  1. Why does the opposition always act so surprised when Marmol or Wood throw a slider with two strikes?
  2. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 6, 2008 -> 04:51 AM) People just don't pitch to the scouting report against the Cubs, at least when I see them play. It is baffling, but when you watch how dumb people pitch them you see one of the many reasons their offense has been so good. Throw sliders to Soriano, inside fastballs to Theriot (with your 2nd baseman playing him like he's a pull lefty), and sliders to Soto. I do like the Cubs having Soto, Edmonds, and Derosa batting in order. The PEDs boy should be their nickname.
  3. Just terrible pitch selection by Saito. Fukudome was way behind on the fastball, and what does he do...throws him an offspeed pitch right down the plate. Saito seems amazing against just about every team he faces, but he looks like T. Ohka against the Cubs.
  4. Ryan Theriot has the best opposite field swing in the majors so far this year. He makes it look very easy.
  5. Looks like ESPN will be televising the Georgia vs NC St. Super Regional this weekend. First game is on ESPN at 11 tomorrow.
  6. I was told tonight that Boras let teams know that if they weren't willing to give Danks first round money, then they might as well not draft him.
  7. Sweep! Great job this series.
  8. Good thing that didn't happen when Masset came in to pitch last night. I assume Linebrink comes in if Masset can't finish it off?
  9. Jose Guillen needs some PEDS to get his bat speed back. I hate seeing Olivo against a LHP though.
  10. Thornton's getting squeezed by this ump. Kudos to Contreras for getting us into the 8th.
  11. Seeing Jose Guillen playing on the warning track just made me giggle.
  12. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 6, 2008 -> 02:22 AM) I thought he did it towards his dugout cuz he knew it was gone. Wouldn't be surprised either way. If you noticed when he was near home after rounding 3rd, he seemed to make another gesture towards the ump.
  13. Anyone know if we'll face A. Cook when the Rockies are in town?
  14. Due to my knowledge (and everyone else) that the Sox desperately wanted G. Beckham, I did the unthinkable and rooted for UGa to beat GT last weekend because I wanted to see Beckham on tv this weekend.
  15. Anyone just see Dukes hit a bomb for a walk off against the Cards? He was pissed at the umpire, and he did some gesture to the umpire once he hit it.
  16. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 6, 2008 -> 03:03 AM) Laumann said it was Beckham or Alonso for us. I thought he said Beckham or Alonso for the Reds.
  17. We just drafted a very fast bat boy.
  18. Oh good heavens
  19. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 11:52 PM) I was hoping with no 2nd round pick, Sox would combine money and make a statement on a player in the 3rd round for a farm system that is in dire need of young talent. SOS for the White Sox draft never going outside the box! Like who are you thinking of? Melville? No way we'd sign him.
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 6, 2008 -> 12:51 AM) Now I dont watch or follow a ton of College baseball, what is the significance of being a "friday night" pitcher vs a saturday night pitcher I believe Friday night is the ace.
  21. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 6, 2008 -> 12:46 AM) Who are you talking about? Beckham or Morel? Danks
  22. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 6, 2008 -> 12:45 AM) I guess philosophies are different after the first couple rounds, but honestly, why even attempt to draft a specialist of any kind? I rather find pitchers, atleast this early in the draft, who have projectability -- and if later they become a specialist then fine. Maybe it's just because I have zero faith that the Sox can develop players in the minors right now? Hopefully Buddy Bell can change that.
  23. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 11:43 PM) I've seen him in person as well and his swing is fluid and he makes everything look easy. His defense is a major plus (and the arm a freaking "cannon"). Why has he fallen so much then (this isn't meant in a sarcastic asshole way)?
  24. I like the O'Neil pick....sounds like a righty specialist.
  25. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 6, 2008 -> 12:39 AM) Thats bulls***. Watch him play and tell me he's nothing special. People don't love him cause he doesn't excel at any one thing, but he's good at EVERYTHING. The guy is a tremendous value at this point in time (I've probably seen at least 10 Texas games solely to watch him). His counterpart, Kyle Gibson, a lot more power, a lot more overhyped, and a very long/ugly swing. I've watched the same games you've probably watched on Fox sports, and I've never thought he was anything special. If it wasn't for his name, I doubt anyone on here would want a guy with the numbers he's put up. He was also terrible when playing for Team USA.
