  1. Great play by Crede. It's too bad Barrett didn't tear his ACL.
  2. That was off the plate. Gotta take the bad with good with Jim.
  3. He looks like s*** so far.
  4. He could have been tossed for that. PLEASE MAKE CONTACT THOME!
  5. What a pathetic AB by Uribe. Someone has really got to sit him down and get his swing changed. Leadoff walk, and then 2 outs in 3 pitches.
  6. Great AB by Rob
  7. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 21, 2006 -> 06:50 PM) Looks to me like he's getting his off-speed stuff up a little. He needs to watch that. Indeed he has. Cedeno's swung through some hanging sliders so far also.
  8. Contreras is handing his splitter today, but thankfully, that liner was right at Iguchi.
  9. Would a pitch-out be so hard? You have to do something to try and stop it.
  10. And there's a runner in scoring position.
  11. Contreras is really leaving that drop-down fastball on the inner half to righties. That's going to get hard if he can't keep it on the outer half.
  12. QUOTE(ShoeLessRob @ May 21, 2006 -> 06:36 PM) Joe smacked that ball. Silly me, I actually thought it might have been gone off the bat.
  13. What are you swinging at AJ?
  14. QUOTE(JimH @ May 21, 2006 -> 06:34 PM) That was big to get that run back right away, don't want goofy Zambrano getting into a groove. Make him work, make him throw lots of pitches. Great point.
  15. Anyone else notice PK using a little more of a leg kick? Nice to see him make adjustments.
  16. QUOTE(Felix @ May 21, 2006 -> 06:27 PM) Sounds a lot like what other teams say about AJ Pierzynski Yep....and I wouldn't blame most fans for saying that AJP is an asshole. Zambrano shows up his teammates, celebrates on every little thing, and doesn't respect the game. I know you're a borderline Cubs fan, but Zambrano is a piece of s***.
  17. Cubs lead after the homer. Contreras is really, really dropping down on his fastball.
  18. QUOTE(Felix @ May 21, 2006 -> 06:24 PM) Everyone seems to hate Zambrano (probably because he's a Cub), but I like that he plays the game with such intensity. If he can do that without getting himself mentally unstable, he's a force to be reckoned with. He's a dick. Plain and simple, he has no maturity.
  19. First of many Ks for Thome today.
  20. How can someone come so close to getting picked off, yet still get an awful jump?
  21. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 21, 2006 -> 04:53 PM) I hope he's in the booth with Hawk and DJ today. The best part is that she's playing while Barrett's in the box. He's enjoyable in the booth. However, lets hope he doesn't start celebrating a flyball as an easy out, even though it goes over the fence by 50 feet (what he did at Wrigley last year with Dubois at the plate). QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 21, 2006 -> 04:53 PM) I hope he's in the booth with Hawk and DJ today. The best part is that she's playing it while Barrett's in the box. Just like "take me higher" with Garcia warming up?
  22. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 21, 2006 -> 04:30 PM) I can breathe a little easier knowing that Boone Logan is back where he belongs. It's funny, but it's true. It's nice knowing that Ozzie doesn't have the option of bringing in the minor league pitcher. Good luck Boone, and it will be interesting to see if you ever make it back up to the big leagues.

Something I've noticed with Thornton: His slider isn't effective at all against righties. He's better off sticking with the fastball to righties, and using the slider against lefties. As long as he can throw strikes with his fastball, he'll be a solid option in the bullpen.
  24. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 21, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) Contreras has not yet told Ozzie that he is good to go today, gonna have ot wait a little while longer for confirmation. Umm....that's not a promising sign. I do know that Contreras has a history of being very conservative when it comes to pitching directly after an injury.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 21, 2006 -> 03:26 PM) Hill had big time mechanical problems on his curveball. Even I could see he wasn't finishing his pitches and his curveball was always WAY high and uncontrolable. The Sox hitters were just sitting on his fastball. Exactly. I can't believe they threw Iguchi a 2-2 fastball. Anyone that has scouted Sox games have to know that you can get him out with an offspeed pitch when you have 2 strikes on him. Oh well....I'll gladly take it.
