6/10 Kitties vs. Sox @ 7:11
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 02:43 AM) The server site was hit by severe storms. We're back. Does that mean Anderson's nice double off of a RIGHTY didn't happen?

Hawk and Stone are begging for someone in the dugout or on the field to get ejected.

TCQ update: If Sox Out of Contention, Shut-Down...Maybe
Here's something for KW to ponder: does he go ahead with the idea of Quentin as our franchise DH starting next year and fill in LF and RF if Dye/Thome leave? That could open up a spot for a leadoff hitter.

QUOTE (chisox2334 @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 10:16 PM) # KW said Ozzie's timetable on Quentin is off, and the outfielder should be back quicker than Guillen thinks.10 minutes ago from txt These two are acting like a married couple on the verge of divorce.

6/10 Kitties vs. Sox @ 7:11
Two more losses, and I wonder if CQ gets surgery on his foot. The recent Cowley information about CQ, located in the thread about his health, is awful! 2009 has just been a disasterous season for him.

Any word on Quentin?

SOXTALK DRAFT THREAD, DAY TWO
QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 04:52 PM) Don't count on it... We rarely ever pay over slot. The Danks situation last year was a special circumstance. Maybe KW has a good relationship with the Thompson family? The only negative I heard about our first day picks was that some think Mitchell was going to be there at 38, and Phegley there for our 3rd pick. Oh well, I'm sure someone we think will be good will suck, and vice versa.

SOXTALK DRAFT THREAD, DAY TWO
QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 04:33 PM) Looks like Fathom was right and we're going cheap this year... oh well, hopefully some of these guys turn into ball players. This is so disappointing. Maybe we'll be active in the International free agency period...yeah right

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 05:41 AM) If Dye misses any signifcant time, Josh Kroeger will be making his AL debut very soon. No, we'd rush Quentin back.

THE OFFICIAL SOXTALK 2009 MLB DRAFT THREAD
I really hope the Sox sign Thompson. One of the more intriguing picks of the decade for us.

Fire Sale Prediction Thread
Maybe we'll see KW offer extensions to someone like Dye at the Sox's price, and if they don't agree to it, they'll trade them. I'd love to see Dye get a 2 yr deal and return as our DH. That way, you can go out and get a RF for next year who bats lefty.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 05:15 AM) If you ask enough scouts about anybody, no matter how good or potentially good, you'll get some negative opinions. There is a reason some teams are good and some teams are awful. You listen to B&B today about those NFL rankings from scouts? As someone brought up, they were all ex-scouts, and the rankings showed why.

Wow, those scouts about Beckham must be watching another game. He hasn't even seen an inside fastball since he's been up, it seems. He's just getting under things and popping them up to the right side instead of driving them.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 04:09 AM) He means getting a pile of prospects for one of our legit players via trade. Ok, even though 3 of the 4 guys he mentioned were first round picks. There is one guy on our team that would fetch a potential game-changing prospect, and it's Jenks (assuming he's healthy )

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 04:08 AM) Just because the Sox don't slap you in the face and tell you they are rebuilding doesn't mean it's not happening. They are just trying to be more creative than your typical team going through this process. Shame on them. Well said...the Poreda move today is a perfect example of what you're saying.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 04:07 AM) Man I hope so. I would love to get a boat load of high level prospects that have a good chance of panning out. Where is our Longoria or Utley or Pedroia or Hanley Ramirez? did you miss some of the scouts saying Beckham should turn into one of the best hitters in baseball? In 3 years, I'll be shocked if Beckham doesn't put up numbers similar or better than Pedroia.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 05:01 AM) right a fire sale now probably won't reap as much as you could get on July 31st... even a very good pen arm can get a decent bidding war going between two teams and you could pull out a higher level prospect I think the best bet would be trading Dotel to the Phillies.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 05:02 AM) But, Fathom do you really believe that is correct thinking? I don't. You can't rush these guys. Maybe that;s what we are going to see with Beckham and Poreda? They are rushed. Absolutely not, it's terrible thinking. I think we're rushing Poreda, as he'll need 100 pitches to get past the 5th. Beckham is a special situation, and I think getting used to the speed of the majors is a great experience for him.

Sox attendance is up 2 percent so far this year. We're one of a handful of teams with a positive increase this year.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 04:55 AM) KW is delusional enough that he won't actually unload until July when he has to because the deadline is nearing anyways. He probably still thinks we're in the race. But he's going to be forced to sell off parts in July if we're out of it, and losing 4/5 to Detroit at home would go a long way towards putting us there. You know my thinking. If you're not going to end up within 5 games of the divisional lead (which means you're in it until the last week), then you might as well be out of it come the deadline.

QUOTE (tommy @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 04:55 AM) Ozzie said he wanted to face Granderson, because he knows Polanco is their most dangerous hitter. FWIW Then where was Thornton? The Tigers had ONE lefty in their stating lineup, what were we saving him for? I guess he only pitches in 6 run games.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 04:47 AM) There is a difference between rebuilding and just being dumb and forcing guys who aren't ready to play. That would be the latter. If we can't get Reed Johnson, I honestly believe some might start asking if Mitchell can contribute this season at the big league level.
