  1. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 03:36 AM) and that makes the decision to pitch to markakis look even worse Just hope it's not a one run game.
  2. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 02:34 AM) horrible decision to pitch to him....almost as bad as when we pitched to miguel cabrera with a base open last year When you're already losing, there's honestly no reason to pitch to him in that situation. Oh well, time to see what Clayton can do.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 03:32 AM) Um....there's an open base with a lefty on deck. That's just terrible...you never, ever pitch to their best player in a situation like that.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 03:32 AM) How many innings did he pitch during spring training? Considering he didn't throw off a mound until a little while before that and had not pitched since August, he's not going to be in mid season form. Maybe they should move him to the bullpen until he gets sharp, or maybe he gets his act together soon. I really don't know. All I know is its pretty unrealistic to thing he would be real sharp right now. Good stuff DA
  5. Um....there's an open base with a lefty on deck.
  6. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 03:30 AM) I won't divorce her, she saved me from having to watch this Jose start. On the bright side, tonight made me realize how enjoyable it is to watch our other 4 starters. They work fast, have good poise, and almost always give us a chance to win. Should be a very consistent season for us.
  7. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 03:29 AM) Damn. Gotta keep it at 2 here. We can get to their bullpen. Yep, walk Markakis, and then turn two
  8. Gross...should have never started this inning. His arm strength just isn't there right now, as he's been getting killed in the middle innings.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 02:28 AM) Do you really expect him to be sharp right now? He was out for 6 months then had less than half of spring training. He'll be fine as long as he stays healthy. He's having control problems. Looking at the teams he's going to be facing, how long do you give him to get into a groove? The thing is, it's probably a mute argument, as I can't see KW or Ozzie ever pulling him rotation unless he's hurt.
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 02:26 AM) EVerything is away to lefties. Everything. Jose has nothing left, IMO. Thank you for 05. 17-26, 5.26 ERA from 2007 to now He literally has not had a swing and miss on his forkball tonight. I've never seen that from him.
  11. Jose's next starts will be against Toronto, at Texas, Detroit, at Cleveland, and at Toronto That's going to be some pretty tough games for him with his current stuff.
  12. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 03:16 AM) I haven't double checked before saying this, but I'm pretty sure the O's bullpen is a mess. We'll probably see Johnson, Ray, and Sherrill the rest of the way. Their bullpen got Texas'd, which went crazy on the bullpen.
  13. Mercy, Pie was playing him deep. Who got hurt for the Orioles for this guy to pitch?
  14. 2 strike hit after Contreras hangs that awful splitter. Time to get him out of the game....and his contract can run out soon enough. Someone asked this question on the radio the other day: Is Jose's extension the worst contract of KW's career?
  15. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 02:07 AM) big batter here in scott....jose has actually been decent today....i'll certainly take this outing from him It's the best I've seen him against righty hitters since 2006
  16. Terrible Jose...lefties are getting such a great look at him. They're batting just about .400 against him this season. I really would rather have Richard in the rotation right now.
  17. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 01:59 AM) it's a miracle the orioles only have 2 runs, jose is just garbage right now Izturis has been up in just the right spot for the Sox this game.
  18. Richard and Thornton could do a ton of damage against this lineup.
  19. Basically no chance Roberts doesn't score. Contreras just isn't close to being on top of his game.
  20. And that would have been a sac fly. Do your thing CQ
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 01:54 AM) Anyway, for Anderson, yes he made an out, but he put the ball in play on the first pitch. He didn't do too much with it, just got the RBI, didn't want to risk falling behind. Decent strategy. Exactly..perfect approach. As we talked about the other day, he has to use his selective approach selectively.
  22. QUOTE (G&T @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 02:52 AM) Should ARam be at 3rd? Bad base running? Yes, he froze on a grounder hit right at him.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 02:51 AM) Let that be the one that gets it started for Alexei. Very promising that he's hit it on the button twice tonight.
  24. Good job by Anderson...Ramirez could have got to 3rd on that.
