QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 12:35 AM)
This offense really does suck. I dont know why Walker is still around.
CWSOX45
This has more to do with our 9 million dollar pitcher having an ERA approaching 4.75 in the 2nd half of the season.
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 12:33 AM)
Here's your 9 million bucks, don't bother trying.
I said this last year, and I'll say it again: When Ozzie goes, I hope this overrated non-competitor goes also.

For some reason, he thinks he can keep challenging Hafner with a flat fastball down the cock.

chance for this to be a good night -- but freddie better turn it up
Long, long, long way to go in both of those games.
Not a very promising start. Garcia putting us in an early hole was the worst thing that could have happened. We should be thankful it's not 3-0 with the junk he was throwing up there.
QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 12:16 AM)
get somebody up in the pen.
garcia ain't got nuttin
When both your manager and pitching coach ask if you're injured, isn't that pretty obvious the pitcher is running on fumes?
QUOTE(CYGarland @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 12:15 AM)
Freddy looks like he's got nothing tonite so far. Who comes in if he starts getting shellacked??
He'll have to give up 10 runs to not pitch 6 innings.
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 08:02 PM)
What's the logic behind that one?
A psychologist would have a field day with some of the defense mechanisms I've seen by people on this board lately. My personal favorite is that the Sox have nothing to lose.
QUOTE(VAfan @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 05:53 PM)
The Sox have nothing to lose. And if they play like it, I think this Sox team is still destined to do something really great - win in the postseason. Because this team plays its best baseball when no one, absolutely no one, thinks they have any chance.
The Sox have everything to lose the last two weeks of this season. The next 3 years of this organization could be shaped with what happens in the next 14 games.
This series is a good time for two of our so-called starts, Garcia and Pods, to step up their games. It's obvious what Garcia has to do. On the other hand, Pods is finally facing a team with a poor throwing catcher. Pods has got to get his confidence back on the bases!
Rangers will want Contreras, and not Duque. El Duque has absolutely no trade value this offseason.
I would do Contreras, Marte, and Sweeney for Blalock and another player. That would significantly upgrade our offense, and we'd be getting maximum value out of Contreras.
With the intensity and momentum the Indians are bringing into the Cell, I don't care what he has to do, Garcia has to come out of the gate with focus and concentration. The last thing we can afford is the Indians to put up a 3 spot in the first inning.
