  1. Now I'm worried about Thornton's health. I hate Sisco in this situation where a walk puts the tying run to the plate.
  2. Just got back to see PK as my first batter. I see why he's playing today....and I also love seeing Riske in close games.
  3. This offense makes it seem so difficult to hit the ball hard consistently.
  4. I remember in years past how we used to score a ton of runs early in the game. It doesn't seem that way anymore.
  5. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 12:19 AM) Does Konerko plan on looking like a hitter this year? I have no clue why he's playing today.
  6. What a terrible f***ing day of baseball. Cards failed to get the runner from 3rd in with no outs in the 9th, and then Rolen doesn't guard the line to prevent a double.
  7. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 04:51 PM) Toby Hall can really help if he is able to comeback healthy. Molina calls a good game, but offensively he just isn't ready for the AA yet Fixed for accuracy
  8. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 09:13 PM) On the other hand, the Tigers don't look that good to me. I think we should beat them out this year: we have a better lineup (and hopefully we get our heads out of our asses and start showing it), a better bullpen, and comparable starting pitching. Cleveland scares the crap out of me when we play them, but they don't do as well against the rest of the league as they do against us. I like the Tigers rotation better as soon as they put Ledezma in for Durbin. I really like their 2-5 part of their lineup, as Sheffield is like PK, they won't be this bad all year.
  9. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 09:12 PM) I have a bad feeling that KW will do something idiotically drastic at mid-season to get Rowand back. Like trading Anderson and Day for him. Considering Anderson has no future with us, and Day is as old as Contreras is, then that wouldn't be a horrible trade. We've made one great trade with Philly, and one horrible. Time for one in the middle.
  10. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 09:07 PM) Would this be a bad time to mention the season Rowand is having thus far? Don't worry, he'll be back here as soon as he's a FA.
  11. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 09:05 PM) So you want another lefty on the bench? Since Ozzie is going to play Erstad no matter who's on the mound, then why not.
  12. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 09:03 PM) What will happen at some point pretty soon is that I anticipate the Sox going on a 3-4 game HR explosion where they put up a bunch of runs, then Walker's job is safe, then we'll go back to the same all or nothing approach and the cycle will start over again. Which means the usual August/September tank.
  13. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 08:58 PM) I don't disagree. But the fact is the Sox put all their marbles in yesterday. Tough loss today, but if the Sox had all their tools available, they'd probably have walked out with a W. I'd rather put my marbles in sooner rather than later if the next day has Verlander on the hill. Absolutely....play for today, worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. It's too bad Aardsma overthrew that fastball. Time to start hitting more consistently. I wish we still had Gload on the roster to back-up PK.
  14. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 08:50 PM) Oh, and I never even thought of Thornton (thanks to fathom bringing that up). He has been the least used reliever (outside of Logan, of course). Why not let him close it? And anyone else really wondering what the F AJ was thinking by calling for 3 straight fastballs to a good fastball hitter in Thames? He was sitting dead red fastball, and while it was bad location, a fastball should not have been thrown there. In fact, I didn't like that whole sequence to Thames. First pitch should have been a slider, to get Thames thinking, and make slow his bat down. After the first swing by Thames, he should have not seen another fastball.
  15. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 08:50 PM) Is this one of those magical "other 40" games that Hawk always talks about? You know, win 60, lose 60... Just thinking about Paul Konerko right now makes me sick. Classy
  16. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 08:47 PM) Only listened to the game, but I would like to know why we were relying on our two last options out of the pen to win us this ballgame? At this point, I'm concerned there might be something wrong with Thornton.
  17. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 08:43 PM) Also, a couple comments on Ozzie useage of the pitching. 1. Why take out Garland in the first place? Besides the 1st inning, no one even came close to hitting Garland. Why not let him finish it? He only had thrown 102-3 pitches, which is pretty good. 2. Why not actually put your closer in? I have nothing against Aardsma, and that was horrid pitch calling by Pierzynski, but in a game close like that, shouldn't you put your closer in? 3. Why take out Masset and put in Logan? This one, I really don't understand. Granderson, besides for his leadoff double, had done nothing the whole game, and everyone knew Leyland would pinch hit Monroe if Logan came in. Plus, the rest of the hitters after Granderson are righty. So, this would be Ozzie's 2nd blown game, correct? No
  18. Anderson's was huge in a few games his first two years. Right now, he's just a waste of what could be a valuable roster spot. We simply don't hit lefty pitching, and it's no shock that Ledezma shut us down.
  19. Wasn't Ozzie's fault, but where in the hell was Thornton? I'm so sick of Logan and Anderson....please let me know the next time they contribute in a big way to a Sox win.
  20. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 08:37 PM) Neither does trading Freddy Garcia for a busted project and a AA project. But Garcia's injured and will never pitch in the majors again. It was a different trade, but Hirsh looks fantastic for the Rockies so far.
  21. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 08:37 PM) F@#k! PK and Ozuna combine for a billion outs. Where the hell was Gooch? Should not have came down to the Logan in the 12th. Send BA down, get someone that can hit. Didn't you know that Iguchi sucks vs RHP, so that's why he was benched?
  22. The funniest thing is how some people would get mad if we traded Logan for Rowand. Oh well....I'm happy we won 2 games. Either team could have swept this series.
  23. You suck Logan.....bullpen and PK get the blame for this one.
