  1. What an atrocious team. If they're going to suck, at least be exciting.
  2. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 8, 2008 -> 07:18 PM) The problem is that Ozzie was a bad hitter who ran around, slapped the ball and played good defense. So his concept of a good offense might be a bit skewed. One of these days, people will realize Ozzie is the worst type of manager for the current personnel on this team.
  3. Danks kept nibbling. His best pitch is his fastball today, but he hasn't used it well this inning. Very nice piece of hitting by the Twins.
  4. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 8, 2008 -> 07:14 PM) I would have Quentin in the 3 hole. Dye in the 4th, AJ in the 5th But who would be on for Quentin? Hell, but Thome in the 2nd spot.
  5. Stupid pitch selection to Everett. No reason to speed up his bat.
  6. QUOTE (whitesoxmanager @ May 8, 2008 -> 07:11 PM) WHERE THE f*** IS BRIAN ANDERSON? He's no Jerry Owens defensively, so why does it matter? Sad this is this is the perfect pitcher for him. However, Ozzie will probably play him next time we face a slider specialist starter.
  7. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 8, 2008 -> 08:09 PM) Kenny stated that you can tell when Quentin was healthy he would crush the ball to right center, that his true power swing was to right center. I hate the idea of Quentin in the 2nd spot. He should be batting 4th or 5th, because at least there's a slight chance Thome or Dye or AJP might get on. I really want AJP in the 2nd or 3rd spot.
  8. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 8, 2008 -> 07:07 PM) Quintin with a sad little roller to third on the second pitch. Walker has gotten to him finally. Here comes the "meat" of the order. Thome making sure that shift is always working. Farmio and Stone really making sure we the listener know why Thome is sucking right now. Stone ripping on this team right now about the stupidity of the team and Konerko validates him nicely with a little looper to left to help Cuddyer get off the field first. Walker needs to be fired based on what Stoen is saying. If this keeps up, the big four besides Cooper need to go.
  9. How are people not booing at the game?
  10. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 8, 2008 -> 07:05 PM) I'm watching this on the computer, but it said Thome grounded out on a 89 MPH FB in the middle of the plate That was after he swung and missed an 88 mph fastball down the plate.
  11. BTW, outside fastball to all three hitters starting of their at bats this inning.
  12. I'm convinced the radar gun is 7 mph slow. That's the only way they can be struggling with such a mediocre fastball.
  13. Quentin takes the first pitch outside fastball, and then weakly grounds out to 3rd base.
  14. Is that a cutter he's throwing down and in on righties? It's filthy
  15. QUOTE (G&T @ May 8, 2008 -> 06:58 PM) What is Walker's hitting philosophy? And don't just say "lift and pull." I mean, we all know what Coop's pitching philosophy is and what he preaches and it filters down the organization. He says it all the time. But has Walker ever said anything about his keys to hitting or what the approach should be? His approach is looking at the back of a baseball card.
  16. PK unable to range an inch to his right, possibly preventing a double play.
  17. Beautiful swing by Mauer on the 3-2 pitch.
  18. Danks is looking at a tough inning.
  19. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 8, 2008 -> 07:53 PM) This is comically bad and this team is slipping as the days go on right into last season. I defended this until this season and recently have bought into the something has to give line. While Cleveland and Detroit are playing the tough teams the Sox are giving the Twins first place and waiting to really get pounded on the upcoming road trip. Toronto and Minnesota are not good hitting teams which I think is leading to an overestimation of the pitching to a degree while I think they are good, they are going to slip. Why does anyone now think this funk is going to pass. It has been here for almost a season and a half. I really want to stay optimistic because the pitching has looked great but they are looking like s*** and doing nothing about it. Cleveland's looking pretty good now with Lee's rejuvenation.
  20. Great job by Danks of holding Gomez that time.
  21. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 8, 2008 -> 06:44 PM) anyone have the pleasure of watching the game? Can Hawk even spin Slowey yet? He did an awesome job with Livan and his career ERA + of 100 Yes, he's been talking about his pinpoint control.
  22. 0-2 hanging curve goes for a hit for Gomez. From what I can tell, he's a better offspeed hitter right now than a fastball hitter.
  23. QUOTE (G&T @ May 8, 2008 -> 06:43 PM) Yeah, it's not talent, and it's not ability. For 2 years every single pitcher in baseball has thrown nothing but off speed pitches on the outer half and for 2 years nobody in the lineup can hit it and everyone looks baffled by it. Absolutely amazing. 2 years? This has been going on for about 5 years. Do you not remember Rowand being allergic to hitting low and away sliders?
  24. In case you missed it, Slowey threw 4 straight 88 mph fastballs to Crede on the outside corner. First three were taken, and all should have been called strikes. Then, on the 1-2, Crede put a swing on it like he was protecting on a hit-and-run.
