December 12, 200718 yr 5 year deal, mlb.com is reporting. I've never been happier to not acquire a player. Time to get creative KW. Interesting timing as well. Edited December 12, 200718 yr by fathom
December 12, 200718 yr Oh god....Coco Crisp....WEEEEEEEE. Not that I don't have a problem with Coco, its just I had higher expectations. I can't imagine what Dye is going to call KW and say now.
December 12, 200718 yr Author QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 08:49 PM) Oh god....Coco Crisp....WEEEEEEEE Red Sox won't move him until the Santana stuff is cleared up. I'd be more concerned about Juan Pierre being on his way to the Sox. Maybe Rowand signing will allow KW to look for more creative solutions.
December 12, 200718 yr Author QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 08:52 PM) God we suck. Is there anyone else left out there that we can miss on? It's a blessing, it really is. I'm as negative as it gets, and this is a positive for the Sox.

December 12, 200718 yr http://www.rotoworld.com/content/headlines.aspx?sport=MLB Giants agreed to terms with outfielder Aaron Rowand, who had been witht he Phillies, on a five-year contract. The Giants were lucky last year when they missed out on Gary Matthews Jr. and Juan Pierre despite competitive offers. Still, no one really expected Brian Sabean to learn his lesson. Rowand gets a five-year deal at what's surely more than $10 million per season (probably at least $12 million) despite having just two particularly good seasons under his belt. He's a fine player even when he's posting 750 OPSs, but he's probably not going to age well because of the way he throws his body around and he's not the big-time middle-of-the-order threat the Giants needed. The team was already paying Randy Winn and Dave Roberts as if they were center fielders. Dec. 12 - 3:48 pm et
December 12, 200718 yr QUOTE(AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 03:52 PM) God we suck. Is there anyone else left out there that we can miss on? How bout we wait to see the numbers before more complaining? Meanwhile, I'm suprised the Sox didn't up their bid. Not that Rowand is what this team needs.
December 12, 200718 yr Another year of Jerry Owens/ Brian Anderson/ whoever else they can find in the minors who can't get the job done.....I hope like hell KW proves me wrong though. Not that I wanted ARow back though. Edited December 12, 200718 yr by EvilJester99
December 12, 200718 yr This is Brian Anderson and Ryan Sweeney's big chance. It could also very well mean that we see Ryan Fields in LF in spring training and Joe Crede back with the Sox in 2008. EDIT: Wow, try Josh Fields

Not that Rowand is what this team needs. You know what's sad? As bad as things have gone the past few weeks, Williams is having a better off-season this year than last year. He's at least upgraded shortstop. Last year, he needed a new LF, CF and SS. But he DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING BUT CRY AND WHINE AND ACQUIRE ANDREW SISCO. He's paying for it now. Oh, so are we.

Anyway, thank you Brian Sabean!!!!

December 12, 200718 yr Actually that just saved us from a Kenny overpay. 5 years for Rowand for that money is not a good investment. Now this will break the hearts of the "Lets get the band back together" club.
