  1. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 12:12 AM) Wow, can this even be considered the Sunday lineup? It's more like the leap-year lineup. I was thinking on the way home, when I heard about this lineup, how funny it was that we used to call Manuel "The Tinkerer".
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 11:56 PM) They're resting him up for winter-ball. You still haven't responded on my worst outfield I was just going by guys who are slotted into a particular outfield position. Pods in CF would be worse of course, but that's not really possible this season. I understand what you were trying to say...and it makes me cringe either way.
  3. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 11:51 PM) With the day game tomorrow, im sure he wanted to give the guys a little rest. Brian Anderson is definitely going to be well-rested this offseason. If you want to play Gload in RF, you better make sure you have a good CF out there.
  4. This is the worst possible defensive outfield we can have, which is quite the accomplishment with our roster.
  5. One more thing....I don't care if he doesn't walk again the rest of the season, but please swing the freaking bat Pods! It's inexcusable to be such an easy out once you get 2 strikes. Someone with his limited tool set should be battling up there. Instead, he takes pitches like he's Barry Bonds.
  6. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 03:44 PM) As a fan who's hoping this team can still do something, do we really have any option other than hoping that will somehow happen? Unless we have a big cushion, just make him a 5 inning pitcher. He's shown no ability to pitch after the 5th inning in a close game for far too long now. We have 2 very capable long relievers in McCarthy and Riske who have done a very good job at keeping us in games. This has become a mental thing with Vazquez.
  7. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 03:27 PM) Our standards for him are so pathetic. 4 runs (3 earned) in 5.1 innings is not OK. Next thing you know we'll be saying how good he is for only giving up a run per inning. It's absolutely amazing how many of his starts are the same. I've never seen someone who implodes at the same exact spot in the game like he does.
  8. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 02:47 PM) The entire crowd went dead silent when Iguchi was sent home. It was actually pretty funny. There was a gigantic roar because of Thome's hit, and it just died instantly when Cora gave the green light. Every last one of the 35,000+ at the stadium last night knew Iguchi was toast long before he was tagged. I didn't think it was possible, but never before has a 2-2 tie against the Royals heading into the 6th inning seemed more like a big deficit than it did last night. Even jphat seemed pessimistic heading into that inning. Plain and simple, no one is more responsible for the loss last night than Joey Cora. Did he not see that Sanders was playing Thome near the warning track to start? Sanders had a very short distance to run in order to retrieve that ball.
  9. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 02:40 PM) Yeah, Dye dropped an easy fly but I can't dump the loss on him. That fan interference thing BTW cost us. Why the f*** do Sox fans knowingly interfere with a play like that when they know runs are at stake? All for a freakin' baseball that you could buy on the concourse. I hope that guy was tossed. The fan interference thing didn't cost us at all. If anything, it might have saved us from Cora making another bad decision. Uribe was barely at 2nd base by the time the ball would have hit the side wall. For Hawk to suggest that Uribe could have easily scored and Anderson would have made 3rd is stretching it. It doesn't matter though, as those two runs scored anyways. And BTW Milkman, you should change your picture from Mr. Perfect to the Brooklyn Brawler, as you've now become a jobber.
  10. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 02:30 PM) Well 3ER is not a horrible outing. KC can score some runs, and have been lately. The offense is the true culprit last night. They were swinging for the fence all game. I guess they didnt realize our winning streak came with only 1 HR It might be the one game this season where the team looked like all they had to do was show up, and the game was over. You could see the offense struggling from the 2nd batter on yesterday, and they kept letting Hernandez get easy outs with their weak swings. I also can't agree more with Milkman. Joey Cora is a disaster at 3rd base. When your team has no speed but good hitters, you have to be smarter than what he's shown this year. Maybe if Ozzie flips out and quits, he'll take Cora, Garcia, and Vazquez with him.
  11. This might sound silly, but tonight is one of the biggest games of our season. A win tonight, and hopefully we get the momentum rolling again. If we lose tonight, then this series has become a disappointment and Thursday is a must-win game.
  12. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 03:28 AM) If JD lays off that pitch out of the zone, we have 1st and 2nd 0 out for A.J. and Crede. Everyone in the park knew a non-fastball was coming in that situation besides JD. It's ok, I'm not worried.
  13. QUOTE(Dan @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 03:20 AM) in no way am i saying this guy had a Cy Young winning outing tonight. i agree that the Sox batters helped him out A LOT tonight, however he did have some nice pitches working from what i saw, a la the JD strikeout late in the game when he used a very nice changeup to finish him off. He did have much better command of his offspeed pitches.
  14. QUOTE(Dan @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 03:08 AM) in case you didnt notice, Runnynose had a killer split finger and slider working tonight. What I noticed is that not one of our players actually stayed back and made Hernandez throw consistent strikes. We were way too easy of outs tonight.
  15. Congrats to Mr. Vazquez on career loss 100. A 100-100 career record....is everything about him predictable?
  16. They need to play strong tomorrow and Thurs., or you don't like the momentum heading into a huge 7 game series. You simply can't lose a match-up like we had tonight.
  17. TERRIBLE loss. Some of the worst swings of the season.
  18. I've never seen a game by the Sox this year where we've taken more strikes, but have swung at balls out of the zone. Ozzie should be livid about this effort.
  19. Keep swinging for the 2 run homer with no one on.
  20. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 02:44 AM) Horses*** effort by our defense, third base coach and our O tonight. And don't forget Mr. 100
  21. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 02:42 AM) Quick: Who is better? Cotts or Boone Logan? Cotts, next question.
  22. Here's the scouting report on Cotts....fastball
