  1. Cubs at home are the greatest 8th inning team ever. Even before yesterday, they seem to just destroy teams in the 8th inning at Wrigley. It's been that way for a few years now.
  2. And it's 7-6, Cubs still batting. I have no idea what Wedge is doing.
  3. And a fielding error very similar to Getz's yesterday. This is just awful. Cubs about to have the lead.
  4. Mitchell has some nice power to the opposite field.
  5. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 09:43 PM) Man, we totally jump-started their season. Sure seem a hell of a lot more confident in their ability to come back in a game now. Even their fans were into it in the 8th, something they hadn't been before yesterday.
  6. And the tying run to the plate on a broken bat flare. This is ridiculous.
  7. Oh boy, time for the awful Indians pen.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 09:15 PM) No word as of yet. Be a shame for him to have to miss some time just as he's finally getting his act together. Minor groin injury, shouldn't miss much time.
  9. QUOTE (tommy @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 10:39 PM) Is that Forte in the booth? yes
  10. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 10:26 PM) LOL at Cliff Lee's reaction to Derrick Lee's HR, it was totally wind blown and C Lee threw his arms up and rolled his eyes. Lee's at 90+ pitches and the wind is blowing out, with the Tribe pen, this could get interesting at 7-2 Seems like Indians are just waiting for the Cubs to get back into this game.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 02:22 PM) If anyone has Showtime, make it a priority to watch a movie called "Full Count." It's a coming of age movie set in the late 1980's, and it's f***ing phenomenal. It came out in 2006 and doesn't have a well-known cast, so you've probably never heard of it, but I'll guarantee if anyone here saw it they'd love it. Yep, great movie.
  12. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 07:23 PM) I suggested something very much like this but without Dye, Dotel for Johnson plus maybe a prospect, and got blasted. You want to throw Dye in there too? It's sarcasm...if you're unloading Dye and Dotel, you're obviously going into a rebuilding period. Thus, why would you want a veteran 4th outfielder?
  13. Can we get Reed Johnson thrown in to the Dye/Dotel for Dickerson trade?
  14. QUOTE (whitesox901 @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 06:02 PM) Does Jordan Danks have the experience? Well I guess with modern times, players only spend 2-3 years in the minors, so we drafted him in what 2007? The more I think about it scratching my beard, the more I think he will be ready and be our CF. Rumor has it the guy is fast and him or Shelby can be our lead-off hitter in the future as well Shelby's really playing himself out of prospect status. He's going to be 24 soon in AA and is hitting .249. His splits are ridiculous this year, as his OPS against LHP is over .500 pts better than against RHP.
  15. I'm looking forward to seeing the complaints about the lineup tonight. Really nothing Ozzie can do.
  16. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 04:50 AM) I think more reasonable targets for a buy low type of thing are guys like Ian Snell, Lastings Milledge, Ian Kennedy if he's out of the Yankees plans, maybe Chien Ming Wang as was suggested here before, etc. Get someone who won't cost us Beckham/Allen/Flowers/Viciedo/D1/D2/CQ/Floyd/Alexei/Poreda who also fits in a spot where we can play him. Either get a SP, because IMO taking starts from either Richard or Count isn't going to hurt us long term, or get an OF that we can play over Pods/BA in the OF. Ian Snell is horrible. Maybe KW can trade the farm for Josh Johnson (farm is everyone but Flowers). I still think acquiring a righty reliever like Cla Meridith would be a good acquisition.
  17. Triumph will be on tomorrow night.
  18. I wonder if he won't get traded to the Reds. There was talk a while back that Dusty was interested in him. I think he'd be a great acquisition for some team. I would not be surprised if the Tigers made an aggressive move to get Holliday or possibly Jeremy Hermida.
  19. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 04:22 AM) Homer Bailey has added a splitter to his repertoire and is now throwing 97 with his two-seamer. Would you care to admit you're wrong now? How come every time Bailey's promoted, his fastball is a good 5-6 mph slower than is being reported in the minors? He's just an overhyped prospect that might need a change of scenery, and considering how much it would cost to get him, I hope it's not in Chicago.
  20. It's the International League. Wes Whisler dominated that league.
  21. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 03:09 AM) You'd be surprised at the number of people who've given up on him. It's not out of the question to buy low for a guy who dominates the minors, but can't get over the major league hump. It's eerily similar to the Gavin Floyd situation. His stuff sucks now. 91 mph and no command of offspeed pitches. Rumors that he was using PEDs while he was in high school also (people would be shocked at how many high schoolers fall into this category).
  22. BTW, might be time to promote Kroeger and send down Poreda or Gobble.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 02:44 AM) So AJ to RF then? Smartass. Going to be quite the speedy, yet powerless lineup tomorrow. Likely be Pods-7 Ramirez-6 Konerko-3 Wise-9 Castro-2 Anderson-8 Getz-4 Beckham-6
  24. According to Chicagosports.com, Dye likely to sit tomorrow and Castro to start at catcher.
  25. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 06:21 PM) And a 61st round pick. That is what amazes me even more that so many people missed on him. Which is why some of the recent accusations about Piazza potentially ruin such a great story.
