My favorite former PED user is on fox today. That player would be Fernando Tatis. He's sooooo skinny now.
-
Pablo owns Kazmir. He's 1-1 with a double and a broken bone in his career against him.

QUOTE (29andPoplar @ May 31, 2008 -> 09:28 PM) It's one big giant conspiracy I tell you. My God, it's the last day in May, tune down the angst. Lots of things can and probably will happen. One thing that typing that out made me realize is just how many shortstops have gotten injured this season in the NL. Also, I just heard on Fox that the Dodgers and Furcal were getting close to a contract extension prior to his injury. I had not heard they were even negotiating.

QUOTE (daa84 @ May 31, 2008 -> 08:32 PM) granderson, carmona (but laffey has been better anyways), howie kendrick, aybar, Good call on Granderson. It does stink we faced Posada, and he did very well in the series vs the Sox. Then, he goes on the DL a few days later.

Lots of things can and probably will happen. or maybe we're just talking about the horrible depth in the NL. As Daa brought up, when Glendon Rusch and Jason Grilli are pitching in the same game, it better be in the Independent League.

How about who's been missing from teams when they played them: Phillies- Rollins Dbacks- Hudson Rockies- Holliday, Hawpe, Tulo Pirates- Jack Wilson Dodgers- Furcal, Jeff Kent Mets- Alou Nats- D. Young I'm trying to think who's been missing from teams the Sox played, and the only guy I can really think of is ARod and Cuddyer. Hafner and Sexson were out, but those guys aren't anything special now.

Griffey Jr. hit #599

Buster Olney said a name to watch for the Cubs as the season goes on is C.C. Sabathia.

73-8

I refuse to watch, but my brother just IM'd me to tell me that Marmol got a 3-1 pitch to lead off the inning called for a strike that was 6 inches inside and the catcher was set up outside. Sounds like the same old, same old.

We're stuck with Lethal Weapon 3, for better or worse. The Sox just aren't in any position to make big trades this season, unless they fall out and they make Contreras available.
-
Question...which of these guys are Boras clients?
-
I heard the Cubs will be facing Steve Trout next week. I think if the Rockies let Rusch pitch this entire game, he might allow 30 runs.
-
Why would the Reds take a SS? They have Phillips, Frazier, and Keppinger up the middle.
-
I believe the Cubs have now lead in 22 straight games....reminds me of the Sox to start 2005 .

What should Ozzie do with Swisher?
fathom replied to Kenny Hates Prospects's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 31, 2008 -> 05:30 PM) Swisher is brutal. Its amazing how many people actually want him to play first base. He had a big power drop off last season and this year it continues to drop. Believe me, if the Cubs had traded for him, most of his supporters here would be bringing up PEDs. I'm not saying that he used them, but the power drop off has to make you wonder. Its time Anderson gets to play. I have a hard time believing if he got Swisher's playing time, he couldn't perform better than what we have seen from Nick. I don't think it matters what team he's on....people on here have been saying they think he's off the juice. -
So the Giants are obsessed with Smoak, so he's probably not going to be there. The word going around the BA office is that KW has his sights set on Beckham of Uga. KW went to see Beckham at the SEC tournament, and he stunk. I didn't know that Wallace won the Pac10 triple crown two straight seasons.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 31, 2008 -> 05:16 AM) Here is a quote from WSI, I dont know how factual this is. Are you sure those aren't Swisher's stats? He was .220 vs LHP and .203 vs RHP coming into tonight's game.

QUOTE (ScottyDo @ May 31, 2008 -> 04:04 AM) i'm not one to make too many excuses, but we HAVE faced some really ridiculously good pitching of late. check the ERA's of the people we've faced recently and maybe we'll get a piece of the picture as to why our offense has looked so awful of late. Yep, the great Jered Weaver who got rocked by Toronto tonight.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 31, 2008 -> 05:14 AM) I assume this is sarcasm in regards to needing sources, but the only two sources you need to see that kid is going to spend a lot of time at the all star game are eyes. Yes, that was sarcasm

I just told my wife about Hawk's son proposal, and she came up with a good question: what if one of her friends was watching, and texted her to let her know what was going to happen before that first out?
-
QUOTE (rangercal @ May 31, 2008 -> 03:26 AM) How about giving the Rays some credit? Carl Crawford did have a very exciting miss on that foul ball in the 9th. The best part of the game was Hawk's son getting engaged.

QUOTE (Brian @ May 31, 2008 -> 04:21 AM) Lakers vs. Celtics. The match up most intriguing to me. Go Lakers
-
I assume we get Greinke, Hochevar, and Meche next week vs KC. We really need Thome and Swisher to pick it up to help against righty pitching.
-
QUOTE (29andPoplar @ May 31, 2008 -> 03:20 AM) No doubt about it, but what do you do there? I mean, those guys aren't going anywhere, they aren't going to be traded. I hate to say they're proven players but they are. So, you make an incremental improvement and that's at leadoff. I guess I'm grasping at straws like others here, based on giving up only 6 hits tonight and still losing the game. I still say you move Thome into the 2nd spot. Not only could he see more fastballs if OC can reach base, but if OC is on, the opposition can't put on the exaggerated shift.
