Wainwright hurt his finger tonight. Let's hope it's not like what Ben Sheets had.

Belmont Stakes
Something seems very fishy with this whole thing. No one can find anything wrong with Big Brown, and considering the money they're going to get for his stud fees, you have to wonder if this was planned out IN CASE he wasn't going to win.

There's no chance Crede can be a Type A.

Great play by PK gets Buehrle out of the inning with the Sox still having the momentum.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jun 8, 2008 -> 01:11 AM) Crede is a Twins killer this season. Seems like he's been great against the whole AL Central.

Time for Buehrle to shut down the opposition after a big inning, something he's struggled with this year.

Nice to see Swisher stay back on pitches. Crede needs to get another run in.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 7, 2008 -> 11:17 PM) My Titans have there backs to the wall. They had a couple spots in yesterdays game that could have gotten them the extra run or two they would have needed to pull out the win. Now they got to win 2 straight against a good Cardinal squad. Ratliff's homers last night = bomb

QUOTE (tommy @ Jun 8, 2008 -> 01:00 AM) Sac Fly for Thome, 1:0 good guys, I was kinda scared for Paulie there. Just an awkward play. Our on-deck hitters need to make sure they're behind the catcher telling these hitters if/when to slide.

I can't wait for the day that Zambrano suffers a season-ending injury due to his stupid antics.

Wow, Fukudome drops a play he dives on which should have been caught. Bad defense must be contagious, and I'm surprised Piniella left Zambrano in so long. Finish it Broxton and Saito!

Some bad Cubs defense this inning allows the Dodgers to tie the game. Theriot has dropped two throws on steal attempts.

White Sox sign Esteban Loaiza/Option Wassermann
QUOTE (quickman @ Jun 7, 2008 -> 09:48 PM) this signing actaully just shows how poor our minor league system really is. if you cannot go down and get someone from triple AAA to be a mop guy then your system is hurting. Hopefully this won't hurt us. Loaiza looked like the same pitcher last night that he did for the Dodgers last season when I saw him pitch. Hopefully we don't have to use him in a close game.

Draft
QUOTE (29andPoplar @ Jun 7, 2008 -> 04:12 PM) Callis appears to need either electro shock therapy, a Red Bull I.V., a personality transplant, or all of the above. Again it has nothing to do with the actual draft but if they're trying to PR this thing on ESPN2, get someone who doesn't come off as a bored librarian. He's a boring version of John Clayton. From what I can gather, the Sox are ecstatic with this draft, as they got the one person they wanted to get in this. When you have one pick out of the first 85, you better make that pick count.

Draft
QUOTE (29andPoplar @ Jun 7, 2008 -> 05:02 PM) Oh and by the way, in the Baseball America chat someone asked that mealy mouthed Jim Callis about his impressions of the White Sox draft. He said he loves Gordon Beckham but that the rest of the draft class looks ordinary. Which makes me optimistic. And why is that? Because I have learned to take everything Baseball America says with a huge grain of salt. More than a grain actually, a whole salt lick. Not that it matters but did anyone see Callis on the ESPN2 draft coverage, I mean come on, does the guy realize he's on tv, does he understand how to smile and not look like he's been turned to stone? This is two years in a row that he came across like a zombie. Which has nothing to do with anything, just an off the cuff observation. As always, time will tell with this draft. I feel the same way after every draft, could have done better, could have done worse, why didn't they draft a true leadoff hitter type in the early rounds, etc. etc. They really can't choose a worse representative than Callis. Will Kimmel's been doing a much better job with the college coverage.
