  1. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 02:39 AM) It is official! Nothing will stop Ozzie from using lefty-lefty. NOT EVEN A POTENTIAL GAME ENDING RAIN DELAY! I'm serious, maybe they think the rain won't last the entire night.
  2. Maybe Ozzie was worried that the wind would blow McCarthy off of the mound.
  3. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 02:35 AM) Well, we're supposed to be one of the best teams in baseball. If we want to go to the postseason, then we'll have to beat up on the bad teams. This will be, what, our 5th loss to KC this year? We're trying to keep up with the likes of the Yankees and Red Sox. This spiffty play against bad teams (especially when we lose to the good teams) won't work. The next two weeks are put-up or shut-up time. I think we'll know a lot more about our 2006 future after these games. A pitching change now? Are you freaking kidding me Ozzie?
  4. QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 02:34 AM) Ozzie blew this game, I'm sick and tired of watching him leave our guys in there. I've said it before and I'll say it again, as a manager you're supposed to know what your players are capable of doing and are not capable of doing. Last year, yeah he could have left Freddy in there, this year it is foolish to even consider it. Here we are August 2nd, and he has yet to figure it out. Unreal. Wake up Ozzie, or we won't be playing in the post-season. He didn't have a very good 7th inning, but he didn't blow this game. Our offense didn't do much today, and Pods defense cost us. Teahen is on fire right now, and we kept putting pitches over the plate for him to HAMMER.
  5. Poor Gathright...goes to show you that Mother Nature can slow down anyone.
  6. QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 02:32 AM) Let me analyze this statement. Ya think??? It's just frustrating because against a team like KC, if you can keep it to a one or two run game late, you have an excellent chance at coming back and tying/winning. That inning reminded me of the Vazquez terrible 7th inning at Tampa earlier in the year.
  7. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 02:30 AM) And that should be game. The ball that bounces in, is not the one you swing at Joe. Nice job by the O and D and Ozzie tonight. Another game dropped to a crappy Royals team. And the Red Sox and Yankees keep winning. Why can't they play each other 15 times the rest of the year?
  8. Those 2 runs we gave up in the 7th really hurt us.
  9. Boston wins with a 2 out, 2 rbi double. super!
  10. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 02:26 AM) Even if he hits a homer though, the game will still be over, unless we get 3 quick outs right? It will revert to the last full inning played? If so, the Royals will damn well make sure their gloves are tight, after every pitch. Are you sure it reverts? I don't think that's necessarily accurate.
  11. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 02:26 AM) great game over Huh? KC is definitely stalling right now.
  12. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 02:21 AM) How many other managers in baseball do you think would have replaced Pods with Mackowiak by now? I guarantee one....Jim Leyland. It took a lot of guts for them to send Shelton down like they did, but they knew his defense was hurting them.
  13. Great AB by Dye. Here's our chance to tie it. Even a single would work, as I trust Crede to have a good AB.
  14. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 02:19 AM) I'm really angry that Javy gets chance after chance after chance. I'm really angry that Freddy gets chance after chance after chance. I'm really angry that Politte got chance after chance after chance. Notice a pattern? I do. Yep....I didn't know Politte was Hispanic?
  15. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 02:18 AM) I'm really angry that Pods gets chance after chance after chance. And you know all we'll hear about after the game is Uribe dropping the foul ball. In reality, Pods dropping that liner was 10 times more important in this game.
  16. Not going to win many games when your 1-2 hitters look like little leaguers, and you're missing two of the biggest sluggers in baseball.
  17. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 02:16 AM) That's a damn good question. Seeing that Shealy was 2-2 with a walk, I guess he was "due" for an out." BRING IN SISCO!!!! Sisco = Sox rally starter. Too bad he's in the minors right now.
  18. QUOTE(Allsox @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 02:14 AM) Sox had some momentum going there but Cintron just killed it with that double play. This was a game that required some '05 grinder play but either Ozzie forgot how that went or forgot his own edict about bunting better. Now Uribe homers, that extra run would have helped. 2005 grinder play worked with 2005 Sox starting pitching.
  19. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 02:13 AM) Ozzie would've let Hudson give up two more singles before going to the pen. He wouldn't have known what to do...a starting pitcher in the 8th inning?
  20. Lets make them a little nervous. Pods needs to have a good AB here, and then lets see some magic by our 2-3-4-5.
  21. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 02:10 AM) ozzie seems to be one of those managers where if things are going well he's a genious, and if the team starts to slip a little bit its all blamed on him You can remove Ozzie's name and change that to any sport at any level.
  22. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 02:10 AM) does anyone else agree with me that Ozzie put that guy on so he can have a righty on righty matchup? It doesn't make sense to set up a force because there were two outs, but why do it in the 7th inning witha guy who has been on base all night? Why not just bring in the lefty? What's wrong with pitching to shane Costa. Whatever Ozzie.:headshake: You know I agree. I've seen this same old story far too much with him leaving a guy in to try and get them in a chance to get the win.
  23. QUOTE(Allsox @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 02:08 AM) Another thing that killed them was not playing some smartball early on, especially with Jim and paulie out. There was no reason why Cintron shouldn't have tried a suicide squeeze in that 3rd with runners on the corners and one out. With Freddy on the mound, you try and break the game open. Playing for one run that early on usually leads to you regretting not getting more runs later in the game.
