  1. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 18, 2007 -> 12:34 AM) You're kidding right ? Erstad has been crucified and continues to be crucified despite obviously being the better choice over Anderson. Every mistake he makes is put under a microscope. Anything to cling to the hate. He's play good all around baseball. Defense ,running, offense, leadership . What more do people want ? . I'm aware of the OBP and OPS. Expecting a high OPS out of Erstad is like expecting Dye to bunt with men on 1st and 2nd with 0 outs. It's just not his game. From my end, it's the total opposite. Every little thing Erstad does well, it gets magnified as if it was the greatest play in history.

    Thome

Thome left the game for a pinch hitter tonight. Anyone have an update on why? If he's injured again, KW needs to go out and acquire a new DH.
  3. I hope Thome is fine. It's not good that he had to leave the game for a pinch hitter. Sad to say I'm expecting the worst.
  4. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 17, 2007 -> 07:10 PM) Since I'm still not able to watch the games, I have to go by gameday. Is Sweeney's luster wearing off already? He doesn't hit enough line drives right now. He's a ground ball machine right now. He's really not ready to contribute at the major league level....it's just that there are no other options.
  5. So thrilled that we continue to put Ozuna into the 2nd spot against righties. At least he doesn't strike out too much....right Ozzie?
  6. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 17, 2007 -> 06:35 PM) Only one things could save this game thread... The return of wrestling analogies during the game thread?
  7. Let's see if the starting pitcher allows a run after we score...again!
  8. I noticed that lineup....what a joke.
  9. No Crede today....good thing we have our best defensive infield going today with a sinker baller on the mound. Also, why can't Ozzie just leave Uribe in the #2 hole? Iguchi's batting 9th today.
  10. I haven't heard anything from my minor league sources. It's just based on comments being made in the press. This article makes there seem like there's no chance Danks gets the start. Can we pray for rain? http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines
  11. I was thinking about if Griffey Jr. could fit with this club also last night while watching him win a game in extras. I'll take him.
  12. Yeah, in no way did I mean to insult anyone who's diabetic when I ripped on Santo.
  13. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 17, 2007 -> 04:27 AM) Nice pathetic effort hitters. You should be embarassed. Walker and KW need to be included as well.
  14. Be prepared to be pissed off about how we handle the starting spot on Sunday.
  15. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 17, 2007 -> 04:26 AM) Uribe with a nice step in the bucket there. His front foot moves towards third base, and then he swings. Dont they fix that s*** in high school. What does Walk do again. It's actually how many righties try to hit Rivera and his cutter. It's shocking that Uribe has had the best approach at the plate consistently this year.
  16. QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ May 17, 2007 -> 04:24 AM) Can you share them with us? He kept complaining about how the pink bats, which were being used to support breast cancer charities, were taking away from the spirit of the game and had no business being used. This coming from someone who can't go longer than 2 minutes before promoting some type of Diabetes thing.
  17. Nice to see Sweeney get a hit to end the day. However, there was a 100 pct chance of him breaking his bat against Rivera.
  18. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 17, 2007 -> 04:21 AM) Easy big fella. If you heard his comments on Sunday, you'd see where the hostility is coming from. QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ May 17, 2007 -> 04:22 AM) That makes 2 pitchers in our bullpen with ERA's at 6 or higher. Only 2 with ERA's lower than 3.5, Aardsma and Jenks. Don't worry, KW said he's upgrade the bullpen in the offseason.
  19. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 17, 2007 -> 04:19 AM) Hawk is the Ron Santo of the sox. Nah, Hawk's not nearly as bad as that legless piece of s***.
  20. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 17, 2007 -> 04:18 AM) Hawk is blaming the umps for Sisco sucking. If its a teacup Hawk, then our hitters are less that s***ty. Farnsy would have walked the world if our guys would have stood at the plate and not swing.
  21. If the Sox think the umpiring is so bad, then have Ozzie go out there and get tossed. If not, then quit the complaining and make another pitch.
  22. Ross Gload has a higher OPS than anyone in this Sox's lineup....can we have him back for Sisco?
  23. I wish there was reason for optimism about this offense for the next few years. When Konerko, Thome, and AJP are the only people you know will be here in two years, that's troubling. QUOTE(greg775 @ May 17, 2007 -> 04:11 AM) I can't believe Crede, Dye and Paulie (nice HR in game one though) can't get it going. If they were having regular years we'd be 10 over .500 with our pitching. AJ too. Personally I'd rather have had a better offseason move than Erstad. The Erstad acquisition was good....as a 4th outfielder who could face tough righties. The Toby Hall acquisition was great....he'll make a solid back-up first baseman when he returns.
  24. QUOTE(greg775 @ May 17, 2007 -> 04:06 AM) We've got some horrid baseball players on this team to go with some slumping struggling proven veterans. Yuk. Yep....it's not all about players struggling. Some of these lineups are inexcusable (and it's not Ozzie's fault). KW did very little to help this team offensively this season.
  25. Someone needs to tell Cooper that Sisco's blessed with a great arm....stop trying to make him into a control pitcher. If he can't let it fly without throwing strikes, then send his ass down to the minors.
