QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 03:56 AM) Yes. There is something wrong with it. You might not believe it, but Ozzie got the team to where it is today (FIRST PLACE IN THE AL IF YOU FORGOT), and despite some poor decisions in games, he is not the only one to blame. It's a 162 game season.

To all who think the Sox don't make the playoffs
fathom replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Wow, a new creative title for "In or Out"? The funny thing is that it doesn't matter at all what couch potatoes like myself or anyone else say. If starting a thread like this makes you feel better, then kudos to you for trying. I know we're all just searching for anything positive right now. BTW...I predicted 3 weeks ago we wouldn't make the playoffs in chat, and I'm standing with that prediction. Will I be happy if we make it? f*** yes, just as much as anyone else. -
QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 03:53 AM) So blame the players for playing horribly. Again, I understand that Ozzie is partly to blame, but he doesnt deserve all of it. A lot of these games have been lost by the pitching either being left in too long, or questionable choices of relievers. It would be awful if the Sox missed out on the playoffs. But I think the best way they could try and salvage things would be if they fired Ozzie. I know you're a big Ozzie fan....but look around. 90 pct of Sox fans can't stand him, and the other 10 will turn on him also if they choke.

QUOTE(mmmmmbeeer @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 03:44 AM) This was the one game in the series that CLE had the pitching matchup in their favor. We beat those odds but then Oz managed us right out of the win. This team is NOT cooked. Tue and Wed will go our way. book it. I'd like our chances a lot better if we could get rid of the person who managed us out of the win.

QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 03:51 AM) Is there anything new there? As far as I can tell, you always blame Ozzie. SOMEONE HAS TO BE f***ING BLAMED FOR THIS COLLAPSE!!!

I'm pretty sure this was the 12th game the Sox have lost when leading going into the 7th inning. With the success so many of our guys in the pen have had this year, that number is way too f***ing high.

What did Cliff Politte do that Viz has done better? What did Cotts do that Marte has done better? I'm sorry, but I'm sick of some of the s*** I see going on with Ozzie.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 03:43 AM) We still lead the Yankees by 4 games which is a fairly commanding lead at this point in the season. Not when we play the best team in baseball 5 more times, as well as having to face Santana in a game. The Yanks and Red Sox have easy schedules the rest of the way, besides 3 against each other. We were up like 10 on the Yanks about a week ago.

QUOTE(sircaffey @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 03:43 AM) 1. Making the playoffs by default and then getting swept badly or 2. Missing the playoffs and seeing the outrage in the media and at SoxFest Jan 28-30 That's a tough choice....Either should be entertaining at least... Nothing would be worse than missing the playoffs. I wonder if Steve Stone is brushing up on possible transactions this offseason?

QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 03:41 AM) Why is this happening to our team? - A manager w/no feel for how to handle pitching - Inactivity at the deadline - Lack of a number 3 hitter - Terrible approach at the plate by our hitters - Fantastic Indians team - Starting pitching that was overused all season ....and much, much more

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 03:40 AM) Are you kidding me. No fire...down 4-0, tie it up, than take the lead. Marte walked a guy and the walk really bit the club in the ass. Lack of execusation late in the game, maybe, but at the same time the Sox showed a ton of fire, regardless of what you or any other fan that whines about this team choking will tell me. FWIW, I saw a lot more fire from this team, and the crowd was fantastic tonight.
-
QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 03:38 AM) who would have thought no playoffs for this team.
-
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 03:38 AM) Congratulations Cleveland....good luck in the playoffs. Gents, see ya in March. Hopefully w/an entire different team.

Wow, he got a massive hanger there. This team f***ing blows, and it all starts at the top.
-
No one else I'd rather have bat here. Willie should be running immediately for Everett.
-
Oh for PK to get a chance this game!
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 03:32 AM) OMG, that was a freaking hanger. Like usual
-
Do they not throw hanging sliders in Japan? Iguchi always swings and misses those pitches.
-
FWIW, Pods should steal 2nd here. Have to avoid the DP.

QUOTE(S720 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 03:30 AM) Fathom: Would you take Wickman or Bobby Jenks? Wickman for now....obviously Jenks for the future.
-
QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 03:30 AM) don't watch sports center don't watch baseball tonight don't check espn.com don't read the papers don't do it. i'm serious Why? Some people take Sox bashing in the media way too seriously. They deserve every criticism that people will give them.
-
QUOTE(S720 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 03:27 AM) Before this season begins, did anyone of you think that the Sox would be 2.5 games leading the division with 2 weeks left in the season? Would anyone of you take that situation? Let's see who's right, shall we? This game is not for the faint hearted!!! I used to say things along those lines when the Sox had like a 8 or 10 game lead. This has gone from a dangerous situation to full out collapse mode.
-
How can Hawk say that was a good pitch? He threw a pitch not even close to the zone. A solid hitter would have taken it, and been up 3-1 in the count.
-
QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 03:27 AM) if this fat tub of goo shuts us out, we should boycott the Sox. Why? He's shown more balls than our closers lately.

QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 03:24 AM) When Everett hit that home run, it should have been the end of the Tribe's magical run. We win and hold them off. Instead the Tribe has come to Chicago and stuck it up our ass. Amazing. And that's what makes the Indians so f***ing awesome lately. They never think they're out of the game.
