Game Thread: 6/9, 7:35pm vs Indians
QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 02:35 AM) I wouldn't if there were the slightest bit of evidence that we could actually mount offense against CC. I think he means tonight's game

Good job by Dye...at least the eerie similarities to yesterday's game are done.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 02:31 AM) You mean load the bases for Victor Martinez? I don't think so. You definitely don't cave into Hafner though. Martinez has been awful lately. Instead, we keep challenging Hafner, and he keeps beating us.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 02:28 AM) It's amazing how one guy, Hermy, can totally change a bullpen. It has little to do with Hermanson. If he was pitching this year, he likely would have massively regressed also. Relief pitching is always inconsistent....and our GM didn't anticipate that.

With Hafner in that situation, and a struggling Martinez on deck, you almost have to pitch around him.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 02:27 AM) Cliff Lee has also sucked of late. What's the deal with him getting it back tonight?? Cause we suck vs lefties

This is so much like yesterday, it's not even funny. It's ok though, 7 more weeks until the trade deadline.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 02:25 AM) ...and now Vazquez is on the losing end of the game. What happened to the Cotts that didn't give up any homers? He went the way of Cotts, Garland, etc.....2005 was a miracle season.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 10, 2006 -> 02:25 AM) Not really, just made a big error right there. Unfortunately he's not as lights out as last season though. He's just another guy giving up way too many f***ing homers.

Thornton's a much better match-up vs Hafner. We're the biggest bunch of mental midgets. Do our guys just go f***ing brain dead in the 6th inning?

Where have I seen this before? Sox score 2 runs after the first 4 batters in a game against a LHP, and then go silent. I highly doubt 2 runs wins this.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 05:26 AM) Using Thome as an example of how you can develop incredible power after coming into the draft without it may turn out to be a VERY bad example..... Thome's been upfront about steroids since it became a media issue after '98. I'm pretty sure he's said that his way of getting big and strong is steak and eggs. I'm pretty sure that Thome is clean.

update on duke rape case
I spent some time in North Carolina recently, and from what I was told by different media members is that everyone in the area knows the allegations are a bunch of bulls***, but the media just can't come out and say it without causing an uproar.

Brady Clark
QUOTE(beautox @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 04:19 AM) What would it take to get both Brady Clark & Matt Wise? and would it be possible to give them Politte once he comes off the DL (retroactive to June 5th)? Considering what it cost to get Pods and Vizcaino, I would say that the Brewers would want a lot. The Brewers still think that they're in the pennant race, so I can't see them making that trade yet.

RUMOR
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 04:16 AM) He might be the only guy I am still sure is clean...him and Adam Dunn. Only the giant ex football players are safe apparently. I don't assume anyone is clean. If you made me say one person off the top of my head who I don't think did anything illegal, I would say Paul Konerko. He might have the most unathletic looking body in all of baseball. And no, I don't think Pujols necessarily did anything bad, even if his trainer was involved. He seems like a good guy, and I'm not going to assume he's guilty yet. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 04:19 AM) Scotty Pods has had an increase in power lately... I was actually suspicious of his 2004 vs 2005 stats, as well as many other players.

Hello Mr. Anderson
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 04:16 AM) How? He almost got the guy at 1st. He would have had a force somewhere. Umm....such things as momentum heading towards first for Uribe, and the runner who would have been on first having a lead. I've never read so many "should of, could of, would of...." Garland's job is to get the batter out, and he didn't do that.

Hello Mr. Anderson
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 04:13 AM) Because he drifts to it instead of running there and getting underneath it. It's quite annoying. Oh, and if Pudge stays at 1st, that would make 2 outs and then the blooper would make it 1st and 2nd/3rd with 2 outs. On that slow roller to Uribe, he could have forced the runner out at 2nd. 5 possible outs in that inning. That was a slow roller to the SS. No way is he getting the force out at 2nd base on that.

Brady Clark
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 12:07 AM) Lew Ford has a career 106 OPS+ that's better than Brady Clark (100) Torii Hunter (100) and Aaron Rowand (103). Why the hate for Lew? The guy put up a .827 OPS playing semi-fulltime in '04. Just because the guy is a Twin and his smirk makes you want to smack the s*** out of him doesn't mean he sucks. After seeing the trash we currently have in CF, I can't imagine how anyone wouldn't want Ford on our team. He's not a superstar....but at least his a major league outfielder.

Hello Mr. Anderson
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 04:00 AM) If he gets the ball in quicker, Pudge is out at 2nd. Pudge doesn't go to 2nd base if he sees that Mackowiak is in position to make a strong show. Between Mackowiak and Ozuna, we have two outfielders that make every routine fly ball an adventure. Mackowiak has a problem with his footwork when he's going to catch fly balls.

Hello Mr. Anderson
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 03:50 AM) Seems like Rob isn't getting enough of the blame here. He cost us the game tonight, plain and simple. Thames never should have been up there in the 1st place. I'll say this, if Anderson is in CF on that flyball, Ivan Rodriguez stays at 1st. He catches it and gets it in. No questions asked. But this is not an excuse for Jon's crappy pitching. Please answer me this....where's the 3rd out in the inning before Thames bats then?

I'll say this....if Pujols is/was clean, it sucks that he's going to get thrown into this s***. However, the unfortunate thing in this 'roids era is that where there's been smoke, there's fire.

QUOTE(beautox @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 03:40 AM) Do you think with Coops constant tutelage he can get that under control ala Matt Thornton? and speaking of Matt where has he been lately? Tigers don't have many lefties, so no real use for Thornton vs them.

ARod's the guy in the best position to challenge the home run records.

Hello Mr. Anderson
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 03:21 AM) About Garland. I went to Tucson on March20. I saw Garland pitch one of the games I saw down there, and he got lit up. I've been to every home game except 2 or 3 this year and have watched just about all of Garland's starts home and away. The thing that's alarming to me is the amount of hard hit balls against him. At least half of the outs he records are hit pretty well. This is about as bad as I have seen him pitch since he put on a White Sox uniform. Well, some people were trying to say that Garland didn't get hard tonight. From about the 3rd inning on, it seemed like every other batter hit the ball 340 feet or longer.
