ERA as a starter is approaching 7. This isn't 2007 where we're not competing and can take our lumps.
  20. Wait for announcements after this game. There's no way Richard is staying in the rotation when we start the 2nd half. Of course, starting a struggling pitcher on 3 days rest who doesn't have the best stamina to start with is pretty foolish.
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 07:51 PM) Alexei is inconsistent, sometimes great, so not a great example. No, he's pretty awful. Having no range to your right and being just terrible turning a double play = below average SS.
  22. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 06:20 PM) Thank God. For those that can't watch the game, there's nothing more frustrating than posts like this.
  23. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 06:16 PM) Getz can play the OF, at least he has in the minors, frankly, i'd rather give Fields a chance out their again, it doesn't pay too me too concerned with having decent defense in LF, if you're going to sacrifice it in more important areas. Nix has been fine in the outfield so far this year coming into the game. As we've talked about, a decision about CQ has to be made soon. If they shut him down, then they have to find another outfielder.
  24. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 06:16 PM) 24 pitches through 1 out for CR. Can AP pitch again today after pitching 1.2 on Tuesday? We'll be fine with bullpen arms today. The goal is to limit Cleveland's runs right now.
