  1. If the Sox are going to be crappy this year, I hope they're out of the race by July 28th. I'm not so sure I'm going to be able to watch their home night game on that Saturday.
  2. This was something I was thinking about this morning: Is KW really satisifed with our team right now? I don't think this current roster is what he imagined having after last season ended. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 30, 2007 -> 12:37 AM) Guys, watch the Bulls -- over the next five months, you're going to see enough weak left-handed pitching mow through our lineup. Enjoy life while you can... At least there's not a lot of lefties in our division. BTW, any update on Dominic James going pro?
  3. I wonder if Hawk can seriously argue that we're the most talented team in baseball anymore? Some Independent League teams have a better 1-2 than the Sox.
  4. QUOTE(wcw2323 @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 09:30 PM) Good for Haeger today...I think he threw 2 or 3 scoreless innings against the Rockies on Sunday. Do you think they may be showcasing him? Absolutely
  5. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 05:12 PM) Well, maybe we should just bring back Miles and Harris and pair them up. You would have thought JC had been re-crucified when that trade for Uribe went down, with the loyalty some of the minor league fans had to Aaron. That deal seemed to work out okay for the Sox. Long-term, I think they REALLY like Shelby at 2B, possibly Getz, although he profiles more as a utility guy if he ever makes it to the majors (similar to Angel Gonzalez and Pedro Lopez). There were people upset with the Uribe/Miles trade? If so....then that's just too many people putting too much stock in minor league numbers.
  6. I can only imagine a team with Eckstein and Erstad as the 1-2 hitters. Grinders!
  7. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 06:34 AM) Hey, everybody knows how I feel about how Brian Anderon has been handled. Only Heads is a bigger BA jocker than me (I've had the same avatar and sig for like a year now. Could be time to change). But I don't think Ozzie went from World Series winning manager to incompetent in a matter of, what, a year? I think we should all just take a deep breath and be happy as f*** that the greatest team sport ever invented is set to begin in a few days. Honestly, I think 2005 made two very egotistical people (Ozzie and KW) even more arrogant than usual. However, if arrogance is the result of winning a world championship, then it was worth it. The more time passes, the more I appreciate that we capitalized on our golden opportunity to win it all. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 06:38 AM) If anyone wants that distinction they'll have to take it from my cold, lifeless....internet....fingers. Or something. /profile Fantastic stuff Flash
  8. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 06:27 AM) Well, I was speaking about the entire offseason. Going all the way back to the Freddy Garcia trade. Ever since then, it's just been one big bag of "Ozzie sucks. Kenny is unfit. We got ripped off in the B-Mac trade. We got ripped off in the Freddy trade. We're destined for 4th place. This guy sucks. That guy sucks. Ozzie is to blame because Toby got hurt" ect, ect, ect. Like I said, I have no problem with anybody expressing their opinions and thoughts, positive or negative. There's just a certain way to go about it. But that's just me. I just can't wait for Monday to get here. I think a major motif with the criticism is that people feel like Ozzie is letting his personal feelings about players impact his personnel decisions. Between that and the whiny comments KW made about not extending his pitchers when their contracts are up, the vibe hasn't been great. I couldn't agree more with you though.....let's get to the games.
  9. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 06:23 AM) Well, I think everyone can agree that you are the most/best pessimist on this board. I think some people are trying to take over that title (which I can't stand).
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 06:18 AM) It's turning me into Billy Packer. Yesterday I pulled a handful of hair out of my shower drain, I've gained 35 pounds over the past 2 days and I killed a drifter this morning just to watch him die. Before you killed him, I hope you asked him if he could be a catcher (that sounds bad, I know) and/or a grinder (again, sounds bad).
  11. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 06:15 AM) Poppy is dead to me. Hideaway has no credibility. I think we could go 162-0 and he would post the same garbage. SSIrish does go overboard with the "I wish our hitters would stop lifting and pulling" bit. I wasn't trying to single out Kalapse. We've had A LOT of people just crying and moaning or whatever. Look I know this is a message board. Voice your opinion. No problem. But why the doom and gloom every single day? Before a season has even started? You don't think I'm worried? s***, if all goes wrong, I think will finish 4th. But I can do that without making it look like the end of the world is near. It would be nice if more than a day went by when something overly negative didn't happen during this Spring Training.
  12. Aboz....another day, another slap in the face to a certain group of our AAA players from last year.
  13. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 05:58 AM) For anyone to question Boone Logan right now is to question the truth God he is gonna be such a good reliever in 2 year's time. Very likely....for a team not named the White Sox.
  14. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 05:07 AM) I don't WANT the Sox to pay top dollar for a guy who resembles Mark Mulder more every day. Dye will probably get too many years for a man his age (although I would like to see him return). And I'm not at all convinced Iguchi is about to leave. Why should this team pull together? Because, like everyone else, they like to win. And, because it'll help them get that big f'n payday. It's not gonna be a question of motivation, it's gonna be about talent. If it's about talent, then we're going to be in a battle with the Twins for 3rd place.
  15. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 05:07 AM) But Chris Young hasn't proven s***! And he's a prospect, and prospects suck! On a separate but semi-related note, anybody see how Andruw Jones lately? He looks like he's dropped several pounds and looks to be in much better shape. Somebody wants to get paaaaaiiid... I'll take him.....and I believe you were being sarcastic about C. Young?
  16. QUOTE(TheOcho @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 05:04 AM) At what cost? You know very well we have no minor leaguers who are anywhere ready. Sure we can probally trade for a decent one if Gooch is gone, but at what cost? I'm just a little frustrated right now. There will be other 2nd baseman that are free agents are available. I love the Indians acquisition of Barfield, as he's going to thrive not having to hit 81 games in San Diego. Anyways, if Iguchi at 3 years, 15 million is too much money for the Sox to spend, then it's not even going to matter in the long run. We'll just bring in every golfing buddy that Ozzie has and every grinder that no one else wants. Juan Pierre really should have signed here....he would have had more job security than Brittany Spears' psychiatrist.
  17. QUOTE(TheOcho @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 05:02 AM) You know it can honestly have an effect on free agents in the upcoming offseason. I know I'm stretching so far into the future, but what player wants to sign with a team who's manager won't let the player who produced the best play? Considering free agents are going to be veterans ball players, they have nothing to worry about.
  18. I still point back to the potential downfall of this era for the Sox as the second we traded Chris Young for Vazquez.
  19. QUOTE(TheOcho @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 04:57 AM) I swear to god, if Iguchi is not on this team next year... I... I'm just going to... have to hurt someone. In all honesty, he's the FA we can most afford to lose. 2nd base might be the one position where there's enough depth throughout baseball to still get quality players at affordable prices.
  20. Quite ironic that some of us have been fighting all Spring Training for Logan and Anderson to make it, as I'm sure others are like me in not exactly thinking these guys are world beaters. For me personally, it's all about the message the organization is sending, as well as the incompetence of our manager to evaluate personnel.
  21. IF this team isn't going to make the playoffs, I wish for the following three things to happen: - be far enough out of the race by the deadline to trade Buehrle - Ozzie continues his idiotic act and says something that gets him fired - Danks proves he can be a MLB starting pitcher
  22. QUOTE(spiderman @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 04:35 AM) Yep, we're back to having the revolving door at the #5 spot - yet Kenny says the White Sox didn't take a step back. I hope he is right. As it relates to the 2007 season, this offseason was an absolute disaster. From day one, I stated that this offseason wasn't the year to start worrying about the future. Rather, the offseason coming up would have been the ideal time to start loading up on prospects.
  23. QUOTE(TheOcho @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 04:26 AM) Wowww... When they ask Ozzie why Logan didn't make the team he's going to say it's because of the game he walked two batters, Wow... I noted this during the game thread. Ozzie was b****ing about Logan's control, yet was praising Danks for throwing strikes after he was wild last game.
  24. I really don't know why we even had Spring Training this year. It seems like the only things that were accomplished were figuring out we have no one ready to be our 5th starter....and Toby Hall isn't a first baseman.
