  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 08:44 PM) Remember when I said I'd rather have Dye up in a clutch situation than Crede? That's why. I like Crede, but I can't recall a single clutch hit he had after May last year. Dye was the s*** though in clutch situations.
  2. If we lose today, will Ozzie again state he should be fired if we stink this year? We desperately need something to go right to get the momentum started going in the right direction. It seems like there's a lot of negative vibes surrounding the organization right now.
  3. Hey Ozzie....this is why it's pointless to have three lefties in a row, regardless of who starts.
  4. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 08:35 PM) He acquired no one with a track record. Just a bunch of guys who supposedly throw 95-98. They hadn't been all that successful at that velocity and don't seem to be near it now. Exactly...I honestly have no clue what he was thinking this offseason.
  5. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 08:30 PM) So much for the Sox revamped bullpen. Credit KW for his amazing offseason. The Thornton thing doesn't bother me....it's the middle relief I have an issue with.
  6. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 08:24 PM) If Ozzie has any sense, if we have a lead in the ninth, BA will be in center with Ersty in left. Anderson would go into LF in that situation.
  7. QUOTE(Balance @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 08:15 PM) I don't see why Ozzie leaves Pods in to face the lefty here. It must suck to be an Astros fan.
  8. Horrific, horrific announcing by Chris Singleton on that K.
  9. Was it as close as the radio announcers are making it sound? This bullpen is a disaster.
  10. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 08:00 PM) ok, where is Boone Logan? Didn't you hear? He has control problems.
  11. I thought KW was going to improve the bullpen this offseason?
  12. This is the difference between pitching in a 8 run game and a 2 run game.
  13. Sisco should have never been brought in with this umpire behind the plate. The last 4 innings should have been our big 3. Oh well, not much you can do with this horrid middle relief we have.
  14. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 07:44 PM) That's what it looked like. Very little acceleration. Pods seems to have lost a lot of physical attributes from a few years ago. Mainly, any power he had, and a lot of his speed. Put him with the thousands of other players who have seen suspicious dropoffs since steroid testing went into play.
  15. QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 07:26 PM) Iguchi homers to tie it! As good as that is, i have a feeling hes gonna hit about 10-12 more HRs this year and hit about 20 points lower, hopefully the latter isnt the case. I'll gladly take the tradeoff.
  16. Looking forward to a big year from Iguchi. He was always so much better when he didn't have to protect the runner.
  17. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 07:21 PM) Ugh. and Crede finally hits one good and it's right at em. Cleveland bangs em where they aint First one of the year.....I miss these!
  18. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 07:21 PM) Is it out of the realm of possibility to think about the Sox making a pitching acquisition at some point this season? Or are we in the same "we've got to win with what we've got" mode that we were stubbornly in last year. Not that I know of anyone that would be available, but we're going to have to upgrade here if this team wants to contend this season and beyond. Nah, we'll give Floyd and Haeger a chance first.
  19. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 07:16 PM) I wonder how many runs Cleveland is gonna score this year? I wonder if they can make it to 1000 They made some great acquisitions for their offense this offseason w/o having to spend a lot of money. Nixon was someone I was hoping we'd look at to play LF.
  20. This Indians offense is going to destroy our crappy starters this year.
  21. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 07:11 PM) Fun stat: Podsednik struck out 96 times last year, 49 of those K's were looking. That's over 50% of the time. It's incredibly hard to find players who even top 30%. Aren't "speed/slap" hitters supposed to be good contact hitters who make sure they put the ball in play?
  22. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 07:10 PM) another high changeup I wish we'd just tell Garland to never throw a changeup again. It seems like he keeps it up at least 50 pct of the time.
  23. I wonder if we're going to lead the world in called third strikes again this year? At least Pods truly is the catalyst.
