  1. Poreda had a great start today...it will be interesting to see if he gets called up.

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 02:28 AM) Umpiring has been brutal all over Major League Baseball. Not just against us as Hawk may think. It really seems like the umps have been terrible towards the Sox this year.

    Apology

Between the awful called 3rd on Thome, the way the HBP were handled today, and the blown call at 2nd base that cost us two runs yesterday....I wouldn't mind not seeing this crew again.
  4. QUOTE (tommy @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 03:10 AM) Floyd vs Robertson Danks vs Verlander Vazques vs Miner Buehrle vs Lester It's amazing how we've missed Galarraga all season.
  5. Poreda's last minor league game?
  6. What's the pitching match-up for the Sox this week?
  7. QUOTE (tommy @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 03:02 AM) Forgot a catcher in there somewhere. Sorry, AJP for Konerko/Swisher.
  8. I prefer: Ramirez, OC, Quentin, Thome, Dye, Griffey Jr, PK, Crede, Swisher
  9. Do you think that if we had OC batting 2nd, that maybe Quentin would take more pitches in the 3rd spot? It seems like whenever AJP swings at first pitch, Quentin gets anxious as well.
  10. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 02:51 AM) We need Crede, Contreras, and Linebrink back. A lineup simular to this would be awesome, but most of all, the bullpen needs to pitch like they were when Joe Morgan said they might be the best bullpen ever. I still say he's the jinx. Cabrera Pierzynski Quinten Dye Thome Griffey Konerko Crede Ramirez Remember how awesome the bullpen was the day before Morgan said that? Matt Thornton looked like Billy Wagner against the Cubs, and Linebrink was amazing.
  11. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 02:44 AM) Legit information? We're in 2nd place. Thanks. I didn't think a real Sox fan would know this. You're the man. Here's an example of the information I wanted in here....information on A. Casilla was in about 5 different threads earlier in the week, and no one seemed to know what spot to put it in. And I know I'm not the first person to express disappointment in the catch-all threads, as information gets easily lost.
  12. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 01:38 AM) Not me. I have no idea. But hey, Chicken Little might be appropriate, might not. Time will tell. Hell, change the whole name to the August Catch-All thread for the Sox if it makes people feel better. It would be nice to combine the catch-all for Sox with updates on Twins/Tigers.
  13. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 02:32 AM) If KW could have got Street for Fields and Poreda i garuntee you he makes the deal, but according to Cowley, the A's asked for Danks or Floyd to go along with Fields and Poreda. The asking price for guys like Fuentes and Street were beyond crazy. So i dont blame KW on this one. Thankfully he didn't trade Fields/Poreda for Street.
  14. Who changed the title to "sky is falling"?
  15. QUOTE (letsgoarow @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 09:35 PM) im saying we go 13-6...lets be positive. Everyone has a bad stretch especially with our 5th starter, 3rd basemen, and set up guy out at the same time Twins have been without Neshek, Cuddyer, and Liriano for most of the season, and their catalyst Casilla is now out. This is where having players in your minors that can come up and contribute right away is extremely important.
  16. Crede isn't playing again today, and Contreras was clocked at 90 mph in the first inning. I honestly have doubts about all 3 of our guys coming off the DL to help again this year.
  17. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 09:44 PM) Cowley just said that Cederstrom apologized to the Sox for throwing Carrasco out. They looked at the tape and admitted they were wrong. There was nothing wrong with them tossing Carrasco.
  18. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 10:37 PM) Jose Contreras' line after the first inning today: 1 IP, 2 H, 3 BB, 0 K, 3 R, 3 ER. 28 pitches -- 13 strikes. 3 ground outs. Awesome!! But Ozzie was encouraged when he talked to him!!! Mercy, just start Carrasco or Poreda.
  19. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 09:26 PM) Oswalt has been bad for the most part this year. Wandy Rodriguez owns the Cubs. At least if Oswalt sucks vs Cubs, he'll probably throw at one of their hitters.
  20. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 09:22 PM) At least the Pirates took one game, that's all I was really hoping for. And now the Cubs get the great Houston Astros. And they miss Oswalt for the 100th time this year. Can Berkman improve on his .010 batting average vs the Cubs?
  21. Tigers continue to have bullpen trouble, as they lost on a bases loaded walk in the 10th
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 10:09 PM) Not really. Hadn't he gone like 10 scoreless until today? Of course, he should only be facing righties, but we have to use him as a long man for some reason.
  23. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 09:06 PM) I think Clayton Richard will be with the big club eating innings successfully before long. He absolutely can do it, but just like Buehrle and everyone else, he can't throw pitches right over the middle of the plate. As mentioned in the broadcast, he definitely wasn't throwing so many fat pitches in the minors or his fate would have been similar. / The hitting in AAA is just terrible, why don't people realize this? Jo-Jo Reyes was amazing in the same league this year, and had an ERA over 5 with the Braves before getting sent down.
  24. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 09:02 PM) Ha, yeah they do. Which is why this thread may be a blend of negativity/ posters coming in just to say this thread is your dream. Yep, those would be the posters who don't seem to comment on the game. Rather, they just comment on posts made by people criticizing the team.
