  1. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 12:49 AM) Javy Vazquez is awesome. I'm surprised he doesn't win 20 every year. He's got such a losing mentality. He pitches just well enough to lose. He's the opposite of guys like Garcia or Pettitte, etc.
  2. QUOTE(spiderman @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 12:44 AM) Look at this lineup. AJ batting 3rd.... Mackowiak leading off... Uribe batting 6th... Dye can't hit.... Luis Terrero in CF..... It's just a bad lineup. 8 minor leaguers on the roster. It's bad when I see the Astros lineup, and I think they have a lot better talent. This Phils lineup reminds me of the Yankees lineup. You see it, and you just don't feel like a team that can score more than 3 runs can beat them. Hamels will be interesting tomorrow.
  3. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 12:41 AM) I wonder if Jermaine has been reviewing tapes to figure out what he's doing so differently from last year. He's not staying on top. He's hitting so many pop-ups this year. Last year, he was a line drive machine, as he would spray the ball all around the field with authority. I can't think of more than one or two hits he's had with authority to the opposite field this year. We just need to trade him yesterday, as his value will keep going down. It would be impressive if we lose another game 2-0 where the only hits we allow our homers.
  4. QUOTE(rafacosta @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 12:38 AM) this is disgusting....why Terrero is not hitting in front of Uribe? You're not allowed to question Ozzie....it's not his fault.
  5. Someone please explain to me why we have our worst two hitters hitting in front of Terrero, who might be our 2nd best hitter after PK right now? Oh well....not a lot you can do. I would have loved to see Ozzie bring in Thome to hit there. Might as well use him in a situation he can do some damage.
  6. Please just trade him so we don't have to watch him bat anymore.
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 12:27 AM) Good to hear, I'm glad someone took responsability for this I think it was Thom Brenneman who said that so many people are taking responsibility for the poor player....that it's time for someone to do something about the poor player. It shouldn't be a pissing contest to see who can take more blame.
  8. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 12:26 AM) He came out and said "blame me. I put this team together." Sounds like the opposite of what you are asying Yes, but is he willing to blow the team up and admit they didn't have it this season? I'd have so much respect if KW did this.
  9. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 12:24 AM) They aren't going to catch Cleveland and they have a few teams to jump over for the wildcard. I don't think they can win unless a miracle happens and the bullpen can get someone out. I have a feeling KW is not going to want to admit failure however. Buerhle should bring a nice package. Dye could bring something back as well and save money. They actually would have more money to throw at Buerhle this offseason the sooner they deal him. If he's serious about being here that is. I wonder how its going to go over on this board when he signs with the Cardinals and at his introductory press conference says St. Louis is the place he always wanted to be. St. Louis would be such a good trade candidate, if only they had better prospects. I could see Reyes turning into KW's Floyd boy, and he'd be the centerpiece of the trade. If Buehrle doesn't stay with the Sox, I'd love to see him go to the Cards.
  10. QUOTE(spiderman @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 12:24 AM) I don't know that Williams can wait that long to make a move - IF he intent on helping the team this season. Cleveland and Detroit are just too good to hope the current situation improves....Oh wait, I forgot D.Erstad is coming back! He better not even think about making a big move to help this team. And BTW, the reports on Erstad aren't promising. It went from him being sure he could return after 15 days to him saying that he's not sure how long he'll be out. He's a tough dude, but that's a painful injury and something he's going to tweak a few more times this year.
  11. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 12:19 AM) is mack the worst leadoff hitter ever for the whitesox He's not even the worst of the last two weeks. The problem with Mackowiak is he's streaky, and he's in a bad funk now. Might as well let Terrero try, even though I think we're going to rush Pods back now.
  12. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 12:18 AM) It's time to seriously consider it, Williams. Not to necessarily trade away everything now, but if someone blows us away with a package for either Dye or Buehrle, it may be wise to think about approving it. Two weeks is my prediction. If the Cubs kick our ass, then you'll hear everyone saying we're done.
  13. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 12:18 AM) This team has no f***ing clue on what a strike is. You throw it over their melon, they swing at it. You burn a worm 10 feet in front of home plate and they are swinging at it. We are an anti-OBP team. We have huge long home run cuts in positions that we need a single. Just say we suck...it's much more efficient. Losing's never been so easy to handle.
  14. If Ozzie managed (and I hope it's soon) in the NL, he might bunt 5 times a game.
  15. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 12:10 AM) Or his typical 6 inning 4 or 5 runs with 7 k's and people talking about how great he pitched. Sutcliffe believes he tips his pitches. He was calling location by his wind up. Been meaning to ask you DA....what's your thoughts on if it's better for this team to lose right now over the next few weeks in order to convince KW and Ozzie that this team sucks?
  16. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 12:08 AM) looking Forward to Javy giving up 2-3 runs tonight and getting blamed for the loss He won't get blamed, but it would be nice to see him shut out the other team once instead of doing just enough to lose.
  17. Gotta love how we let Howard beat us with 2 outs and no one on. He's on absolute fire right now, and you're better off treating him like Bonds during his prime, because his power is that good.
  18. It's sad that 1 hit through 4 innings against a pitcher with a 6 ERA isn't upsetting anymore. Not being able to use Thome and Konerko in the same lineup makes a terrible lineup even worse. But hey, at least Greg Walker deserves none of the blame. As Farmer says "when this team starts hitting, they won't stop".
  19. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 11:49 PM) I know this isn't the place but did you watch the Cub game last night? What's the deal with this Fontenot character? I liked what I saw. Fontenot is a nice, scrappy little hitter. He's the exact type of middle infielder we've lacked in our system that can come up and hit a little if needed. I'm pretty sure he's the last remaining piece of the Sosa deal. And yes I watched the game, and my love for Willie Harris grows more and more.
  20. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 11:48 PM) I swear, if Jesus came back you'd say "ahh damn all that crazy stuff in Revelations is gonna kills us all now". Since when have you been in a position to criticize other people saying negative stuff? I even admitted later on that I hadn't seen the article....I just wanted to make sure that Ichiro wasn't referring to the cold....you know, since people have already started to pencil him into the lineup. EDIT: We know very little about what Ichiro is looking for in terms of his next team. We do know that he's looking for a team that can compete for the World Series next year. Between our likely .500 or so record this year, and him complaining about the cold, I didn't think it was a good sign for us. That's all....not much more to it. I don't think we'll get him next year, as he's going to get a ton of money and we'd be better off trying to get someone younger and save some of the money to upgrade in other positions like SS.
  21. Anyone get the feeling that it doesn't matter if a pitcher has a 2 ERA coming into the game vs the Sox or a 22 ERA? This team just makes getting runners and scoring runs seem very difficult. If the Sox can't start playing better and actually winning more games than they lose after the next two weeks, then the fire sale needs to begin.
  22. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 11:35 PM) Yeah I thought Utley crushed his and Terrero caught it 2 steps shy of the track in front of the 401 sign, Fields one looked like a fly ball and was caught a step from the wall at the 401 sign. Fields has so much more potential than a lot of our recent prospects. Joe Borchard's problem was that he couldn't touch an offspeed pitch. Right now, Fields is struggling more with the fastball, which shouldn't be an issue as he gets comfortable. I've seen so many prospects the last couple of years around baseball look completely lost at first, and then all of a sudden, they make the game look so much easier. On the pitching side, Rich Hill is the perfect example of this. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 11:36 PM) Rolling curveball. That is a flashback to the kinda pitches he was throwing in the 6th inning last year. Did anyone actually think Javy wouldn't struggle with the longball at this park? Javy's curveball just isn't very good, especially since he's lost his velocity. I remember when he was coming up with Montreal, he would throw a 95 mph fastball followed by a wicked slider.
  23. Has Hawk started proclaiming Eaton as Cy yet?
  24. With all the other crap going on, Uribe continues to have his worst season ever with the Sox. I really think we need to go in a new direction at the SS position next season.
  25. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 11:23 PM) Pods has returned. Say what?
