QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 02:33 AM) I never even thought about Uggy Urbina. That would be embarassing. There were people on this site earlier this year saying that his attempted murder charge wasn't too big of a deal, and that he's a good guy.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 02:32 AM) I got 5 bucks on the runner scoring from third via wild pitch. Seriously, why was Thornton taken out? Is he injured? Thornton needs to decide if he'll be a power hitter or a speed player.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 02:31 AM) How many balls bounced in front of Rowand when he broke back on the swing. Bobby Jenks had a few blown saves againt Cleveland that come to mind. We never have the JOE CREDE moment if Rowand doesn't misjudge a line drive to center field that allowed the Indians to tie the game.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 02:30 AM) It is not tough to get a base hit here or there with RISP. The Sox can't do it for some reason though. The bunts and hit-and-runs have been pretty to watch.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 02:29 AM) That is solid baseball from the Tigers. Their execution and managing is amazing tonight. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 02:29 AM) I really dont know how to respond to this. I use stats, and measurable evidence to support my point. And you smile and giggle at your autographed Rowand poster and dream of last year and the 3 stooges. The stats also don't show the late game defensive struggles that Rowand had last year.

I'm 100 pct convinced that our manager should be fired for how this team has laid down since the ASB....too bad it will never happen.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 02:27 AM) He's actually been trying to go the other way with the ball, and getting hits. Maybe Dergan decided not to sleep with him for a couple of days... He's 6 for his last 23 now...not exactly looking like Ichiro these days.

I think we face a lefty tomorrow...Josh Fields better be in the freaking lineup. I have no desire to see Thome go 0-2 with a walk.

What did Hawk say about the move? QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 02:24 AM) Anyone notice how Podsednik and Garcia have just decided to show up to play in the final week or two of the season? Podsednik doing good once the season is out of reach is a nightmare for us....but I'm still confident he's gone in a week and a half.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 02:22 AM) Whomever has come up with the approach to attack the hitters this year is border line dumb. I have never seen so many times that our pitchers get to 0-2 on a hitter, and then either put a changeup over the plate to be crushed, or they nibble and get the count back in the hitters favor. Too many times, guys have been burned on their 3rd pitch. Contreras' slider and Garland's changeup are mediocre pitches, yet they keep throwing them far too much. One of the reasons that Garland gives up so many homers, as a sinker ball pitcher, is that he doesn't trust his sinker enough.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 02:21 AM) It's been an incredibly annoying season and it's going to be an even more annoying offseason with all the excuses that will be tossed around. I'm also done debating the future of Freddy Garcia with people. This whole f***ing team sickens me. I'm sure Buehrle will have a good start in his last game, and then we'll hear about how the starting pitching was just hitting their stride. At least we're bringing in MacDougal now...might as well blow out his shoulder now.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 02:19 AM) It happens when you try and throw a perfect game because you have an offense that forgot how to hit... these grinder rules are starting too piss me off. Did Greg Walker make them? Because all of them are about lifting, pulling, and hitting the home run. It also happens when you throw too many changeups up and over the plate.

Congrats to Ordonez for continuing to shove it up the ass of Ozzie.
-
Game Thread - September 20, 2006
At least we can say that we're 150 games or so into the season, and Ozzie still has no freaking clue how to handle his starting pitchers.

Game Thread - September 20, 2006
What in the living hell is Ozzie doing? Garland's been out there long enough....be grateful he only allowed 4 runs, and get his ass out of the game. Dear Jon Garland....your changeup sucks. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 02:16 AM) Not saying I saw it coming, but every year Crede has been up with the Sox, he has cut out 1 bad month. Last year, he had two really bad months, and it killed his season. In the prediction thread, I said Joe would cut out one of those bad months, like he had every season since. This looks to be his "bad" month. Yeah, I have a hard time being too critical of him, as he's been our 2nd best player all year. It's just disappointing that he's been a mammoth rally killer during this last month.

QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 02:14 AM) this is so true about his performance late last year. JC picked up the entire team last year or we never wouldve made the playoffs. mark my words that we wont win again until we find another Arow type of guy! Why is it that usually the worst players on a team are known as gamers? Who else do you consider to be a "Winner"? Trust me when I say that no one in baseball, up until about 2 months ago, even thought of Frank Thomas as being this type of player.

Does Joe Crede know that baseball in 2006 is played in September? There's a 50 pct chance that if Sweeney hits the ball here, he'll shatter his bat.

QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 02:07 AM) you didnt feel anything special about Arow when he first came to the sox? man i remember telling my wife the first time i saw him play "this is the kinda guy that will win a WS for the sox". dont you remember he didnt get to play right away under Jerry Manure? i was dying to see that guy play everday and see what he would contribute. he presented self confidence, hard work, & desire. when he didnt play well he wore it on his face & chest. i like a guy on the team that can lead thru difficult times. i could just tell that he wasnt going to be the kinda guy who wasnt going to settle for losing. look he certainly wasnt the team last year but IMO he represented what defines champions from winners... I thought he was going to be a great player....but shockingly, he couldn't contribute as well in 2005 as he could in 2004. I think people forget that he was clearly our worst player down the stretch and in the postseason.

QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 01:35 AM) there are 2 things that i will remember even after i am dead: 1. why did we let wilbur marshall go? 2. why didnt we stay with the WS ballclub at least until around the Allstar break and then gauge improvements? #2 is a worthless argument, as we were in a great position at the ASB. 6 games up on the Wild Card is as good as you can ask for, especially since the Tigers were playing such amazing baseball.

QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 01:33 AM) Get Jon out of there Ozzie. Of course Ozzie has to wait until the pitcher reaches 100 pitches, no matter how well he is doing. Yep, and he wonders why our pitchers are fatigued and don't have the same velocity as they used to.

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 01:27 AM) I love Thome but he has not come up in a big situation since opening night it seems. More like since the homer against Santana in the game that we won.
