  1. QUOTE(chisox72 @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 12:50 AM) Inevitable. We are going to hear all night about how he is little known, but his stuff is ELECTRIC. We'll also hear about how is record does not indicate how good he is and how successful he will be... Its pathetic that we all know the routine... If Dye and Thome are out for a week or so, we're going to be in a lot of trouble.
  2. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 12:49 AM) Someone on SSS said he's already given up three homers tonight. His WHIP has been pretty awful at last check this year.
  3. Here comes the Cy Durbin talk.
  4. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 12:47 AM) Not really. Five guys in the lineup are batting less than .220. This might be the worst lineup, in regards to talent, we've had on the field in a long time.
  5. 2 long fly outs....we'll see more I'm sure.
  6. The Tigers 2-3-4-5 in their order is going to be nasty when the weather gets nicer.
  7. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 12:42 AM) No doubt in my mind, KW is gonna trade for a starter assuming we are still in the race. None of our pitchers our major league ready yet, Danks needed more AAA time, Gio is a year away at least, same with Russell. Broadway wont ever make a start for the Sox. Freddy Garcia won't pitch another game in the majors though, so it's fine we didn't get anyone that can contribute in 2007.
  8. Don Cooper has got to change up our starter's preparation, as this first inning stuff is very troubling.
  9. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 12:40 AM) Where is Danks' fastball that was supposed to be topping out at 94? If you throw a straight fastball and it doesn't get above 90 MPH, you are gonna get rocked. Example, John Danks. He's gotta get his changeup and breaking ball over the plate for strikes. BTW, the pitch was a cookie and Thames just whiffed. Danks 94 mph must be at the same place as Masset's 97 mph fastball. Danks is going to have to have good control in order to last in the majors this year, and he doesn't seem to have that right now.
  10. I'll be stunned if Danks lasts the entire year with an ERA under 5.75 at home. His command has a long way to go still, which is no shock due to his youth.
  11. Please let it rain again. Great call by AJ of calling for a fastball down the plate with an open base on 3-0.
  12. It's going to be interesting how teams react against Danks the second time they face him during the year.
  13. For the 5th time in about a week, it's time for Masset to get himself ready. Crede's got to play right on the line when Sheffield is batting.
  14. Stay sharp pitchers....this is embarrassing.
  15. What new....how many runs will the Tigers get this inning?
  16. Regardless of whether or not Anderson is better than Erstad in CF, I think we can all agree that Anderson is better in LF than Ozuna.
  17. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 09:15 PM) Although most scoffed at the additions of Marquis and Lilly you must admit they are pitching very well in the early going of this season. Just wait until the wind is blowing out.
  18. QUOTE(joeynach @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 09:39 PM) Well this is exactly what Kenny was talking about when in the offseason he was talking about our team getting old, slow, and stale if we dont do anything. And you know what hes right. This team is showing its age. We have a bunch of 30+ year old sluggers, granted they can still hit the crap out of the ball, but they are beginning to show their age. You could notice this last year with the 4 or 5 game stints that would land Thome and Dye out of the lineup; hamstring, hip flexor, calf, etc. We cant allow ourselves to become the Giants of the AL with a ton of aging players. To be honest all these "nagging" injuries that you are going to see with Dye and Thome this year are really starting to and are going to get very frustrating. It happened last year and it will happen again this year. These older guys will get hurt, not enough to go on the DL, but enough to weaken our lineup and bench for a good week or so a few times during the year. Its kinda of a shame to have to go through. I think this might be the reason KW will let and Dye and Thome walk at the end of the contracts they are old and beginning to show the signs of age. Then why in the world did he bring back Pods also, who has the durability of an 80 year old?
  19. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 08:54 PM) But I thought the way to beat a lefty pitcher was to take them to LF? There's going to be quite a few fly balls hit to LF tonight with all of the pull hitters the Tigers have.
  20. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 08:42 PM) Yes, but my guess is that Ozzie's thinking Ozuna adds a lot more offensively than BA, so if you're going to sub late, better to have Ozuna still in instead of Anderson. Lets just hope Ozuna doesn't manage to give up any runs out there before that time. We have a lefty on the mound facing a lot of righties. LF won't be very important anyways.
  21. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 08:07 PM) And its not like they are freak injuries. I don't feel bad at all for the Sox getting burned by Podsednik. It was clear he wasn't healthy last season, yet we brought him back, and sure enough, but April 20th, the Sox were already dealing with injury timetables. The June timetable for Pods is quite a long time considering it's a muscle strain. The problem is, he'll come back and be tentative likely. We need to find a starting LF sooner rather than later.
  22. Thome's injury concerns me more. If this becomes an oblique injury, he could be effected for the rest of the year with the way he swings.
  23. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 07:51 PM) I don't agree with the way Williams constructed this OF, and I expect more from this club. After the OF adventures we had last season(you were one of the Macks biggest critics), it should have been significantly upgraded. It wasn't. And these injuries are making our outfield go from bad to pathetic.
  24. I wonder if Dye hurt himself when he fouled that pitch off his leg in the Detroit series.
  25. Kinda worried about Dye's health also now. That is a horrific lineup, so I'm really hoping for a rainout tonight. QUOTE(Damen @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 07:26 PM) Wow. So here's an obvious question...why not put Anderson in the field? If we're stuck into having Ozuna, Anderson, Erstad, and Mack all starting, why don't we DH Ozuna, since he's by far the biggest liability in the OF. Anderson in Center, Erstad in Left, Mack in Right? What's the problem with that? It makes too much sense? It should be Anderson in LF, Erstad in CF if you go by what Ozzie says.
