  1. This has to be the worst week of Sox baseball I've watched on TV in my life. I find myself flipping channels when the Sox are up, something I never usually do.
  2. QUOTE (daa84 @ May 4, 2008 -> 05:27 PM) the toronto radar gun has to be off....no way that slider is 92 ....halladay is good and has good stuff but they have had his 2 seamer at 96...i think the gun is a bit juiced Thinking the same...it had Jose 2 mph off also.
  3. I'm convinced that it doesn't matter who's on the mound, this team wouldn't score more than 3 runs against anyone. Bring on Jim Parque...he'd shut them down!
  4. Good start...the boys seem energetic again!
  5. 2 up, 2 K for the horrible 1/2 Sox hitters. I hate that Ozzie doesn't have the guts to shake everything up.
  6. Swisher chases a pitch a foot off the plate on 3-2.
  7. QUOTE (Brian @ May 4, 2008 -> 03:02 AM) Cubs send Rich Hill to AAA Iowa. I have a feeling he is in Pinella's dog house and we may not see him for awhile. Leiber will start now. Something to consider with moving Lieber into the starting spot. He's pitched a lot of innings this season coming in for Lilly and Hill. The lineups in those games were righty dominant. Lieber has always had use splits against righties/lefties. Thus, he will now face more lineups that are set with lefty hitters from the beginning.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 4, 2008 -> 06:04 AM) He's no Ryan Dempster. fathom. Quality post
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 4, 2008 -> 09:58 AM) After looking it up, which one is the right answer? http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/7964
  10. Quick trivia....which relief pitcher has a .33 WHIP in 12 innings this season?
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 4, 2008 -> 02:17 AM) Find me a post where I said Floyd or Danks are the real deal based off nice April's and I'll never post on this board again. But atleast with them they're young and there's upside. There's no upside with Dempster. He's just not that good. I hope you're right...please, please don't think I'm rooting for him to do well.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 4, 2008 -> 02:11 AM) LMAO. You are so full of it sometimes. Ryan Dempster's career ERA as a starter is well over 5. s***, it might be over 6. And you're slurping his ass because of a few decent starts? Lou has been babying his sorry ass all year. Taking him out just before he's about to get slammed. How many times has he gone past the 6th inning? Once? And you want to talk about competiton? He's faced the Pirates twice and the Nationals. Not to mention a Brewers team that's fallen way short of offensive expecations. He could be sporting the exact same numbers he is now with the Sox and you would be saying s*** like "it's a fluke" or "it's just a matter of time before he's exposed." Just admit you like the Cubs. It's not that difficult. Would you say that Gavin Floyd is a fluke then? His career ERA is worse than Dempster's as a starter. And BTW, I mentioned the teams that Owings has faced because I knew you'd bring up who Dempster faced.

It's not that difficult. Yep, I like the Cubs. There's probably no one on the planet who hates them more than I do. You were probably one of those posters earlier in the year that said their offense isn't good. It's very possible their offense ends up with one of the best hitting players at the following positions: catcher/1b/3b/lf/rf
  14. QUOTE (CWSGuy406 @ May 4, 2008 -> 03:07 AM) Seriously? I wouldn't bet money either way, baseball's too variable and I don't know enough about Owings. If forced I'd lean towards Owings because even if he's a 5.00 ERA pitcher, he still adds value on offense. Your implication in your posts about Dempster are hilarious, though. You're certainly correct about Dempster, though -- his 22-to-19 K-to-BB ratio and his .192 BABIP don't scream "luck" one bit. Nope, not at all. What's his GO/FO ratio this year? It's been interesting watching him, as he's about 5 mph slower this season. I'm not even saying Dempster is great. It was just in response to J4Life's post that if Dempster was on Sox, I'd want him out of rotation.
  15. C.C. is picking it up, as he's allowed only 1 run in his last 20 innings or so. Quick question for those lurking: who would you say were the players most associated with the Sox this offseason? I was thinking it was M. Cabrera, Rowand, Fukudome, and T. Hunter. Anyone else?
  16. I'd also like to say that when it's all said and done, the Astros will get 2nd place in the NL Central. Their lineup is really solid. Tejada looks sensational so far.
  17. QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ May 4, 2008 -> 02:56 AM) Chase Utley, you are ridiculous! That 1.22 OPS is decent...think we can get him for Crede?
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ May 4, 2008 -> 02:56 AM) Owings vs Dempster....your thoughts? Also, I think it's ironic that you say I'm making a big deal out of the first month, as I'm probably the lone person on here who still says the Tigers will dominate this season and cruise to the AL Central title.
  19. QUOTE (CWSGuy406 @ May 4, 2008 -> 02:54 AM) LOL -- funniest post ever. You've had a banner week making a big deal out of one month of the season for multiple players. Keep up the good work. Owings vs Dempster....your thoughts?
  20. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 4, 2008 -> 02:47 AM) Of course you would. He's a Cub. If he were on the Sox you would demand that Kenny/Ozzie be fired for having him in our rotation. Yeah, that 3.16 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and .173 batting average makes me think he should be out of the rotation. 4 of Owings 6 starts have been against the offensive powerhouses of the Giants/Padres/Dodgers to account for a 4.66 ERA. I like Owings, but he wouldn't even be higher than a 5th starter in the AL.
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 4, 2008 -> 01:42 AM) I'd take Owings easily over anybody in the Cubs' rotation save Zambrano. Why? He's not exactly a stellar pitcher. I would bet money Dempster ends up with a better ERA.
  22. QUOTE (Brian @ May 4, 2008 -> 12:32 AM) I wanna see Webb win 30 games. Here's a shock...Cubs won't face him next weekend.
  23. QUOTE (Brian @ May 4, 2008 -> 12:32 AM) I wanna see Webb win 30 games. You have to love Augie Ojeda
  24. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 3, 2008 -> 09:21 PM) None of that is new news. Rumors like that have been going on every week since the day Webster left. However Richmond is a problem child and Webster enjoys catering to recruits like that (as you've seen with some of the generally not good people that have come into the Illinois basketball program in the 2004 to 2007 range), so if he were to switch to UK, it wouldn't surprise me. Richmond's dad loves the attention...these rumors will continue for a long time.
