  1. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 08:45 PM) hand was still on the bag! Nope, clearly out
  2. Pods with a bad slide and gets called out on the steal attempt.
  3. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 08:43 PM) I love you Scott Podsednik. No one else I'd rather have up in that situation. It's funny (and I deserve it) how rangercal thought I was calling him out for his AB to end the game yesterday. He had a great pitch to hit, and he's been so good you expect him to do damage.
  4. Cubs should really do a pitch out on the first or second pitch here.
  5. 2 out RBI by Pods! I love when he pulls the ball.
  6. Wise draws the 2 out walk. I'm sure he'll be trying to steal.
  7. Check swing grounder by Beckham. 2 quick outs
  8. Getz gets severely jammed. He's just in a huge funk right now.
  9. Time for Getz to be a spark for the bottom of this lineup again.
  10. Ugh...shades of last time we saw Dempster where we couldn't blow the game open.
  11. Thome takes a huge hanger for strike 3. Big chance here for PK.
  12. I think the more important part is him showing he can hit with a wooden bat. That's a big question mark with him.
  13. 2 doubles in the 1st inning, Sox up 1-0!
  14. Nice job by AJP of holding on to the Lee foul tip. Make Dempster get wild, and don't swing at the 3-2 pitch, as it will be a slider/splitter down.
  15. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 02:53 AM) He'll never get back to the 20's in home runs if he keeps trying to pull everything onto the concourse. It's sickening to watch major league hitters try and pull an outside breaking ball 400+ ft only to pop it up to the 3B. He was such a good hitter last year with a great approach at bat, but in all likely hood, because he hit so many home runs, he's trying to do nothing but hit homers this year. Give him the whole season. His numbers so far this year are around where he was at last year at this point.
  16. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 03:21 AM) If we blow it up, I see Pierzynski as the likely trade candidate with Castro as the guy staying to be the vet leadership with Flowers as the catcher. I think Dony Lucy has a chance to be a solid backup catcher in the future. Not much of a hitter, but from what I've heard, read and the little I've seen, he seems like a really smart player who's very good defensively, and JPN always says he's tough as nails. I can live with a weak hitting backup catcher if they play really good defense and don't play more than 1/5 of the games. If Flowers is our starting catcher, we should do our best to find a lefty hitting back-up catcher. Lucy is terrible..he makes Corky Miller look like a good hitter.
  17. Cashman got quite lucky to get Swisher this offseason.
  18. Tigers are up 4-0 with Verlander on the mound. We're likely going to be 7 games back and trailing a team that is on a 8 game winning streak. It's time KW...come Sunday at 4 PM, I think it will be selling season.
  19. QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 12:35 AM) Who was beating on gator machines and arguing with Pinella in the clubhouse during the game today? I saw him talking about it on the postgame interview but I didn''t catch who he was talking about. Bradley...it's funny that Piniella was b****ing about that, and then Marmol did the same in the 8th.
  20. Something to keep in mind with Dotel is that he is expected to be a Type A Free Agent.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 12:31 AM) We weren't going to get a righty up as the first hitter against Marshall. Why not? Ozzie even did it last week with pulling Thome for Fields.
  22. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 01:19 AM) Getz is average to above average, IMO. Some of his problems may come from having Ramirez at SS; i.e. Double Plays, defensive positioning. I'd say he's average. For a "grinder", he's shown some questionable baseball IQ. Like you said, who knows who's to blame for all the issues the infield seems to have. The one thing 99 percent of will agree on is that Jeff Cox is not good.
  23. Good post caulfield. You also have to take into account that a lot of us care more about this series than just the typical series.
  24. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 01:14 AM) What could Carrasco get us? Hes been good for a season and a half (I think he came up about that time last year) and is cheap. He could be a cheap alternative for a team. Or would he be more value to the Sox next year then whatever we could get for him? I would love to see Carrasco in a 7th inning role where he can stay in for the 8th if he's in control. I actually think he's more valuable to the Sox than as a trade piece.
