  1. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 12:02 AM) Carl 11 for 76 Why he hasn't been given a night off is beyond me?
  2. So it was a ball he should have caught? I'm all for sarcasm, but when I'm stuck at work, the pbp on here is important.
  3. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 11:28 PM) WEBGEM FOR JERMAINE... I thought Pena had a double?
  4. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 11:24 PM) Bah. We've had the worst luck in hit and runs of late. What happened on the play?
  5. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 09:31 PM) we are a lock for the playoffs! wooo hooooo! that is all that i really care about at this point. THINK ABOUT IT we are the only team in the AL that knows we are in....ha ha ha!
  6. They're bringing Guillen back for the last week of the season? If true, that's pretty stupid of them to risk injury.
  7. There's a difference between keeping him as a "starter", and resting him a game or two to sit back, relax, and not press so hard. Everett should still be the Sox DH, but he should also get a day off soon, as he's in a terrible mindset at the plate.
  8. It's easier to judge by looking at the loss column. Right now, one of the two AL East teams will end up with no fewer than 66 losses. If the White Sox win 2 games the rest of the way, that will give them 66 losses. 3 games, and they're in.
  9. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 10:40 PM) 2 wins clinches a playoff spot, we can't clinch the division without a Cleveland loss. The best we could do if Cleveland wins all 3, is clinch a tie. 2 wins clinches no worse than a wild card tie. 3 wins, and we're in.
  10. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 10:30 PM) Correct, both those teams have to lose for that magic number to go down. Exactly! We put ourselves in a great situation this wknd to make the playoffs, even if we lose a handful of games this week.
  11. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 10:27 PM) 3 is the magic number to get into the playoffs (i.e., clinch at least the WC). Its that low because BOS and NYY play each other 3 times. 3 is the amount of wins, but 3 isn't the magic number for the playoffs right now. That number won't go down if just one of the teams lose.
  12. QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 10:21 PM) They should start sanders one game if it was clinched by then. Just for s***s and giggles... Considering that the games next wknd will almost definitely impact the playoffs one way or another, I doubt we'd see a game without a legit starter. Duque would likely get the ball.
  13. The last three games looked like how teams should play when they have to win during the pennant race. Get the early lead against a team that has nothing to play for, and have strong starting pitching. That Dye homer on Friday was a big turning point for this team.
  14. QUOTE(TLAK @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 10:08 PM) On Gardsy: Are you disappointed? What? For anyone who thinks he wasn't trying, he did bring in 2 of his best relievers for the 7th/8th.
  15. Now that the game is over, I'd like to thank the Twins for this lineup today. Buehrle pitched well, but this was a terrible, terrible lineup. Reminded me of the s*** the Cubs faced in the last weeks of the season during 2003.
  16. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 10:07 PM) its a shame we failed to clinch at home this season Not our fault, that's the Indians you have to applaud.
  17. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 10:03 PM) I doubt any of them come in. It's Mark's game to lose. I agree, but I stopped "doubting" things a long time ago with this team.
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 10:01 PM) Marte is up. Fathom, I told ya so. I tip my cap. If he brings Marte in, Ozzie will get booed off the field.
  19. OH NO! MARTE IS WARMING UP
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 09:55 PM) Edit - Hey wait...Neal is actually up! Ozzie has said that Cotts will be his late inning lefty now.
  21. This game is Buehrle's to lose. The only way you go to the pen is if they get the first 2 guys on base for LeCroy.
  22. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 09:54 PM) Fight temptation Ozzie, leave Marte in the bullpen. Let MB finish the game! Cotts will be the lefty out of the pen.
  23. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 09:52 PM) If, and a big if, we win today, is the magic playoff number 3 right? Yes, we would need 3 wins. It's not the magic number, just mathematical elimination.
  24. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 09:51 PM) When Sox finish deal today, what will J.Brantley due tonight since Clev lost and Sox gained a game and he cannot b**** about Sox like oh every chance he gets, I am sure he will skip over Sox fast tonight. Ask this question in 6 outs. Actualy, ask the question in 4 wins.
