  1. QUOTE (almagest @ May 2, 2008 -> 03:11 PM) They're gonna have to get and stay pretty hot to dig themselves out of that hole. Sweeping the Yanks is a good start, though. I still think they'll have a hard time maintaining a long winning streak because of their pitching. The Tigers are going to win the AL Central by 10 games. The only team even close to them is the Indians, especially if C.C. picks it up. The Sox, Twins, and Royals will be in the 70-80 win range.
  2. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ May 2, 2008 -> 11:26 PM) I think that's basically game right there. I don't see this team scoring 3 runs off Marcum today. Slow and low with everything. We know how this team sucks against a pitcher like that.
  3. BTW, that's 5 errors on Joe Crede. That's on pace for about 30 this season.
  4. Ozzie letting Buehrle pitch to Stewart in the first inning was one of the worst managerial decisions I've ever seen. It's the closest I've seen Hawk come to criticizing the idiot.
  5. Why in the f*** would you challenge Stewart, especially inside with Buehrle's horrible fastball? Considering Overbay is brutal against Buehrle, Ozzie should be ridiculed for that decision. What a terrible manager.
  6. Thankfully that went into the crowd. This team just has no energy.
  7. Ugh, more terrible defense by the Sox. Swisher's effort to scoop that was awful though. Another inning where Buehrle gets no defensive support.

Finally saw "Cloverfield". Very disappointed in it, had much higher expectations. I was very surprised by how much I liked "Alvin and the Chipmunks".
  9. Honestly, that was the worst check swing non-call in the history of baseball.
  10. Terrible at bat by Cabrera. He sure pulls off the ball for someone with no power.
  11. Marcum's got a pretty wicked cutter he throws inside on righties. If our guys aren't aggressive with 2 strikes, we'll see a ton of called 3rd strikes.
  12. QUOTE (knightni @ May 2, 2008 -> 07:11 PM) The solution is probably trading Dye, Konerko or Thome for a speedier 2B in the offseason. I'd really rather avoid trading another slugger for a speedy offensive player. Don't forget that there's a huge whole at SS next season also.
  13. Yesterday was a great day for the Cubs....Gallardo tore his ACL.
  14. Tigers look really good. Cabrera is putting up big numbers now, Polanco looks healthier, and they've made a lot of good decision in who to keep and who to get rid of in their bullpen.
  15. Was Kapler's double close to going out?
  16. I feel bad now for ragging on Chris Lofton as much as I did saying how bad he played last year.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 1, 2008 -> 09:22 PM) Frankly the cubs have a horseshow up their ass offensively so far this season. Len and Bob were going through their OBP, I would expect a nasty drop from everyone in the lineup with the exception of DLEE and FUdome. No way in hell Theriot ends up with a .400 OBP, he may flirt with .330 True, but I don't think people realized just how much they upgraded their RF and C position from last year. Soto very well could end up being the best hitting catcher in baseball in terms of power production. When Soriano heats up, that's a scary lineup.
  18. I hate when the Cubs bring in Marmol. It seems like teams have no prayer against him.
  19. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 1, 2008 -> 08:09 PM) So Gallardo jams Kosuke, and he gets a hit out of it. What happened on that play? Also, did he make a good throw home to get Fielder?
  20. I don't understand how teams like the Sox and Brewers can go into a season with so many righty hitters on their roster.
  21. He's probably one of those guys who thought the Carlos Lee for Pods trade was good, in terms of straight up talent.
  22. QUOTE (Soxpranos @ May 1, 2008 -> 04:30 AM) We have faced some pretty lousy pitchers as well, but our offense does not capitalize. Give the Cubs credit for what their offense is doing , we need to get it going. Cubs have 4 guys in Theriot, Lee, Derosa, and Fukudome who spray the ball to all fields. If they get this type of production from Soto, they're a top 3 team in the NL. Hopefully Soriano returns and plays as bad as he did prior to the injury.
  23. QUOTE (rangercal @ May 1, 2008 -> 04:30 AM) wow Turnbow just could not get that last out His time with the Brewers will be over soon.
