  1. This wasn't the bullpen's fault. Buehrle should have never started the 8th inning. By brining in Dotel with Crawford on 1B, you were basically letting him walk into scoring position with no outs. Name me one person who had a good game? I can't think of anyone besides Dye. Oh well, hopefully they give us a thrill at home.
  2. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 01:15 AM) Tim Lincecum will NEVER be available, EVER, at least not until he's a FA or washed up. YOU DONT trade pitchers like that, your build around them. The Giants like Matt Cain more than Lincecum.
  3. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 01:14 AM) Really? I've see "trade Quentin, sign manny, trade thome" None, 0, nun of those are even remotely possible. You really want manny on this team? Nobody is going to take Thome unless we pay his entire salary. And I wont even respond to trading a 26 year old MVP. Stupidity, turn the game off, we won the AL central with 3/4ths of a team. There will be no fire sale. Stop posting, calm the hell down, take a breath and grab a beer. If you would have read the earlier posts, everyone but one person was saying there shouldn't be a fire sale. And yes, I would trade Quentin for Lincecum. Lincecum is one of the best young pitchers this decade, and Quentin just can't seem to avoid the injury bug. I'm Quentin's biggest fan (hell, I want to name my first kid Quentin), but yes, I would take Manny in LF if it meant adding Lincecum.
  4. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 01:14 AM) Our offense and bullpen takes a s*** once again... This was a total team effort. Not one person had a good game.
  5. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 01:13 AM) Fathom- you're the best at making trades that look dumb, yet upon further review they actually make sense. So- make up a potential trade partner for PK and what we could get back, would ya? Remember this about Lincecum...the Giants were close to trading him for Rios. If they sign C.C., they might be willing to trade him.
  6. On the bright side, PK's huge September made his trade value legit again.
  7. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 02:10 AM) hahahahah, man this place turns into a freak show during a loss. Do you guys call in to the score with these retarded ideas too? It was a legit post. Absolutely no reason for you to post this.
  8. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 02:09 AM) Who's going to want Thome though? There will be some team that values OBP.
  9. QUOTE (That funky motion @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 02:08 AM) Is lincecum the only pitcher that can help us? Yes
  10. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 01:05 AM) Yea hopefully so. They got us these 2...our team just needs to battle back. I am telling you...Tampa Bay WILL NOT win this series in Tampa Bay. We're not winning game 3 and 4 just to have Burls lose game 5. WONT HAPPEN. Im pissed, but it's over and done with. Tampa hit Buehrle pretty damn hard tonight. I don't know if Buehrle would have anything left in the tank. God bless him for his effort though.
  11. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 01:05 AM) I'm hoping that was sarcasm. Not really, but it would never happen.
  12. I like Tampa...only player who has pissed me off is Balfour. If they beat the Sox this series, I hope they win it all.
  13. QUOTE (zenryan @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 01:02 AM) any chance Dye can learn to play first base by next April? You missed my plan from last night...trade Quentin for Lincecum, and sign Manny.
  14. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 01:59 AM) Fire sale after we get eliminated, anyone else notice that every team in the AL playoffs can manufacture runs because they have speed?Angels,Red Sox and Rays...all the other team aren't swinging for the fences all the time, they can score without home runs unlike us.Just remember 2005,it was our pitching, defense and ability to produce runs with out always depending on the long ball,we did hit a lot of homers in 05 but unlike this year and lest you forget, last year we couldn't score without home runs...f*** you Williams, tear this team up. No offense, but this is a terrible post. We didn't have a fire sale after having the 8th worst record in baseball in 2007.
  15. Alexei is immune to making a good play to throw someone out at home.
  16. QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 12:56 AM) Not just making the playoffs! Making the Twinkies eat s*** doing it....Had the Sox just made the playoffs, I wouldn't be satisfied. Making the Twinkies suffer makes me satisfied. Honestly, this team is fairly poor without Quentin & Crede. That's an enormous amount of missing production. Can't really expect the late-season Sox to compete with a 97-win team like the Rays. The good news is that the Sox won't have to put Vazquez out there next year. Great post!
  17. Ugh...Ozzie's decision to leave Buehrle in for this inning was just pathetic.
  18. QUOTE (The Critic @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 12:52 AM) and only actually throws the ball 13% of the time. Blame that part of it on the pitchers being horses*** at holding runners on. My question is this: why doesn't our coaching staff stress this more?
  19. Did Ozzie just tell Dotel that CB is an asshole?
  20. QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 12:50 AM) You can tell it's the Rays' year, like it was ours in 05. We are that year's Red Sox. There are a ton of similarities, such as the Red Sox having to start a terrible Clement against us in game 1.
  21. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 12:48 AM) Getting into the postseason made me forget how terrible this team is. Could have easily won both games and what happens? LOL. That's why it was so important to make it. Like you said, people forget how much this team sucked in September.
  22. QUOTE (SoCalSouthSider59 @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 12:48 AM) Hey, it ain't Mark's fault, he pitched a solid game, blame it on our inept offense! Let's not act like Cubs fans now. He wasn't great...but he gave us a chance to win.
  23. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 12:46 AM) Gameday? Are you kidding? Computer simulation? That was a good pitch to Swisher...it was a GREAT PITCH actually...breaking off a 3-2 curve like that. And the zone on TV...I am watching as well and ive seen NOT A SINGLE pitch that was called wrong based on that...now ive missed a few pitches maybe, but not many. Keep the excuse parade going...the simple fact is OUR HITTERS GOT BEAT. If you missed the Iwamura pitch before the homer, then please just shut up about this, as that was one of the worst non-calls you'll see.
