  1. Awesome, Ozzie's also making comments about the attendance now. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,2199682.story
  2. This was a carbon copy of so many games we lose at the Dome. Until we pull ones of these games out, the Twins will have all the confidence in the world that they'll find a way to beat us at their place.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 03:06 AM) $6 million dollar 7th inning set-up men who walk Nick Punto to start off an inning... They're not going to get us back much of anything in trade, maybe an NL team will get really desperate to push him back into an 8th inning role at times like we had to with Linebrink out for 2+ months last season. As far as starting Poreda, agree 100% with KHP here. Now starting the likes of Torres, JVB, Omogrosso, Ely, Cassel or Harrell lowers our chances of winning out of the box to about 25-30%, but our offense has been scoring some runs as of late. We would do better to preserve the value of Poreda. Clayton would no longer be the centerpiece of the Peavy trade if it were to be made again today...he might be the 3rd/4th/5th piece after Aaron. Personally, I would go with a hunch and pick Omogrosso. Many others here are advocating for Torres and some for Colon. Colon seems by far the most likely going off what we know about Ozzie, Coooper and KW. Forgot Egbert and Whisler, I guess they're in the David Cook/Charlie Haeger tier of Sox prospects at this point, along with Mr. Torres. Omogrosso? He of the 15.88 ERA in AAA?
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 19, 2006 -> 09:26 PM) Terrible signing, but the Cubs are in great position in their division now. I can't wait for Cubs fans to start planning their World Series parade. I'm proud of this post
  5. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 02:54 AM) well for calling a fastball when it was the most obvious thing in the world It's Matt Thornton. You either call a fastball or a slider he rarely throws and with a huge risk of a wild pitch with a runner on 3rd. Plain and simple, it should have never even been something we have to discuss.
  6. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 02:51 AM) I would REALLY prefer to close this thread and move on. Thoughts? Please do, I love the enthusiasm in here tonight.
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 03:50 AM) Bad pitching in the first, bad umpiring, not executing with RISP when we needed to in the 6th, and the f***ing Metrodome lost this game for us today. And perfect defense by the Twins
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 02:49 AM) I've been looking at them all night Anyone try the Tagalong blizzard yet?
  9. It's to the point in a game like this that if the players aren't arguing about the umpiring, then we might as well save our breath. It doesn't even have to be Ozzie, but it's pathetic how little fire comes from the dugout to stick up for our players.
  10. Who will hit the deep fly ball this wknd that Carlos Gomez robs of a homer? Unfortunately, Carlos Lee isn't here to provide that fly ball.
  11. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 03:45 AM) Let's try a different script with Beckham picking up an RBI in some manner. Ha, maybe Ozzie will ph for him with Fields.
  12. Oh, and if this game follows script, Nathan will strike out the last batter on a called 3rd.
  13. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 03:41 AM) you were spot on abotu that cuddyer catch...twins defense was the difference in this game.... Every freaking game is deja vu at this place. Tomorrow or Sunday, we'll have a game where we hit 5 deep fly balls to left field that get caught on the warning track. Don't forget there will be a very high choppers hit by the Twins in a big situation, and Kubel will crush a home run in a big spot.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 03:41 AM) We win this game maybe if Getz's hit clears the wall or bounces off the wall. It didn't and it's the usual heartbreak in the dome. Stop trying to justify Ozzie's decision He faced "George Brett" when there was no need to.
  15. This is such a typical collapse at this f***ing stadium.
  16. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 02:36 AM) Except you, I, Ozzie, and everyone else in the world know that Jenks is not good in non-save situations. Should have been Thornton for Kubel, and then bring Pena in for the righties. What was Ozzie planning on doing if the Sox got the lead in the 9th?
  17. So frustrating when the team you root for gets outhustled and beaten with fundamentals on a regular basis.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 03:34 AM) Late inning implosion. Guys we need to win one this weekend. Can't afford to drop 3 additional games behind Det. I'll be absolutely thrilled beyond belief if we're only 3.5 games out of 1st at the ASB. 5.5 is a very real scenario.
  19. There's really no reason for Jenks to be in this game right now. Not the time to get him an inning for the hell of it. Ozzie needs to get his head out of his ass pronto.
  20. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 02:33 AM) Great, TBA pitching tomorrow. We all know what that means. It's Perkins if he's healthy
  21. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 02:32 AM) credit gardenhire for stealing 3rd.....IMO that took the "intentionaly unintentional" walk out of play as a past ball resulted in a run....still all we had to do was f***ing intentionally walk the best player in the AL JESUS f***ING CHRIST OZZIE AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH i am still steaming mad If we lose this, easily the most frustrating loss and pretty much avoidable loss of the season.
  22. Unfortunately, we've seen this act before.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 03:28 AM) Sox pitchers with a couple of exceptions, have a difficult time remembering when runners are on base. If the Sox were a basketball team, they'd struggle with FT shooting and inbound plays.
  24. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 02:27 AM) Is there a WORSE manager in baseball in terms of decision making with his pitchers than Ozzie? I mean, seriously. Think about the Cubs game where he left Liney in after giving up the 3 run homer to Lee. It's absolutely disgusting, everyone in the world walks Mauer there, no brainer decision. A lot of our losses lately have had some really bad managerial decisions (more than usual, should I say).
