  1. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 07:28 PM) We better stop winning if we want the best arms in the draft. I'm kosher with selecting 29th. I really like our pick that late in the first round. I don't care if a pitcher is a power guy or finesse. I want a guy that knows how to get hitters out. QUOTE(farmteam @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 07:28 PM) I haven't read the thread, but is Samardzija gone yet? What about the Sox taking a chance on him in the later rounds? People seem to think the Cubs have an agreement with him in the 5th round. I think it's foolish, as he's nowhere near as good as his hype in baseball. Also, he's going to end up being a football guy in the long run.
  2. I don't really blame the Sox for drafting finesse guys. Since when have we actually been able to develop power arms? The only power pitcher we've had in the last 5 years was a cast-off from the Angels organization (and now Thornton, who's from the Seattle organization).
  3. Did the college pitcher, the closer from Arizona (not sure if it was ASU or Az) get drafted yet? I know he had some elbow concerns.
  4. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 07:03 PM) We need some position players. Don't you know!!!! We're loading up on pitchers so we can trade for Griffey Jr.
  5. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 06:58 PM) The Nats picked Stephen King -- described as an extremely athletic kid who has been injured and hasn't put up the numbers quite yet. That's the type of pick I sort of like right now. That's not to say I don't like the Sox picks so far (I'm pretty happy right now), but I like the toolsy type player right now. I think BA projected the Cubs as taking him with their first pick. If baseball doesn't work out for him, I'm should being a novelist might pay the bills.
  6. I can't see the Reds trading him, as they're off to a great start this season. I'd take Griffey Jr. in a heartbeat....and make JR worry about paying him. I have a funny feeling that McCarthy might be used as trade bait. I'm not so sure that Ozzie likes him as much as a lot of us do.
  7. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 06:35 PM) Politte just crapped his pants. He craps his pants when a .150 hitter with no power comes to the plate.
  8. Has anyone found out the name of the NC high school pitcher with the last name of White? I've been told to expect the Sox to take him early in the draft.
  9. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 05:53 PM) Anyone got a feel on the signing ability of Kyle McCulloch to a quick deal? I've heard it should be easy.
  10. When do the Sox pick next? Also, where is Wes Hodges supposed to be picked around? I've seen him play a lot at GT, and he's someone I think will become a MLB player.
  11. QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 05:34 PM) not good enough, how about we draft guys that are mid 90's. lets see if the rest of the draft goes as bad as last year. Picking 29th in the draft, I'll gladly take this guy.
  12. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 05:33 PM) it would have been interesting to see if the bosox didnt take bard which the sox woulda gone with I heard they wouldn't have gone after him.
  13. QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 05:32 PM) yep just about to say another broadway, no fastball. I am so thrilled. I thought the scouting report says low to mid 90s?
  14. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 05:25 PM) So was Babe Ruth We might as well have a beer company sponsor our bullpen then.
  15. Just talked to my source, and he said Colvin was ranked the 130th best prospect in this draft. He also said Perez has some "make-up" problems also (and not in the cosmetic way).
  16. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 05:18 PM) Holy s***, the Cubs took Colvin really early. Any scouting report on him?
  17. Quick suggestion...can we please list the team that's selecting these guys?
  18. I think the list of people in this thread is quite funny. It's not exactly the same list of posters in the "should the Sox trade for Zambrano" thread.
  19. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 05:10 PM) Don't forget Bondy If Drabek isn't taken early, a high schooler won't go in the top 15. He's going to start to get expensive soon though, isn't he?
  20. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 05:08 PM) miller verlander zumaya wont be fun in 3 years ^^^^^^^ QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 05:08 PM) f***ing Tigers, taking another really really top of the line arm. That's a great pick to continue the momentum the organization has going right now.
  21. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 05:04 PM) On Chris Perez -- his stuff looked good. Fastball with movement clocking in at 92, a real good slider at about 80-81. It would depend on the situation, but if he's there, I can see the Sox grabbing him. He has trouble putting on weight, and issues with drinking.......KEEP HIM AWAY FROM JENKS!
