  1. Good AB so far for PK, but watch for the 3-2 change.
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ May 30, 2008 -> 11:33 PM) Wonder what PK will do. I'll take triple play
  3. Big double play...get those fork balls working against Pena.
  4. Lots of dropping down by Contreras so far.
  5. Well, that's gone at Wrigley today. I thought it was out anyways.
  6. QUOTE (SouthsideNorthsideFan @ May 30, 2008 -> 10:45 PM) Pittsburgh is better than Cincy and they swept Cleveland...if it weren't for the Cubs they'd have a decent record in the division. I guarantee that the Pirates don't end up with a better record than the Reds. The Pirates starting pitching is beyond awful. Hell, P. Dumatrait is their #1 right now, and he's terrible!
  7. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ May 30, 2008 -> 10:45 PM) A friend just called me and told me the same thing, and when I tell him the Cubs SHOULD be beating one of the worst teams in the NL all he has is "they're better than KC, the NL is just better overall." If he wasn't a good friend he might get decked in the mouth. Greinke's ERA in the NL would be around 2.
  8. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ May 30, 2008 -> 09:34 PM) While the ALC is not proving to be nearly as good as preseason predictions, it is tough to miss how bad the NLW is right now. Of course, no one mentions that the Tigers are 16-12 against other AL teams not in the AL Central.
  9. Guys, don't worry....they face Glendon Rusch tomorrow! The newspaper should be loaded with tributes and editorials about his triumphant return.
  10. Reason #100005 why I hate the Cubs and their fans. An actual smart baseball friend of mine at work was trying to say how the AL Central is the worst division in baseball. He's like "the Pirates would destroy the Tigers right now". There's already a few teams in the NL who's season is over....Padres, Rockies, Nationals, and Giants.
  11. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 30, 2008 -> 10:22 PM) Today's game won't go down in some sort of lore. They beat one of the three worst teams in baseball on a warm May day where the wind was howling out. This home season for them as a whole might go down in lore for them at this rate though, they don't even need to win on the road right now (and they haven't since their opening series). The home/road splits for their hitters are just astounding. This Rockies team is far and away the worst team in baseball with all of their injuries right now. The next worse team is the Padres....but the Cubs don't play them for a long time!
  12. I'm thinking there's going to be a special edition newspaper to commemorate today's Cubs game. I went on chicagosports.com earlier to read the Sox news, and it really seemed like an afterthought on the site.
  13. Where's Luis Terrero when you need him?
  14. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 30, 2008 -> 09:17 PM) I don't think I've ever seen a team better bulit for their ballpark than this years Cubs, and their record both at home and on the road reflects it. That park is truly a joke when the wind blows out, as soon as it was 9-1, I predicted they would come back and win, it was so obvious that it was almost common sense. Just hope the Cardinals stay hot, because the Cubs will cool off at home eventually, but also don't put any emotional stock into what the blue b****es do, because your just going to be miserable when they are at home. I still wonder how people think the NL is on the rebound too, every team the Cubs play is awful, even the Diamondbacks have lost 4 in a row and are generally turning for the worst. The fact that the Cardinals, Marlins, and Astros are right there in the NL (and none of them have ANY real pitching), says a lot. I've already started thinking of who I want to see in the playoffs with them. I'd have to say Arizona, Mets, and Phillies. Cole Hamels owns the Cubs, so if the Phillies end up winning the Wild Card, that would be a tough series for the Cubs. And this is totally hypothetical, so spare me the "I can't believe you're saying they're in the playoffs already by the end of May".

How about the fact the game was in the 7th inning, and with 3 lefties in a row for the Cubs, the Rockies didn't have a lefty they could bring in?
  16. G. Atkins is 0-10 with 10 men left on base in this series. I feel bad for Rockies fans....they probably thought they'd have meaningful games all season.
  17. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 30, 2008 -> 10:12 PM) I see your point and it will be so hard to judge that issue looking back. In Helton's defense, they did start using the humidor balls which I believe did impact overall numbers at Coors and he is getting older. That will be something a lot of younger fans haven't seen, players getting older and their gradual decline That's very true...I was thinking that about Thome the other day. We're just not used to seeing players actually decline in their 35-40's.
  18. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 30, 2008 -> 09:11 PM) I credit the Cardinals for hanging around like they have. If Mulder and/or Carpenter can give them anything when they come back they'll make it a race for the entire season Mulder's career is likely over. As a Cubs hater, you should hope he doesn't return. I still think the Astros are the best bet to hang around, but I still see the Cubs as the clear cut top team in the NL Central.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2008 -> 10:09 PM) Well, the only person who responded with more vehemence to the allegation than Helton did was Clemens. Helton got the only guy who accused him in a paper to take it back really, really quick. I guess it's just really peculiar timing then that his numbers went way down after the .2004 season.
  20. Well, they're going 73-8 at home this season.
  21. Why in the world would Atkins be taking on a 3-0 down a run with this wind? Ugh, this teams facing the Cubs freaking suck.
