  1. This is the type of game where Ozzie needs to remind the team that 2005 is over. We're a great team, but there's no guarantees in sports.
  2. Game # 1 blown by our bullpen this season. I hope this doesn't become the norm.
  3. QUOTE(daa84 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 10:01 PM) yeah he certainly wasnt upper 90s where guys had no shot like late last year He was Ricky Vaughn in the postseason last year.
  4. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 09:58 PM) Right now he will get hurt if he can't lose a few pounds and give himself the flexibility to have a proper throwing motion. He's just too bulky and its effecting his range of motion which is leading to improper mechanics and some wild pitches. I remember reading where the trainers were working with him during ST on this and I hope they have him on a diet full of salad and tofu until he drop 15 more pounds. Yep, his elbow is in prime position for a blow-out right now with his mechanics.
  5. QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 09:55 PM) The guy saw what, 10 AB this spring?? If anything, Konerko has left the most people stranded. Another reason that many of us wanted him to start the season on the DL. However, the best we can hope for is that he finds a rhythm during the games.
  6. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 09:55 PM) Jenks is too fat to properly throw the ball right now. He isn't following through completely and with that he leaves his shoulder open just a bit and he's missing way outside because of it. It's painful to watch him pitch. He just isn't fluid on the mound. We're going to need him to be good though, or else our bullpen sucks. You can't have 2 or 3 dependable arms with the way Ozzie manages.
  7. QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 09:53 PM) Ummm no. Unbelievable the bandwagoning going on here within the first couple games. I'm sure everyone will be back to bowing down to him when he gets his 4 sb game. But yeah, go ahead and blame these past 2 games on Pods. Trust me when I say that the first 3 games of this season doesn't change the way I view Pods. I'm just grateful that he did great in the postseason.
  8. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 09:52 PM) Um if we went with a righty against Michaels, you then have a righty versus Hafner? You gotta pick your poison and Cotts v Michaels was a match up Cotts needs to win. You play for the win. If Jenks does his job, and gets the 2 righties out, the inning is over.
  9. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 09:51 PM) Earlier in the game, Ozzie had Iguchi lay down a sac bunt. So Wedge just IBB'ed Thome to get to Konerko. And then Konerko GIDP'ed. That was Dusty-esque. I think Ozzie is going to learn that smallball at the top of our order is pointless this season.
  10. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 09:50 PM) You'd b**** if Bobby gave up a hit against Michaels anyway. You'd b**** no mtatter what. Absolutely not. It would have been the right move. As long as Ozzie makes the "right" move by everyone's standards, I wouldn't complain.
  11. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 09:48 PM) WEll hell. Sounds like you'd take a lot of the Indians players over our players. Do you like anybody on the team you say that you like? Pods is a mediocre player. I've never changed my tune on that. Especially when he's dinged up, he's as worthless of a MLB starter as you're going to find. And yes, the Indians have one of the most talented rosters in all of baseball, especially on offense. There's plenty of guys on the Sox that I like....thanks for asking.
  12. Haha Ozzie. Again, if you're going to pitch Jenks this inning, bring him in for the guy who hit .323 vs lhp last season (Michaels). Why wait for Cleveland to get the lead?
  13. QUOTE(joeynach @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 09:46 PM) And there goes the game to a guy most people have never heard of. How the hell did he go 4-5 against pitching he has never seen before. I'd take Michaels over Pods any day. And I wouldn't say he's unknown.
  14. Where's Jenks? Michaels is notorious for raking against lhp.
  15. I honestly don't get it. Cotts is healthy enough to pitch 2 innings, but we don't bring him in to face the Indians best hitter in a 1-run situation? Oh well....that's my last complaint about that move by Ozzie.
  16. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 09:41 PM) Pods with ANOTHER POPUP. Really, really not happy with Scott this season. It's not too surprising. He hasn't shown much ability to mentally focus when he's been dinged up. No excuse for him to keep hitting the ball in the air.
  17. Was it an over-the-shoulder catch by Sizemore?
  18. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 09:30 PM) We are not playing well but right now but Mota was pretty freakin impressive to be honest and Paul did have no chance. Graves and Wickman warming up now, hopefully neal can shut them down and we can get to one of those guys. Just by basing on what I read, I'm more disappointed that Pods didn't draw a walk. Everyone in the world knows that the Sox struggle with offspeed pitches with a 3-2 count.
  19. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) You're not even watching the game, are you? Nope....I'm just basing that on the last 2 full innings. If I'm wrong....then I blame jabroni for falsely representing the action on the field.
  20. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 09:26 PM) We've done a lot of things wrong, but we were still the better team today, so lets win this thing. Of course it would be great to win this, but we've had plenty of chances to win this game. I hate to see this undisciplined approach though.
  21. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 09:13 PM) Iguchi looks REAL good. Spring training doesn't mean s***. Yep, which is why Cotts should have been in over Logan.
  22. Would Iguchi have had a double or triple on it? Also, did Pods chase ball 4?
  23. Great job by our glue guys (Cliff and Cotts) against the top/heart of Cleveland's order.
