Game Thread: 6/20 Richard (2-1) @ Cueto (6-4) 6:10CDT CSN/MLN

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 21, 2009 -> 12:27 AM) I just don't see us playing Pods or BA for the rest of the year. And we are fastracking Allen. I think his final destination is 1b, but i don't see us trading Paulie yet. Why not? Got to see what Anderson can do as a starter the rest of the year. And our only hope at not bringing Pods back next year is to continue to play him and see if his production falls off. -

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 21, 2009 -> 12:25 AM) The Sox have to be close to MLB record for consecutive stolen bases against 1 team! Sox get throwed out every f***ing time! I'm pretty sure Jeff Cox is responsible for our base running and infield. Think about that for a second. -

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 21, 2009 -> 12:25 AM) Think we'd try Allen in LF? No way...how about we play people at the positions they actually are playing in the minors? This is the worst we've looked all year. Richard seems fatigued, as his fastball is way down compared to how he was a month ago. -

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 21, 2009 -> 01:23 AM) I want to blow this s*** up, i really do. Seriously, just wait about 10 more days. KW won't do it before the Cubs series. However, please just shut CQ down for the season. -

I've never seen the energy of two teams go separate ways than the two Chicago teams after Liney/Ozzie. We're about to be 6 games out. And Ozzie, if you don't throw at Brandon Phillips next time up, you are a f'n coward. -

Wow Pods...take your time throwing the ball. At least Richard's ERA continues to go down. -

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 21, 2009 -> 12:17 AM) this ump is s*** - how is AJ supposed to cover a pitch that's too inside and it's getting called a strike? He can't...and Richard didn't get a few calls on the inner half. Wise continues to show that he's been the worst players in the majors this year. -

It's amazing how bad this team is with RISP. Have to be something like 10 for last 100. Of course, we do have a guy who should be a #8 hitter batting 3rd. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 21, 2009 -> 12:12 AM) Richard puts a charge into it, flies out to left. Can he bat 5th? -

Sox are getting screwed big time by this umpire. Of course, I'm sure our manager is enjoying the view. -

This infield seems to find new ways every series to cost us unearned runs. Watching this team play, you just get the feeling Thursday's game took a lot out of them. -
QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 10:55 PM) I just puked all over my keyboard... that would be a god awful trade. Poreda alone has about 5 times more trade value than Brandon Wood. Just remember, Angels prospects are extremely overrated on this site. I'm sure we'll get a Willits mention soon.

Why wouldn't you give Dye the game off against Arroyo, who is so much tougher on righties? Oh well -
I think Wood has more wins for the Cubs in the last two days than he had in his career. Thanks again Linebrink!

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 09:19 PM) Well when I see names like Mat Gamel and Jeremy Jeffress mentioned it seems like some do expect a better than average return. It's not happening. The Gamel stuff is just crazy. Jeffress, on the other hand, sounds like the type of guy KW would target.

BTW, why in the hell did Wedge just not pitch Herges in the 8th inning yesterday? Are the Indians that used to winning where they can sacrifice games to try and get Perez/Smith some confidence?
-
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 08:17 PM) huh, could have sworn they just said Guzman was not available this game That's twice in 2 weeks they've done that. Something strange is up with him.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 08:08 PM) I have no doubt in my mind that will see a third consecutive walk-off hit in a few minutes. That would be their 4th straight win via walkoff.
-
Really, ph Crowe for Garko? Nicely done Wedge, you suck
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 09:03 PM) Cool. I'm fine with that. Just please don't act like Jose has legitimate trade value or that teams should be knocking down Kenny's door in an attempt to get a deal done. More than anything, he just makes sense to a team like Milwaukee. I don't think anyone's expecting a huge return for him. Like I mentioned above, more to maybe save a few million and open up another spot in the rotation once this team falls out of it.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 08:59 PM) Do people really believe that a few starts after 3 years of mediocrity by a really, really old guy who's had health issues really has much of a trade market? Or are we just hoping that some team is dumb/desperate enough to give us anything of legitimate value for a guy that really has no value? Dumb enough and just a lack of other arms available.

QUOTE (scenario @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 07:58 PM) Regarding Getz... way too over-hyped?? Are you even being close to serious? I remember starting a thread on SoxTalk last year titled "Why not Getz?" to discuss him as a viable alternative for 2B this year when everybody else on the planet except him was being talked about by fans. It was apparent from that discussion that most people knew nothing about him and clearly did not think he was a legit candidate for the job. Look back at the spring training threads this year... most people thought of Getz as their candidate of least choice for the job (after Lillibridge and Nix). And I don't think anybody dreamed much less expected him to have a .400 OBP etc. Getz went from a no-name prospect to superstar prospect with one flare to center against KC, it seemed like. I remember reading how his added power last year would translate to potentially 15 homers in his rookie year. How many projected lineups this offseason did we see with Getz leading off? Sure seemed like a lot. I agree that we should be optimistic though, as our new prospects are of a different breed than previous ones.

QUOTE (OilCan @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 07:42 PM) Fathom I agree. Having a Christopher Getz on your team is necessary, period. And he should be the #8 or 9, IMHO. Question.......does anyone know if Getz has an arm to handle 3b? I know that he won't have the batting power like an a-typical 3b, but just wondering.....and sorry if we're going off-topic since this thread is about Stefan. I would say absolutely not. His throws on the double plays have shown very little arm strength.

Gotta love the team with the worst bullpen in baseball trying to play smallball with the bunt in the 8th inning. How does Wedge still have a job? Indians doing everything they can to not win this game.
