QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 03:20 PM) Mediocre is being generous. I like Rob, so I tried to be nice. If people don't think that he's hurt us in CF though, I'm not sure what games they've been watching. He's very much below average out there, and that magnifies the defensive struggles in LF this season also, as well as Dye's decreased range.

I noticed that Alomar set up much farther off of the corners than our other catchers do. A few times, Buehrle hit the mit, and it was still a ball. I like that approach, as it gets Buehrle to pitch away from the heart of the plate.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 03:17 PM) That "depth" you thank KW for INCLUDES our back-up outfielder, Mack, who got two hits, stole a base and was generally clutch AGAIN last night. The guy is hitting what, .310 or so? With all the problems we have, I don't get your obsession with that. Its just not that important, and frankly, given what Mack contributes offensively, isn't even a significant drop-off when he plays. Our lack of a back-up CF is absolutely important. It's come back to haunt us about 10 times this season, and we would likely have had 2 or 3 more wins if there was a better defensive option out there. Mackowiak has been excellent at the plate this year...but his defense in CF is absolutely medicore. When you say we have a lot of problems, a lot of them come from our awful outfield defense this season. Our starting pitching has struggled this season, but they've gotten no help from our LF defense and CF back-up. A lot of rallies have started against us do to miscues out there.

We already have our SS if for some reason Uribe is gone. Cintron would be the guy to take over for Juan. I don't see Uribe leaving though.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 02:55 PM) I think Dye is the kind of person that would move to LF if a better defender for RF were found. The guy is a classy, classy individual. He took less money to come here because he made a verbal agreement with KW. You're not going to find many guys like him in baseball. I honestly thought I had read it all on this site....and then I read the last few pages of this thread. He's been our best overall player this season, and he actually seems to be getting better at the plate as he gets older.

QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 03:09 PM) It was a blurb in the Sun-Times Sox notes today. What, is this because of the spate of errors lately? Ozzie was livid about Uribe's lazy throws lately. Good for Ozzie!

My uneducated lineup prediction is, as follows: Pods 7 Iguchi 4 AJP 2 Dye 0 Crede 5 Gload 3 Uribe 6 Mackowiak 9 Anderson 8

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 04:44 AM) His name is BJ. Can anyone revert me to some of the things Dukes has done that make him such a cancer? Dukes has a very serious anger management problem. He's gotten into many fights with his teammates. Since I have a great source within the organization, I can safely say he's one of the worst cases of a player with an attitude problem in sports.

Non-Sox...I didn't think it was possible, but ESPN literally showed Ortiz having an infield hit, even though the Red Sox got hammered tonight. That was the only highlight they showed in the segment about the standings.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 03:37 AM) They'll trade him in the off-season. Can hardly blame the Rays for doing so. He's burnt his bridges there. I know it's not entirely his fault, but the sooner they get him away from their young prospects, the better.

Can Josh Fields play RF?

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 03:37 AM) Perhaps it's a lead into a New Pen Order. Cheesy, but maybe it will lead to something.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 03:33 AM) Or give her a taste of the back of fathom's knee for being so ignorant. No, my finisher is Dino Bravo's thunderous side suplex.

David Riske did his best Hulk Hogan impression tonight.
-
Either he's being sarcastic, or this thread is as pathetic as the Brian Anderson for MVP thread from the wknd.
-
FWIW, the Durham Bulls sent Elijah Dukes home. He's saying he's going to quit...but that will last about as long as a Mick Foley retirement.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 03:30 AM) This was the best game thread ever, without a doubt. You all have a great night. I'll be watching some old WWF tapes tonight. I might have to explain to my fiance the power of the Hogan leg drop.
-
No matter what happens, thanks guys for a great thread tonight. Even if we had lost, I would have still enjoyed the game tonight due to it.

Ok, one more Bobby! It's nice to face Teahen when his run doesn't matter. Please get him out before Mr. Fastball gets up.
-
Jenks had a lot of success going all fastball earlier in the year until he'd get 2 strikes. Then, he'd get the easy K with his curve. From what I've seen, teams are jumping on his fastball early in the count now.
-
Wow Bobby. You better get a little movement on that fastball, or keep it above the belt. And here we go.
-
QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 03:23 AM) you guys realize the sox have scored 7 runs with only one homerun which was a solo shot by the player of the game. Lets hope we don't have to get used to this without PK and Thome.
-
QUOTE(champ @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 03:23 AM) Elbow discomfort. Apparantly, nothing to be concerned about. Twins better hope that "nothing to be concerned about" doesn't mean what it means over in Cubbie land. He said he wants to pitch. It's a little different than Mrs. Prior basically running home and locking the door.

QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 03:22 AM) Do you save Jenks for another nite and keep Riske in with the 3 run lead? Or do you go with Jenks? I say it's a save situation, go with Jenks. If they tack on another run, go with Riske if he's still available. You go with him for the save, no question about it. Riske has been sitting in the dugout for 2 innings now, and you give Jenks the confidence builder with the 3 run save chance. If they score 3 or 4 runs vs Jenks, we don't deserve to win.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 03:21 AM) What happened with Liriano? The Cubs traded him for Izturis. BTW, did everyone know that the Padres didn't do that Linebrink deal?
