  1. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 02:23 PM) If K State brings in a legitmate coach and keeps this class there could be a great benefit to them. Depends on who they bring in, kind of like the guy that was fired from Virginia (Forget his name). Pete Gillen is a terrible, terrible coach. I'm sure jphat would agree with me on that. I don't know how they could keep all their recruits. Maybe someone like Theus, but everyone knows he'll go to UNLV when Lon goes elsewhere.
  2. My biggest issue w/Hawk right now is his "stretch" call. He should be able to judge the trajectory of the ball better than those watching television, but his constant overreacting to any deep fly ball does get annoying.
  3. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 03:14 AM) I can't imagine watching White Sox baseball without Hawk. I love it that he cares as much as I do. The perfect example came today when Thornton hit the ball in the gap. He said nobodies gonna get that, and then let out a genuine "dag nabbit." He was just as pissed as I was that Thornton screwed the pooch. It's not fake, and that's why I love his announcing so much. I know enough about the game. I don't need an announcer to sit there and be objective and tell me what I'm seeing. Jack McDowell will be replacing Hawk this coming week. I can't say I'll complain about that.
  4. Ed Farmer makes Hawk Harrelson seem like the greatest announcer ever.
  5. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 09:16 PM) this is reminiscent of one of my favorite 2005 games, which was also weekday at 1:05 and where our offense was worse than this. We were playing KC and it was 0-0 in the 9th (Greinke had shut us down) and the reliever managed to walk in two runs: Sox win. That's when I thought: we have something going on if we're winning games like these. Let's hope this is the END OF THE FUNK, since 2nd half last season! I'll TAKE IT! That reliever deserved a WS ring that year from the Sox. Let's hope he gets another this year.
  6. Nice to get on the board. Still need to find a way to get Ozuna into the lineup vs LHP.
  7. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 08:43 PM) Wow, so much for having them where we want them. Methinks that if Ozzie wants to break up our lefties JD should be in the 3 hole and keep Paulie batting 4th. Lets hope Crede can clutch it out Great idea with the lineup.
  8. QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 08:39 PM) hawk has been pretty off with his stretch calls this decade
  9. QUOTE(joeynach @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 08:35 PM) Yes sir I remember cuz we threw a fit on the board cuz we knew the numbers and knew Michaels dominated LHP and Ozzie said he didn't know that until after we lost the game and it was brought to his attention. That game 3 last year reminded me of yesterday's game a lot. The last two years, the 3rd game of the season vs Indians were both heartbreaking defeats.
  10. QUOTE(joeynach @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 08:32 PM) Michaels against any LHP = bad matchup, period! Just like in game 3 last year (good memory Nach), Jenks should have been in to face Michaels (or Nixon).
  11. For the last few years, we've had a reliever who was very good one year, and sucked beyond belief the next year. Let's hope Thornton isn't that player this year.
  12. Pods should be able to steal 2nd on this combination.
  13. Great job by Masset. Gotta find a way to win this. Our offense resembles last year's 2nd half, which is a terrible thing. We have to find a way to get Ozuna in this lineup.
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 07:41 PM) At least Erstad swings the bat, Pods is worried about showing a smile to the vast members of his 13-15 femalle posenik club. There are the HEFTY girls you see at the park with Tee shirts, and self painted on Mrs Posednik on the back. Fixed for you
  15. It's going to be a long season if we can't hit LHP.
  16. Losing Toby Hall is going to hurt us a ton.
  17. QUOTE(Reddy @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 07:14 PM) i've always wondered about this... why not just bring in a starter and change his next start date? if they're really that inflexible then its kinda sad isnt it? Routines, throwing in between starts, game preparation.
  18. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 07:12 PM) Pods has our only f***ing hit and a walk We need a win
  19. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 07:08 PM) I was just talking about this with a friend. I never listened to the Sox via the radio prior to this year, but really, I think Farmer is pretty bad. Singleton is much better imo. I can't stress how bad Farmer has been on the Crede play from yesterday and these deep fly balls today.
