QUOTE(OilCan @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 11:57 PM) guys guys guys..... If anyone falters from our starting rotation, then we have a pretty darn good equalizer: Two words: Brandon McCarthy. And then our bullpen is even more of a question mark.

Garcia's velocity has been gradually decreasing over the past 3-4 years. People act like he was throwing 94 mph constantly last year. That's not true at all. He was in the 91 mph range on average last season with his fastball.
-
Garcia just wasn't putting much effort into his pitches. He was trying to aim his fastball to hit his spots, and his slider was just rolling up to the mound. Maybe he thought this was still Spring Training? Cotts looked pretty solid today, but I'm definitely concerned about Garcia and Jenks. At least we have Thome!
-
Garcia definitely looks like he didn't miss many meals this offseason.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 10:02 PM) You're going to have to ask Pods for the answer to that one. I, for one, wouldn't mind him getting on base once in a while. But he's our catalyst When he starts reaching base, I don't want to see him run if he's not healthy. No reason to give away outs with the power we have at 3-4-5.
-
All I know is this....I don't want to see Garcia become a soft tosser like DJ was suggesting he wants to try and be.

QUOTE(rventura23 @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 08:49 PM) aaron boone is the worst starter in baseball Um...no. Not even close.

QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 08:44 PM) And thats a White Sox Winner. And thats the dumbest post on this board today.

QUOTE(JimH @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 08:42 PM) Personally I don't mind the Indians fan if he talks baseball. To me that means talking baseball, not cheerleading, because that will agitate people. The other thing is, half of his posts were defending himself, tweaking Abe Froman, and insisting he wasn't here to start trouble. He should just talk baseball and ignore the potshots ... ha ... like this one I guess. Yeah, I had no problem with him analyzing the game. But when he starts cheerleading for Boone to go 5-5, etc....that's when it becomes lame and has no place on this WHITE SOX board.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 08:41 PM) Well, if Hawk & DJ said 95...the CSN gun definately read 89 on that first pitch. So what does that mean the later pitches that the CSN gun clocked at 93-95 were? (And I note that the CSN gun didn't display 1/2 of bobby's pitches) Yeah, I think that Jenks reached 95 mph once. You could tell he had no clue where his offspeed pitch was going.
-
The gun on the screen has been right all game, so I doubt it was 10 mph off for the first pitch by Jenks.
-
Initial impression on Jenks.....at least he threw strikes. His offspeed pitch isn't close to what it was last year, and he obviously hasn't found his heater yet. It's going to take him some time to get his stuff back, but hopefully he gets the heater and hook working sooner than later.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 08:35 PM) I think the CSN gun said 89 and Hawk & DJ said 99. Maybe I heard wrong though. I'm pretty sure it was 89.

go Grady...tear an ACL

QUOTE(GoTribe @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 08:32 PM) go boone.. go 5-5 ! I have no problem with another team's fan on this site, but I'm not really a fan of this type of cheerleading. Just my opinion.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 08:32 PM) 99 by Jenks according to Hawk & DJ. It was 89, I thought.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 08:31 PM) I don't know why anybody would think that considering we play in the best division in baseball. It will be much harder to get to October this year than it was last year. By that, I meant that all I'm hearing is people saying how we have to win tomorrow so that we win this series. Sure, that would be great. However, our season won't be over if we go 1 and 2 in the first 3 games of the season.
-
I hope the coast guard is on duty if the Sox lose tomorrow. There's a lot of people that seem to think we're in the playoffs right now.
-
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 08:26 PM) So am I. Just win tomorrow and win the series. If you win 2 outta 3 all year you start 100-50 after all. I just wish Freddy hadn't thrown an 88 mph fastball today, and I moreso wish Hawk and DJ weren't talking about how he's pitching with cunning and guile this year. Trust me when I say that DJ and Hawk aren't fans of this new approach.

QUOTE(JimH @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 08:22 PM) This is actually very good for the White Sox, to get their ass kicked on Game 2. It wakes them up. The big win on Opening Day and then the feel-good ring ceremony would leave most teams a little self satisfied. Nice K there by Cotts. I also think it might motivate Garcia to step up his effort on the mound.
-
It took Cotts 2/3 of an inning to match his homer allowed total from 61 innings last season.
-
Balta....remember when I said that PK is going to hit into a ton of double plays this year? Does anyone know what the record is for a season? And the only reason I ask this is because I think Thome is awesome, and will be on base at a terrific rate.
-
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 07:54 PM) I agree, and that's the question I asked in here and my thread. However discussion about things that aren't all positive are apparently banned since we won it all last year. And also despite the fact I'll be very pleased with 2 out of 3 in this series and picked us to win the division, i'm panicking and negative. Yeah, I'm as confused as you are. This is as positive of a game thread as ever I've seen in which we were getting blown out.

That Thome kid has a future.

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 07:51 PM) Pods looks off so far Hopefully he'll have the next 2 days off, and he'll be ready to go in KC.
